Yeah, they're definitely killing off Master Chief.
Found in the pamphlets available at Projekt Revolution, where Linkin Park (amongst others) were playing live in concert, comes this potentially stomach turning and revealing Halo 3 advert.

Oh man, just finished reading this month's EGM's H3 article. :drool:

Sounds so sexy. I'm probably going to fail school from missing so many days.
 
Would this be a good game for someone who's new to the series? I haven't played Halo 1 or 2, but online co op for 4 players seems pretty appelaing. I've always wanted ot pick up one of the games but I didn't have an xbox when 2 was hot. I'm pretty sure I won't get much fun out of MP, seeing as people are too good at halo at this point I think.
 
You could probably get into it starting with 3. However you'd at least want to have you and whatever friends are playing co-op with you read the general plot of Halo 1 and 2 before playing, just so you can understand what's happening and why.

Luckily, Halo 1 was pretty devoid of story besides introducing the covenenant, Progenitors remains, and the flood. Halo 2's story is mostly about the inner workings of the covenant and only a little into why they're trying to exterimate humanity.

Halo 1 and 2 are backwards compatable on the 360, so you can always play that too.
 
I think I might cry if MC the Chief dies...

But also maybe he won't die? It could be like the Oscars, where they give Lifetime Achievement awards where they celebrate the life and work of a living actor..right?.....RIGHT???!?!

I agree on that one. No matte what name he would have, people still wouldn't like it. At least his last name is 117 ;)

Still, I think the only way to end the trilogy the right way is in his death. If he lives on, then MS or whoever picks up the franchise down the road won't let the character have a fulfilled storyline. Halo as a series can stand a bit better if they go off and tell other stories without chief (ala Halo Wars). Depth to the series will benefit from chief's death. Plus I won't hate on him as much anymore since I don't have to worry about seeing him again too much.

I think in this case Master Chief is more defined by his actions than by his name. ;)

I don't think they'll kill off the Master Chief, it's probably just a marketing ploy.

That, or MC and 299 Spartan 4s have to hold off a massive covenant/flood invasion through some narrow pass or Earth is screwed. MC dies along with 298 other Spartan 4s.

One man survives to tell the story.

Same here. My first missed classes are going to fall on the day H3 comes out... can't wait.

Yeah.....the 25th is definitely the second day of classes for me. For two of the courses, it's the first day....fuck I wish I could miss those.

I'm scheduling the 25th off from work, possibly the 26th and 27th just to make sure.
 
Ha, more and more stuff for them to make a killing on, I don't blame them though.

I knew I made my class schedule like it is for a reason, one hour of English, and I'll be playing Halo the rest of the day.
 
Hm, the US kubricks are a lot cheaper than the one I pre-ordered @ HLJ. Cool, I'll cancel that and get the GS one instead.

You know Linkin, I'm pretty sure it was me who posted the link. I forget the site name too, but I cancelled my PO because I'm pretty sure you told me about BBTS's pre-order, which I also skipped one. Kinda glad I did since GS is getting them now.

I would e-mail their customer service just to make sure. From what I remember when I cancelled my order....they're not exactly..."organized." By organized I mean when I sent them an e-mail to cancel, some woman who read my e-mail answered back like a real person. IDK, maybe I'm just too used to automated messages, but when a human replies back with what seems like an actual human response...it doesn't give me much confidence. I can't describe it any better than that. The e-mail was basically "Ok it's cancelled."

I will probably get it, the price isn't outragous considering you get everything that the premium has plus a play and charge kit or whatever it is, and I think it has HDMI if I'm not mistaken. And will resell for a premium I do I sell it. If it does RRoD I should get the same console back since it is a special edition.
 
What do you guys think is going to be the best way to secure one? Do you think it will really be that limited, or over-produced because of the hype of Halo 3? And do you think it's the same hardware as an Elite minus 100 gigs? My wish is that, since it's newer, it will be a more reliable system. But I'm sure it's probably based on the old faulty ones and not the new rumored tech.
 
Why? Why are you sure? I'm sure that it's based on the new tech. Look, why exactly do you think that they'd hold off more on the new hardware, especially on the SKU that is based on their flagship game? I'm going to say that it will have the new hardware, as I belive that all consoles manufactured in July Up have the falcon chipset and the heatsink. I'm going to also going to say that I have no proof whatsoever but you've never going to get confirmation from microsoft. Soemone's going to have to buy out all of the faulty premiums/ cores, and them confirming the new chips are in just doens't sell them.

You can also wait until someone opens up a july made console, but that's not going to happen. The only people that have those have gotten them when turning in their 360s. THose guys aren't going aren't going to open shit up and I'm with them. Time will tell though.
 
Yeah, I think I'd be buying it more for assurance that it's the newest console (hence, most reliable) rather than for looks. It's pretty fugly IMO, but having an HDMI port would be nice. Though, there's a thread at Fat Wallet pertaining to getting an Elite from Target for just over $400 after the price drop. Might go that route instead.

Hmm. Your best bet is to wait. Personally, I wouldn't buy the Halo 360 just yet if you want new hardware. You'd be better off just waiting for premiums/ elites with the better hardware to be more prominent. The Halo 360 really doesn't offer much unless you're a halo freak.

if it had the 120 HDD I'd be all over it, but yah I'll wait and get an Elite sometime down the line.
