Halo: Reach

Wow so im trying to play co-op legendary on oni. First time i joined a 3 man party, one guy dies so they all leave. Second time two guys get in some car in the back and drive around fucking off, drive over one guy, he leaves. Seriously who spends 5 minutes voting for the right map, just to fuck people over? I can see this is going to be a great way to play the campaign on legendary.

That's the kind of challenge you really need friends for. Random people simply are going to be out for themselves. It's the same as when they had the target designator one in Firefight. Can't even tell you how many times I got killed or had my shields taken down or had some douche run right into the area where I had laid the target.

Awesome.... met someone in firefight today, joined him and 2 randoms. I died right away so i just took out everyone for them, lead them to an easy perfection. Then they did the same for me through the level a 2nd time. I only died 47 times the first time through.... so close! LOL

 • Lineup rebalanced to offer more kill, less frill.
 • Removed Infection
Thank God that stupid ass Infection gametype will be gone from Rumble Pit.
I liked Infection, I don't see why people don't like it?
I liked Infection, I don't see why people don't like it?
Maybe because you end up hearing the announcer say, "Neuuuuwwww Zombie," 30 times in a match and that gets annoying.:wall: Also, I never get chosen to be the ones with a shotgun. It's fun though; in small doses.

Was all the way at the end, doing everything perfectly.

I get blindsided by a grunt with a fuel rod, LITERALLY out of now where. No motion tracker blip, no grunt sounds, nothing. Challenge failed.

There's no explanation to the amount of rage.

EDIT: It was actually one of those yellow elites, like major general or something or other with a fuel rod. Snuck in to the right of me, right outside the door to pick up the rockets and kill the Phantom and then ends the mission. Pot shots me and runs away. So pissed.

Well, actually its like...6 times? I don't have a problem with that, I think Infection is quite fun. Plus, if you are the guy with the shotgun, you can sit in a solid spot and just mow people down.
I liked Infection, I don't see why people don't like it?
I don't necessarily have a problem with infection myself. I do have a problem seeing it get voted 30 times in a row and never get a chance to play anything else.

Yeah, I think that is pretty much a lot of people's issue with some of these more niche modes. We don't mind them...we just don't want them all the time. It's the same complaint people had about SWAT prior to it getting it's own category.

Infection was good for getting Bulltrue medals (unlocking emile's avatar helmet), shotgun sprees, and what not. I won't miss it, but I don't see a reason to take it out completely.

It was taken out completely because it's getting its own playlist aka Living Dead. Bungie usually has that playlist around for Halloween/October but I think it might be a permanent list for Reach.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got "A Monument to All Your Sins" and it only took 19 hours!!! I'm soo happy! Now just 4 more hours til Extra Life is finished. If you haven't donated yet, there's still time. Just use the link in my sig!!!

It was literally the most grueling thing to get that achievement. I can't even describe the relief I felt when I heard the "bleep-bloop!" Awesome!

Yeah, I really hope Infection and the race games reappear in their own play list. I've said all along there needs to be a Lone Wolfs mode that's nothing but slayer games and then either another free for all mode with all the other rumble pit stuff, or give Infection it's own and the vehicle ones it's own.

I hate the voting system personally. Prefer games like COD where most every mode has it's own playlist and you just vote map, then people can just play what they want and quit bitching and switch playlists when they want variety.
I liked Infection, I don't see why people don't like it?
It is unbalanced, kids all vote for it when it shows, and it bastardizes normal Halo gameplay, and it is a niche gametype so it doesn't need to be in a standard playlist.

The only gametype that can get away with this is Grifball because that is actually fun, but even that should never show in a Team Slayer or Objective list and it should have its own playlist because a lot of people don't want to play it when they are looking for standard objective or slayer.

Yep, again, just make a bunch of very specific playlists and let people play whatever they want rather than lumping a bunch of very different game types together in playlists that make no sense.

Damn another campaign challenge, "beat nightfall on legendary without dying". I know once you get to the first area that needs help, you can totally run past that. I think the hardest part might be at the end if i remember right. Elites and grunts sitting in those little gun turrets.

The other challenges arent really worth that much.

Didn't know if this was mentioned, but I know people were complaining about not being able to play in playlists because they don't own the DLC.
We’ll make sure you get to play these suckers as much as humanly possible should you decide to plunk down 800 Microsoft points in support of our DLC Team’s efforts. Unlike the map packs of yore, we won’t only be offering a playlist specifically tailored for players with access to DLC. The haves and the have-nots can swim in the same pool and our newly retooled matchmaking algorithms will systematically segment the player base properly so you won’t have to worry about where you can get your next hit of new map smell. They'll be seamlessly incorporated into the already existing playlists as primary voting options.

Other good changes coming.
-Firefight is a whole set and not one round
-No SWAT in multi team
-Two new forge maps coming!
-New firefight map also coming!
-No more friendly fire in firefight
-Level cap being raised and new armor being added
I think some of that was mentioned, but whatever, there it is again.

One thing I will give to Bungie is, all the crap on their forums, they are still able to do SOME stuff that the "community" wants. Kudos to them for that.

fuck today's challenges tho.

New armor, no friendly fire in firefight, new forge maps free....nice. Is the new armor, added armor, or just armor thats new since the cap is lifted? But im going to miss Multi-team swat. I love playing it against a lot of guys, and not just 4.

Thank GOD. Well, for the DLC thing. The best match of SWAT I've ever played was Multi-Team with a bud.

I'll miss you, Multi-Team SWAT.

There's a way to get past this while still dying.

Why dont you explain yourself?

Does it work if you save your game, and load a past checkpoint if you die?

Just plug in a second controller and have your guest profile do all the work. The only reason I bother doing this is to help raise the level cap (117 million daily challenges completed).

Yes Firefight a whole set is good to hear.

Also the problem I have with Infection is it always ends up with people getting to places on the map that the zombies can't get to or have a hard time thus getting shot everytime.

Well I just started my legendary campaign grind, finished the first 2 missions today and am gonna tackle the daily campaign challenge with a buddy. Funny how the first mission took me only 35 min and the second 49 min. Maybe the later missions will be tougher.

the training wheels well wear out soon.

Is there something wrong with the assist challenge for today? When I die the first time in any MP match, it says I failed the challenge, and it doesn't count my assists for the rest of the match towards the challenge.

Anyone else having issues with the "Pass the Rock" challenge? It keeps saying I failed it about a minute into the match.

Also, for those who aren't that good, play a lot of rumble pit. I did this a lot when I started on Halo 2, and did like a progress check every now and then with team slayer to gauge whether I'd gotten good enough to, at the very least, not hold back the team. While I'm still not amazing at this game, I've come a long way (and good lord did I suck at Halo).

Edit: ^looks like I'm not the only one.

Weird. I was contemplating on starting my Legendary solo run this weekend so I finished Winter Contingency last night and Oni Sword Base about an hour ago. I might pace myself by limiting my Legendary solo run on the weekend so I don't burn myself out on top of the daily/weekly challenges.

Yeah that exactly what I'm doing right now, just maybe 1 or 2 missions a day should take me about a week tops in addition to any daily challenges. Solo legendary is definitely challenging, but so far not impossible as many people claim on some forums, mostly b.net lol.

Anyway good luck hope it goes smoothly.

Oh my f*****g god, I keep forgetting about doing that every time one of these challenges comes up!

Before I forget and you get too far in your solo Legendary run, I'm also getting the data pads in each level. There's one that you can get on any difficulty and one that only shows up on Legendary. I'm using the video walkthrough from Bungie.net's Reach Achievement Guide. It states that it doesn't unlock anything or complete an achievement but that could change down the road. Wouldn't hurt to get them now for something to possibly unlock later unless they made it so that it doesn't retroactively count.

I got that too, they must have messed up and made the challenge think you have to do it without dying. Which is impossible.

I also was playing co op legendary and got a few headshots toward the challenge, but once i quit since i died, i lost those headshots and im back at 0.

Well i got 2 of the challenges done. Now i can try to do the campaign challenge, and see if they fix the assist challenge.

you got it!

also helps with flawless cowboy just save and quit on the last checkpoint and keep reloading but you don't get that much cR and its pretty boring

Does that really work with all campaign levels? I know it does with Winter Contingency, but I thought it might have something to do with the way the level ended. I've never tried it with other levels.

I was trying to do the challenge with 2 controllers, man its a bitch dying so fast, then having to run all the way from where the 1st player is, to where the action is. I was up to the giant beast things before a saw that i wasnt playing online, so the challenge wasnt even in effect. So i just said fuck it, i dont care, and its not worth the time. It really puts you at a disadvantage when you run out of sniper bullets, die, and they replace it with the AR, which is a very crappy gun. Oh well.

I hope they dont have more of these challenges, because id actually like to play levels on legendary and beat them with others through the matchmaking. But if they are going to keep up with these challenges, i can expect to play 1 level only, and have teammates leave once they die.
It works it's just easiest on Winter Contingency.
Thank you for the clarification. I should have known. Would have been able to do them. Oh, well. At least I know for future reference.
Thank you for the clarification. I should have known. Would have been able to do them. Oh, well. At least I know for future reference.
The last checkpoint on Winter Contingency is just really well placed, you kill the 4 grunts and IDEALLY only the sword elite then complete the mission. That's why it's easiest to farm flawless cowboy and demon.

Also because you can run passed all the enemies up until that point in the mission, save for the elites and grunts before you get back on the falcon.

Yeah works on all missions easiest for me was oni sword base because you're given a checkpoint where theres only 2-3 banshees in the air and they're instantly killed by emile but its so boring and tedious

So the new cool thing to do is go on top of the roof in Asylum. Its pretty annoying when you play it on swat. I was wondering why so many people voted for that map over countdown, now i know why. I was able to get three killjoy awards because of this.

That's not new, people have been doing it since launch, and they're putting a soft kill zone up there.

Just finished a monument to all your sins and it really wasn't that bad. There were a couple of tough parts, but if you soften up an area by sniping with your DMR and let your teammates help out it makes the challenge more manageable.

sort of related to Reach but last night I looked in halo waypoint to see what I needed to do to unlock some of the Reach armor and it unlocked the avatar awards for playing in the Reach beta (I didn't play in the reach beta at ALL)

I don't know if this was a waypoint error or a error because I have the new dashboard, but I'll take it

It does that for some people

hmmmm a couple challenges look pretty hard. 30 kills in one game for the weekly challenge, i dont think ive ever had more than 29. Usually average around 10-16 kills a game. As for the daily challenges, 10 sprees today.... that could be difficult, 10 enemies while jet packing.... not sure if this has to be done in one game or not. The way its worded sounds like you wont have to do it all in one game.
