I've checked the website and didn't see anything, so I wanted to ask the board: I was in a GS (Hillsborough, NJ) and they had a sign advertising 30% extra trade-in credit for any one pre-owned item. The guy at the counter said it was legit, but I haven't seen any other mention of it here or online.

so just want to make sure im calculating this right

id get around $20 for alan wake(base $15) with the 25% bonus+edge if i put it towards reach right

Woah nice!! That's amazing, aside from Red Dead and MAYBE FFXIII all those games are usually on the cheap, VERY nice TIV!

Sorry by me claiming they wouldn't stack at all :p

And on another note, I checked and my GS did sell XBLA games; if you see a little section with the summer of arcade games, borderlands codes, bad company 2 codes, halo codes and mw2 codes etc; ask them behind the counter if you're looking for something specific.

They have a whole book with the titles, and I asked and they did (thankfully) have Shank. I'll be back for it later, this is much more convenient than getting those extra Microsoft points!

Well if it required a manual override it didn't truly stack, the manager had to manually adjust values and you would still technically only be getting the one deal. However, if the values you listed are base, then he didn't even do an over ride for you.

Total of all games = $96
All games with EDGE = $105.60
All games with EDGE & $20 bonus = $125.60
All games with EDGE & 25% bonus = $129.60
All games with EDGE & both bonuses = $149.60

This assumes the values you listed are the normal base. Have crappy connection via iPhone so can't verify against front page. Just wanting to point that out.

:wii: Metroid: Other M $25
:360: Alan Wake $14

The two combined with the promo toward Kirby was actually more than the game's price, and with Amazon's pre-order credit I actually gained $3.75 from Metroid overall.

Called in TiVs (9/13/10)

Xbox 360
The Bigs 2 - $9
Blitz: The League 2 - $5
CoD: World at War - $9 (sooo... bummed i missed out on the 2/$40 towards Reach)

Can I get a "d'oh!"? ;)

I thought something seemed a bit off, there, as I traded 10 cheap-ass games on Saturday (for 2 $20 bonuses) and got nearly as much as he did from the 7 games and some of mine were worth 1/4 or less of his higher valued games.

Edit: JP, I just compared them to the OP and it appears maybe he got FF XIII bumped up to $20 from $15. But all the rest of the games actually have the same or lower base values than the OP! So, yeah, maybe he got the two promos stacked on one game but not the others...

I got a question regarding EDGE Card, is it possible to see if you got money on it on the internet??? Or do I need to be in the store?.

Just head over to gamestop.com and on the left side there will be a category that says "EDGE CARDS" and below that is a option for "check balance" just click the link and follow the instructions.

Woah I never noticed that there before, then again I rarely check out the site or scroll that low, thanks for the quick help.

Trades from 9/13:

:ps3:
Chaotic Shadow Warriors - $5 (new to the OP!)
Darksiders - $8 (confirming $1 drop from yesterday...)

:wii:
Big Brain Academy - $6
Top Spin 3 - $4 (confirmed at the same price as my quote from a few days ago)

:360:
Brave - $2.50 (at least this held as a drop on that means it wouldn't qualify for the promo)

Total was $48.05 after $20 bonus + Edge - not too shabby.

They also told me the Power-Up program is rolling out in a few weeks. Also, there were a bunch of greasy looking young men hanging out in cars outside the GS store reading books and eating nachos and stuff from Moe's. I realized after going into GS, that they were probably there for the Halo Reach midnight release. Why the hell were they there at 7:30 though? Is GS giving stuff away to people in line early? I hadn't seen anything like that since the Wii/PS3 launch days. They weren't actually in line yet, probably because the store was still open till 8pm and I'm sure the guys working there told them they couldn't line up till after closing. But I'm sure they were there for that as they looked like the types that would buy Halo Reach at midnight (sorry if I offed anyone, but it's a stereotype that fits ;)) plus they were there the whole time my son and I ate dinner at the Moe's next door after going to GS.

I remember when I did the midnight release for Red Dead Redemption(even though I had a copy of it being overnighted to me from ordering on GS.com#-o). I showed up at about 10pm or so. The store was already open for people to come in but it was just the employees and I for most of those two hours.

I decided from then on out that even if it means I have to wait till the store opens for normal business hours I'm ok with waiting the ten hours till the mall store opens the day of release.

But if anyone wants to skip the Gamestop lines for a major release and you're paying MSRP anyway, just go to a 24 hour Wally World. They should have the game out as of midnight and you don't have to put up with the 'you know if you don't pre-order you'll NEVER find this game' routine from the GS employees.

I like getting the game early, but yeah you shouldn't show up too early. I got there at like 11:45 for the last midnight launch I went to and it worked out fine.

That makes sense to me. I just couldn't figure out why these guys were there at like 7:30. They were settled in for the long haul with books (and presumably handhelds though I didn't see those ;)).

hmm, thinking of trading in Fable II PH, X-Men Origins Wolverine and Spider-Man Web of Shadows for around $29-ish of GS credit to use towards Fable III LE.

I wish I could get Fable 2 off of you beforehand, but you probably wouldn't be interested in trading it for something of equal trade in value, just so I could play Fable 2 again... :whistle2:#

Well, part of me wants to keep Fable II but I really don't see myself playing it a month before Fable III hits. I'd love to trade with you but the only thing that semi-interests me is BF:BC2 (as we know, lol).

If I had the funds, I'd flat out buy it off of you, but money is tight right now which is why I'm looking to scrounge up any GS credit I can conjure up. If my plan comes to fruition (with all my current GS credit, and coupon codes) I'll only end up paying like $20 out of pocket for Fable III LE.

Traded all the stuff that Amazon turned down and got about the same amount. Bought Reach. Dude at the register was nice enough to scan the preorder sku and give me the preorder bonus even though I didn't preorder.

People started lining up at the Fenton, MO Gamestop at 6 p.m. even though nothing Halo related was given away (they did eventually have some drawings for unrelated swag the manager had in the back.) The line there ended up a little over 200 people long.

quick question???

my sister was going to go pick up halo reach for her kids on her way home-so i asked her to do me a favor and trade in 5 games for the extra $20-

she called and said that she had traded the games for a total of $27.
and i'm telling her that she was suppose to get that cash on top of the $20.

my fault for trying to save some time-anyway i can go back with the receipt and get the true value-or am i screwed-

Going to be hugely YMMV. Normally when you leave the store after a trade, getting things fixed is about a 10% chance.

It depends on how often you're in the Gamestop store she did the trade-ins at. Since I've become a regular customer at at least 1-2 of my local ones I might have less of an issue getting the situation resolved.

But if anything you should get this taken care of IMMEDIATELY. If you wait till the next business day they may tell you to piss off. Just remember to go in there and be polite and say that you thought you should've received the 5/$20 promo on the games.

You also should note the values on the games listed on the receipt because if you only had her trade in FIVE of them then one of them might have dropped below $2.01. All games being traded in for the promo HAVE to be OVER $2 in value.

well thanks jp and Iamthecheapest--i guess its worth a shot-but if they don't o well live n learn-next time ill just go myself-

:wii: New Super Mario Bros - $23.00 (-$2)
:360: Blitz, the League - $2.50
:360: Lego Rock Band - $5
:360: Fear - $2.50
:360: Fear 2 - $5
:360: Fear Files - $2 (-$.50 FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU)

All base trades. At least I got the 5 game bonus.

The only problem is that chances are one (or more) of the games was $2 or less so that would negate the $20 bonus - though she still should have gotten $10 extra for 3 if they qualified. And at $27 total she might have gotten the $10 bonus but definitely not the $20. It can't be the $20, actually, since the least you could get with the trade 5/$20 bonus is 5 games at $2.50 each (I don't think they have anything valued at $2.25, let alone $2.01) + $20 = $32.50 not counting Edge.

For the trade 3/10 promo you could have a minimum of $17.50 + whatever the values of the non-qualifying games. Chances are, if she traded 360 games (and not PS2 or something that doesn't qualify at all) that she had 1 game that was $2 or less and got the $10 bonus on 3, plus just the regular values on the other 2. There really isn't anything you can do about that except tell her to be more careful next time (though it can be tricky to even the most veteran CAG to keep an eye on all the qualifications/restrictions for these promos).

I knew right away when the total was off by the $20 bonus for the last batch of games I took in, though I still wish PSP games qualified as I would've made another $40-50 on some games that cost me a whopping $5 total.:bomb:
