Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info
Enjoy it while you can. The next level is the worst level in Halo history and almost ruined the game for me.
Flood?

This level must be terrible, becuase I've had that feeling all throughout the game. The designers sure are dicks.
You're impressing no one, other than yourself.
 exactly, because I am not trying to. Also I don't like writing long debates. to put it simple lets just say I have an opinion different to most here and elsewhere. Deal with it and I'll deal with it :)

I'm not bashing it, I'm just being opinionated like these forums seem to promote. I'm doing the same thing you are doing as in supporting the game only in a polar opposite.

Just saying my tastes are shallow is too broad of an answer (especially coming from people on a forum that prefer specific details) that has no way to prove or disprove.

Lets stop the debate... if you guys keep bouncing back on the things I don't enjoy about the game this will keep going like most pointless debates... I fucking hate debates and I have nothing I really want to prove, just posting my opinion, onions, and opinonions.

(EDIT: I need a thesaurus... I use the word "opinion" too much ;) )

also a question: to get the skulls you have to be playing at least on normal to get them... right?
Flood?

If you are playing it on Normal, it might not bother you that much. But that level gave me nightmares because I was playing on Legendary and it was so easy to get lost. I swear the four of us all had no clue where to go so the level kept on dragging for over an hour and I wanted to get it over with since it was 5 AM. There was a lot of swearing from all 4 of us. To make matters worse, (minor spoilers)
there is a part where your HUD gets so distorted (like a rave with bright and blinding lights) that your eyes start to hurt after 30 seconds. The problem was that you would only experience it for 10 seconds if you knew where to go but like usual, my team was lost and it took another hour to get past that part (distortions included).
so can the skulls be found on any difficulty?
From my understanding, yes. Me and my friend just went skull hunting on Normal difficulty.

W00t! Played my first multiplayer online and went 20-3 in Big Team Battle. The thing about Halo is that I have an almost OCD-like quality where I absolutely must have a KD ratio of 2.00 or above. It makes the game fun for me due to striving for a goal but at the same time it can make the game not fun. Wish I could just kick back and not care but I can't. :bomb:

I'm finding this game much harder than I thought. I'm playing it 2 player co-op and we tried it on Legendary, but got our asses kicked 5 times in the game's first battle, so we went back to Heroic, and even that it whooping our asses during parts of level 3. This may be because neither of us has played much Halo before, but we're both decent FPS players, but yikes, this game's enemy population is intense. So any tips for Halo newbs?

Also, is there much of a difference between playing as Master Chief and the Arbiter? I was MC and my friend was Arbiter, and I realized they sawn with different weapons. Is one more powerful than the other or are the pretty well balanced?

I just tried the ring sequence 3 times for the IWHBYD skull each time making sure I did it correctly and it still didn't work. Then I noticed by the third ring there's a little red dot on my radar but absolutely no flood to be found. It's almost like it's under me or something. This is the only reason I can think of that it's not working. fucking frustrating.

Oh shit! Thank you for the IWHBYD directions! Me and my friend just got the skull and the Hayabusa Helmet! Woot!

Full Hayabusa armor = Greatness.

How do I start a new solo campaign? I started a game on Heroic, but found it too hard so I'd like to switch to normal, but there's only an option for "resume game" and not starting a new one. I could go into my hardrive and delete my file, but I'm worried that would delete the co-op campaign I'm working on as well. So for the love of god, how do I change this game's difficulty setting?

So people are struggling on heroic? Glad to hear since i'm dieing alot playing on legendary by myself. I haven't played much i'm only on 2nd level because I stuck on the MP. :D Hoping to try co-op over the weekend if I get a chance. It's gotta make things much better.

The characters themselves are the same, I think Arbiter has the cloak naturally but it has a cooldown. I could be wrong on that, plus I think his cloak isn't as good as the one from the power up.

The weapons are kind of a big deal. In some chapters he starts with an energy sword and the Carbine. Most times he starts with Plasma Rifle and Carbine and honestly on Legendary those weapons are worthless. It takes a whole Carbine clip to kill a shielder and an entire Plasma Rifle load to kill a grunt.

Your best bet is to TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't ever try to run through a level because monsters WILL chase you and kill you and on Legendary, even Grunts kick ass.

Try to strategy your way through it. Use flanks, plan grenades, make sure you have a solid retreat path set up so you can spawn your fallen friend if he dies and vice versa. Don't be quick to jump in a vehicle, they can blow up lol.
The best bet is to pick an enemy, shoot until he dies. If you spread out, you'll just end up having to fight the same amount of enemies for a long time. Take out Brutes and Grunts first, and only skip them if there's a sniper or Carbine shooter. 2-3 Carbine shots on Legendary puts you on your back. Use the power ups as much as you can, deployable guard, bubble shield, regenerator. Make sure you know the trip mine icon too so you don't accidently use it on yourself. It's the one that looks like a pyramid shaped thing. Like a mine with a laser pointing up.

Its possible. In the main menu, click campaign. Then go to difficulty and change it.

You don't need to create a new game. Just select the chapter you want to play, and the difficulty you want it to be, all from the campaign menu.

Everyone should note that you can't get skulls on Easy Difficulty (it has to be Normal or higher), and that skulls won't appear unless you start from the beginning of the level (no midpoints). Once you get the skull, you can choose to exit the level and you will keep it.

And yes, sadly in split-screen the game does not use a widescreen ratio. I wish they'd fix that.

Beat campaign and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. There were a few parts that stood out like
The part where The Dawn lands and you're right under it. That was just awesome
and I especially loved the
ending run to the frigate.

Gotta hand it to Bungie for making a good campaign considering I really disliked the campaigns in H1 and H2
so the only way to get skulls is by playing co-op? hmmm... makes sense now.. unless I'm wrong...
No. Who said that? I listed the stipulations for getting the skulls: Normal or higher difficulty, start at beginning of the level. That's it.

People like to get them in coop since only one person has to get the skull in order for the full party to get credit for it, plus one person can easily show the others where a skull is.

Yay, now my scratched collectors edition won't load my save from the single player campaign. This effectively renders my entire Halo 3 disc useless.

It's okay though, it's not like I've been eagerly anticipating this game for over a year. No big deal.

Why did you buy the CE? It was well known before hand that they were shitty.

Most people didn't have their games fucked up because of it.

Plus, I didn't expect my dumbass friend to not notice the discs were loose before he bought it and shipped it to me.

Ooh, and another thing, I've practically made it through the entire campaign but the game has yet to award me any achievements. Like none--at all.

Wow...

Is that why I always see you signing in and out? You disc is fucked?

Yeah, I can't even log in before I start the game up or else my profile won't show up in game when I try to resume campaign or enter matchmaking.

Sidenote: just wiped the disc with my finger for no reason, and now it loaded my campaign. So, uh, semi-win.

So my perfectly scratch free legendary disk is locking up on me. It's done it about 7 times in the last 4 hrs and seems to repeat after it happens once. Should I be in the market for a new x360 to replace my launch system or is this a halo 3 issue? whats weird is i had no lock ups powering thru legendary in nearly one sitting, or in the first few nights of multi hour live play, for that matter none of my other games have ever done this either. At least its not red ring..... yet..

Are you playing on Easy? You don't get Achievements on Easy - it's gotta be Normal or higher.

I didn't hear the Collector's Edition casing was bad beforehand; don't know what the other guy is talking about. Despite the bad casing, my discs are fine. Thank goodness!

Heroic.

And I just finished the game and still got nothing.

Funny thing is, some of my SP achievements wouldn't unlock unless I pushed the guide button.

Oh, and you all were right. Level 8 looks terrible and I haven't even gotten through 5 minutes of it. I liked it when
the flood was on my side
for a litle bit. Going up against the flood when they have swords, brute shots, andything you can imagine = balls and penis.

I got an email from Best Buy saying they will replace my strached LE disc with a disc from the standard edition. Are those discs the same or are they different in any way?

DID SOMEBODY SAY SAMURAI?!

In-game shots of the Hayabusa armour. We took the rip and said it was Power Rangers armor. xD
Hence the name
I literally said that as I licked onto this page from the last. xD

So how do you unlock the other armor in multiplayer? Ihave only 3 of the sparten armor and 2 for the Elite.
