Guitar Hero or Rock Band which will you pick up.
Whats to complain about?
With 3? Over-charting, poor interface, lack of DLC, single instrument focus. Possibly first three again with WT, plus no BC. However, they do deserve credit, they've got some great songs in 3/WT. I just greatly prefer RB's feel and DLC.

The DLC is the only thing I really noticed. However I could care less about that since the DLC is a rip off. I feel like if your willing to pay as much as RB/GH are charging you must have alot of Vaseline in your house.
I keep hearing stuff like this but I seriously think its just from RB fanboys and people that hate popular music. I mean since neversoft took over they have expanded and made the gameplay better. They have added larger name bands to the game. They have made all the songs original recordings not impersonators singing the songs. And the new one takes all those improvments and now lets you create not only your own charcter and guitars but also your own damn songs.

Whats to complain about?
haha yeah, I've never understood the RB fans who HATE guitar hero. I know there are a number of differences, but the core gameplay is the same... and hey I'd rather have MORE games to use with my silly looking plastic guitar controller, so it's all good.

The Rock Band 2 game is the only for-sure.

I really want that guitar with the auto-calibrate tool, but I'm concerned about the strum bar status. Besides the strum bar though I'll take the RB guitar easily...I've had nothing but trouble with my wireless Les Paul.

Between the two games, drums are a wash since I'm a mediocre drummer. My Rock Band 1 set works fine, I don't see any reason to upgrade to either game's newer drums.

GH:WT game only may be an option, but I'm leaning towards no. Rock Band constantly comes out with new stuff so I'm never feeling the urge to get more songs by buying more games.

I find it ironic you bring that up, since if I recall correctly you're the one who made that topic about masturbating like 30-40 times a day AKA thanks for scaring me indefinetly.

I'm kinda getting hesitant to buy GH:WT now simply because the setlist so far has nothing that gets me as excited as RB2. Like it feels majority are bands that I say "meh" to. That and they aren't really hyping it up (to me at least) with it being two months away compared to RB2...

"Power-ups" and boss battles say no. The gameplay has gotten worse.

They have made all the songs original recordings not impersonators singing the songs.
Huh? There are a bunch of covers in GH3.

Whats to complain about?
Plenty, as has already been addressed.

I feel like if your willing to pay as much as RB/GH are charging you must have alot of Vaseline in your house.
Suggesting that the "RB/GH" DLC is the same is asinine. Rock Band's DLC works across different games, costs less, and is not force-bundled.

1. The power up/boss battles added depth and expanded the gameplay. Just because you disliked them you cant claim its worse.

2. Yes there were covers in GH3 but WT is going to be all original recordings. And GH3 had more then the previous games.

3. I didnt say GH's DLC was better, worse or even. I just said they were both bad and your being ass raped with either company. Sorry, if you think RB is cuter then let them rape away I guess.

I'll be getting Rock Band 2 game only the first week. I'll see what kind of deals there are, hopefully a deal on points with purchase.

I'll be waiting for GH:WT game only for a few weeks/months. Maybe pick it up used. We will see.

Just got rockband 1 (thanks guitar center) for $100. Honestly, I am having more fun with it than I have ever had with guitar hero 3 or 2. After purchasing gh3 I just didn't like it because the boss battles and power-ups annoyed me. So I guess I'm a rock band fan and when I do pick up a game it'll probably be rb2 game only.

Kind of off track question: I have an EL drumset and you have to POUND to make sure the beats are recognized. I can usually drum pretty decent, however, I would rather have a more sensitive set. Does anyone think there would be an advantage to waiting to file a repair form until RB2 comes out or should I go ahead and get it taken care of? Also, have there been price announcements for the new drum sets?

Rock Band 2 > GH World Tour

I've played both... although currently since I'm playing more Rock Band 2 than anything else, I'm a bit biased, but still. The drums, new guitar, everything... it just makes the experience now THAT much better.

I've been thinking about selling off my old drums and picking up a new set. Is there less noise? & what about the response?

Also what about the guitar? Is the strum like the old RB or is it "clicky" like GH?

The response is better than the first wave of Rock Band 1 drums, also the noise is reduced HEAVILY.

The guitar has a shorter throw and feels more like the GH one. No clicky like the GH one though.

You should definitely get rid of your old drums. If you want to use the cymbals, they only work with the Rock Band 2 drums.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably pick up a new drum set then. I'll keep my GH guitar, since I'm more comfortable with it.

Two questions. First what makes RB2 better then GH WT in your opinion? Second off doesnt the GH drums have more stuff to hit thus meaning with RB2 drums you wont be able to use them on GH as welL?

RedOctane has already stated that GH:WT would detect the Rock Band drums and would put it down to four notes in the game.

The presentation is something I've come to love from Rock Band 2 and it is what puts it over GH WT for me. Also the drums feel more natural to me on RB2 (obvious bias though since I played RB1 and GH never had drums before)...

But GH WT is still good stuff.

And as for 2nd question, read above.

At the moment I'll stick with my two Strats. As far as games, well RB2 is a definite must-buy, already have it preordered. GH4 is a might. The setlist looks okay right now, but if they have the rumored Tool songs (or any Tool, for that matter) then I'll definitely pick it up Day 1.

Bring on the … game. Sting, frontman for The Police, is joining the Guitar Hero World Tour lineup (Oct. 26 for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStations 2 and 3). The singer/bass player did a motion-capture session to make his virtual doppelganger look and move as he does while performing Demolition Man.
Already announced characters: Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. More music comes from The MC5, Sex Pistols and Motorhead, and metal band Tool plans to have three songs (Parabola, Schism and Vicarious) playable in a specially created venue.
"We're not just building an eclectic set list … but introducing these musicians and their music to new audiences," says Tim Riley of game publisher Activision Blizzard.
