Invulnerability. I've only found it twice in the campaign -- I think the Brute cheiftans with gravity hammers have it and use it as soon as they see you. If you can take them out quick -- say, with a Spartan laser to the face from afar -- they should drop it.

And even worse, if your playing a ranked match, and you exit a game of Juggernaught, or some other random crap you dont want to play, you lose 2 points of experience. So you can lose rank cos you dont want to play gheyball or suckernaught.

They only way to play exactly what you want is thru custom games, with your friends. Want to play a simple game of slayer with regular weapons? Well you can... every 4th or 5th match. Tonight I literally had to cancel out of 5 Juggernaught matches in a row before I got a decent game mode.

Dont get me wrong, I love Halo when Im playing what I want, but fuck Bunjie for not letting me do just that.

I even thought the second wraith in that area might have blasted it off, so I restarted the level and made sure to destroy the wraith before it could fire, but still nothing. I notice that the info for "Catch" on Gamefaqs has been taken down, so I wonder if there are enough people having this issue that there's more to the requirements than "get on top of the silo." Anyone who's found it have any thoughts?

EDIT: Nevermind. According to Gamefaqs, "Reaching it is way difficult, however, since both of the two Wraiths here must be alive when you get to it; if either one is dead, then the skull despawns."

Also, unless it's a glitch, I'm pretty sure the requirements for the Aesetic shoulders is incorrect -- I've got my "Killing Frenzy" achievement, but no shoulders.
 
I just got my copy of Halo 3 in the mail today, so who wants to take a complete Halo noob on a tour?

I never played any of the previous games because I always thought Halo was gay.

Do not destroy the normal wraith. If you do, the skull will disappear.

edit: didn't read your nevermind, but the anti-air wraith doesn'tt have to be alive

I have 12/13 skulls. I only need the tilt skull in the cortana level.
 
Ok, pardon my ignorance, but a friend of mine that was visiting and I hopped online last night to play, which was my first expeirence with game outside of the "Basic Training" playlist.

Say I'm in the mood to play Capture the Flag. Is there a way for me to just start or join a game like that? Or is it all totally random?

Pick a Team Skirmish social or ranked and pray that the game that comes up is Capture the Flag. Big Team Battle also has CTF in it but chances are probably more slim with that.

Ranked has skill levels to match up players and is more competitive in the sense it's easy to go down in levels if you're on a bad streak. I hear you also can't quit games in ranked but I haven't done a ranked match yet so I wouldn't know. Also you cannot start matchmaking for these if the amount of people in your party exceeds the maximum amount allowed on a single side. (4 allowed per team in Team Slayer can only have a maximum of 4 people in the party)

Social doesn't have levels and will tend to match you up more with people who have the same Enlisted Rating as you (Recruit, Private, Corporal, etc). You can also bring in parties larger than the team size for Social as well (although you're probably better off doing custom games if you have that many people).

Also the experience you gain towards you Enlisted Rating is higher in Ranked than it would be in Social. Though you lose experience when you exit a game before it's done in both.
 
Ugh! I don't know why but the Catch skull won't show up for me on The Storm, and I'm not starting from a checkpoint :\

EDIT: NM, reading posts help. The requirement to have the Wraiths stay alive is lame. ;)

Literally just got it. Just don't destroy the regular Wraith. You can also just snipe the Brute on the turret on the anti-air one and leave that one alone too since it can't hurt you.
 
I deff spent like 1.5 hours trying to get the IWHBYD skull and got it but quitted like 30 seconds after I got it and didn't get it. Pissed me off, eventually got it with some friends when my internet came back on.
 
Is there anything special you have to do for the terminals, I have been to all of them and as far as I know they all turned red before I closed them do I need to wait for the hidden message to come up after?

AFAIK, you need to at least get to the message that appears after the screen turns red and the hexagons start doing an orgy. (usually says FRAGMENT ENDS, though not all of them have that)
 
I'm looking for people to go through the campaign on legendary (and get those score achvievemnts as well), I'll be on here and there, feel free to friend and send me invites and I'll be sure to do the same!
 
How do you get MVP? I was playing higher ground and I got 21 kills as opposed to the lowly 12-14 kills that my team got. I'd like to thank the Ghost for that ;). I was about to get the overkill but then they got smart and started shooting rockets/ brute shots at me. Then somebody else pulled out a ghost..

So how do you get MVP?
 
has anyone started a forum where we can share our film clips and screenshots I have a pretty funny one where me and my teamate go off opposite teleporters and bump into each other in mid air causing us both to fall to our death check it out if you want

I learned this the hard way trying to get that skull last night. I had to pile a warthog and 3 ghosts in the back of the silo at just the right angle to get the skull without the normal wraith blowing up the vehicles. :bomb:
 
Some of the skulls suck to get. The IWHBYD skull just takes way to much time. Also the order on the front page did not work. I was on last night and some this morning with Mystic Heat and Twen trying to get some of the skulls. I was on with others but them two I was on the longest with. Mostly because Twen was killing us all the time. Anyway, Twen found another order for that skull that worked for us. The order is 1 3 4 6 7 5 4 6 5 4 5 3 4. This order does work and can be found on http://www.halo3planet.com. Now I'm just looking for 3 people that want to play on Legendary so I can beat the game on it. So if anyone wants to play some legendary just let me know.
 
This was posted in the previous post, but there are at least 2 possible jumping combos for the IWHBYD skull.

The short combo is 1 3 4-6 7 5-4 6 5-4 5 3-4 5 4-5 3 4 (dashes added for readability).

I got 13/13 skulls last night with the last one being the tilit skull. Hayabusa rules!

Not sure of the requirements but you basically have to be the best player of the match...getting the most kills out of everyone else doesn't automatically get you it. Sometimes the KD or Medal count is what counts.

It's pretty much Random on Slayer Games. K:D and Medals do count. Also on Objective games the person with the most Flag Caps and such usually get MVP.

Any suggestions for the meta-game achievements? I'm thinking at least two player co-op on heroic with the Iron skull, maybe the Fog skull as well.

Also, I'm having a darned time getting the "In For Some Chop" achievement, and "Headshot Honcho" as well. It says you can do both of these in campaign or ranked FFA, yet I can't seem to get either in campaign.

Finally, I need to beat the game on Legendary, and I clearly won't be able to do it without some help. Thing is, my schedule is very opposite of most of you and I'm also busy all this week. Hopefully, some of you will still be interested in the campaign in a week or two.
 
WTF? I played through the part of THe Storm to get to that small tower, parked a ghost, did the grenade jump, and the catch skull isn't there. What the hell? I'm playing on normal and I started from the begining of the level.

Just figured out why. Bungie = dickheads.

I can confirm "Headshot Honcho" shows up in Campaign -- the very end of Sierra 117 is a good spot to pick it up. "In For Some Chop," not so much. I can't seem to get it either. I've blown up numerous Brute choppers with trip mines, and nothing. My current theory is that the hits the marines are getting with the warthog gun are "stealing" my kills. I'm going to go frag all my squadmates and then see if it shows...

Lastly, my previous post about the shoulders not unlocking with "Killing Frenzy" should be amended -- it's the commando shoulders that are supposed to appear, and aren't.

Headshot Honcho is Sniper Rifle only, and it has to be in one mission/FFA game.

What about destroying a vehicle with equipment? I'm assuming equipment means Trip Mine, Power Drain, etc., but I actually tried doing that yesterday on Tsavo Highway, Normal, solo, with the Trip Mine on a Wraith, and I didn't get it.

Try doing it on Tsavo Highway on a Brute Chopper with a trip mine. That's how I got it.

The only time I remember even using one was when I picked one up at the end of The Ark. However, it didn't help much since there were only Brutes flying around. However, you should also refer to Trakan's post.

And, Ooooh, that's why I didn't get the headshot achievement. Going to play The Ark then again soon.
 
There's a better way to get the IWHBYD skull, it was much shorter.
I'll try to get the order from my friend, I know it was about half as long as the one posted here.
 
I just got the MVP achievement in 1 Flag CTF. All you have to do is get the most points in the match. We won 2-0, I got both flags, not most kills and I got MVP. I'd never thought I'd get that one.

I'm hopefully going to play Co-op legendary tonight with the guy I mentioned earlier between 8-10 central. I have another guy already lined up and he's good. I'm trying to get one more person.
 
Why is Bungie net so broken? I sent 2 " Hi Res Photos" to Bungie net 5 minutes ago and they won't show up on my page. Just like there's no screenshot for my armor. I wonder if this correllates.

Also, I got 8 kills in a row in my most awesome rape ever. Then someone got that other ghost and raped me. I'll never get that chance again :(.
 
Is there a tracker thing that tracks like your time played total/weekly and or kills/ratio and stuff like that some people have here for Battlefield and other pc games? I recall people used to have something like this for Halo 2 back in the day....

I know about looking up stats on Bungie I was just wondering about the hours played part or a nice little compact tracking box.
