Halo 3 Legendary Edition w/ $10 Coupon @ EB/GS

leapfrogX

CAGiversary!
This isn't very cheap ass, but I thought some might be interested anyways. EB/GS has Halo 3 Legendary Edition up for presale for $99, and you can use coupon code DIAMOND for $10 off. I have no idea how actually limited these will be, but I assume with the high price tag and ridiculous helmet-case, that they will be much more scarce than the Halo 2 "limited" edition. They are serialized in any case, so maybe that's a good sign :)

There is an extra $5 shipping charge, though.

Sounds like a good deal for those that want it. Good looking out, OP.

If you want to edit your thread title you have to "Go Advanced". You'll be able to edit it there.

Sweet deal OP, but the final shipping cost might negate some of the savings depending on the weight of the package.

well basically it might only be$5 off after coupon b/c of this disclaimer:

Due to unusual size and weight a $5 shipping and handling fee will be added to all orders. The fee is subject to change once actual package weight has been confirmed.

Got in before you:) Usually this happens to me when I see disclaimers.

wow, this game is a full year away, i might even forget later on if i preordered or not... i'll probably wait since a lot can happen in a year...

Word is 25 Legendary per store, so I was the FIRST one to pre-order at my local GS when they went "pre-order available" yesterday. Was about to be miffed because I'm paying full retail... but the shipping will probably nulify most of the savings. And I can inspect my unit in-store to be sure I got a good one.

I think the legendary is worth it. After all, only $30 more than Collector's. I'd say get one while you can.

Thanks for the help with editing :) I updated the OP to show the $5 shipping charge. Good to hear about the 25 per store; that doesn't sound like much. I might even consider leaving it sealed :p

I'd preorder it if it wasn't so damn far away. Who knows how far it might get pushed back if anything goes wrong.

The 'problem' with this game is that by getting the $100 version, you're probably going to spend at least $130 on Halo 3 in the first year of its existence, i.e. over twice the MSRP of the basic game. And that's not exactly what I'd call "cheapass". I really don't think Bungie's going to be nearly as 'cool' about the maps and other inevitable DLC this time around.

I know many of you can't spend enough on this series, but I'd like to set my Halo budget for 2007 at $100, and the extra playable content sure to come is going to be far more important than the non-playable s***.

P.S. I've already thought of the "Yeah, but by spending $25 now, it won't seem like the game even costs that much next year!" argument. I happen to think it's a pretty weak one, too.

P.P.S. People getting the Legendary edition will probably spend more like $200 on the game in that first year. Yes, I think that much various DLC will be available, including, I fear, online co-op. They are going to make EA look like a nonprofit organization with this one, trust me. They know the fans can't say "No" to what they're offering here.

Theoretically, I wouldn't preorder unless I saw what the helmet replica looked like. ie: Is it 1:1 scale, or something of a desk warmer like the little V for Vendetta mask at BB.

Those 3 extra discs of content are quite nice, though. I think $100 sounds about right for a 4-disc + helmet set.

The word is that it would basically fit a cat's head (1up.com reported it this way) or maybe Beetlejuice from The Howard Stern Show. But probably not you or anyone you know. I think that this is a good thing, whether the geeks realize it or not right now.

i doubt they would make us pay extra for co-op...probably just for extra maps they make in the future, like they did with H2

Well, believe what you will, but for me, it's now 'Assume the worst' for 'next-gen' gaming. Has been, actually, for almost a year now. They're not exactly coercing me to rethink my mentality, either.

actually, this is from xboxlivediamond members... it's $10 any $75 purchase at either store online:

GameStop.com - Online Only
Use coupon code Diamond to receive $10 off any online purchase of $75 or more (not valid on bundles or bonus/premium items)

Well, if it fits on a cat's head that's good enough for me, my cat is going to be Master Chief for Halloween.

I want pics!

I know my wife is already gettig horned up over Halo 3, and once I tell her about the Legendary Edition, it will be a done deal. I'll just preorder in-store, though.

Sounds good, but...Halloween '08? You do realize that in all likelihood, Halo 3 will miss next October 31st, too, right? (If only by a week or two.)

Next November:

$300 Xbox Premium + Halo 3

vs.

$500 Premium PS3 + MGS4

FIGHT!!
