Halo: Reach

I turned my xbox on today and got the warning message about being banned if i quit one more game, before the game even loaded up to the menu. WTF. I got the challenges done pretty fast. Didnt feel like playing after that. But I started a swat magnum game but quit and then got banned again because i forgot about the warning. LOL.

Yeah same here finished the rest of my achievements today and got my challenges done as well. Now what do I do lol. man the days are going by extra slowly until Black Ops.

I think I'm going to have to break down and buy Black Ops. Reach just isn't grabbing me, at all(Can just look at my stats, I'll jump on for a game or two and decide I'm done :( ). I know I blamed the community earlier, but it's definately not that. I don't know what it is. I havn't had a game hook me since socom 2 and socom 3(just a little bit). Maybe it's the gameplay, idk. The only mode in Black Ops I really want to play is search and destroy. I love that round based gameplay. I almost wish Halo had a 6v6 round based mode or something.

God socom was the glory days of online console gaming for sure. Now the socom is fucking trash that they have out and the new one looks even worse.

GunGame and One In The Chamber are what is really grabbing my attention for Black Ops. The Wager Matches look awesome. I used to play GunGame aaaaall the time in good ol' Counter-Strike.

Kind of ironic that we're discussing Black Ops in the Reach thread, eh? All in all, my interest in Reach is draining, even if it's only because there's these huge gaps in me being able to play online. Shit sucks.

hustle, I'm waiting before calling 4 trash. Zipper has said Online will be different from SP and they know we want a good competitive shooter like Socom 2. If MP looks like SP then I'll write it off, but until then I guess I'm trying to be optimistic. I don't know if you knew, but Zipper didn't make confrontation. A psp developer did.

But you're right, Socom was a classic console MP game. I miss those days so much.

Yeah I know they didn't make Confrontation, but they did make S3 and Combined assault so I think they can pull it off but I won't hold my breath. I dunno maybe I have high standards but I thought Halo 2 and 3 were quite superb, Reach is far from them. MW2 campaign as I've said in the past was probably one of the handful of good campaign experiences I've played but the MP was horrendous.

The reason I bought (and sold) my PS3 was confrontation. Maybe zipper can bring back the franchise and justify me buying another.

I believe they will, on one of their podcasts Seth Luisi(lol him, anyway) said confrontation was the low point of his career. So I expect S4 to have a good online game. But who knows, we're still probably a month and a half away from a real MP reveal. Even that's not set in stone, but one of the community guys posted recently on their forums he expects an unveiling before the end of the year.
Protip: Stop being a pussy
Or team up with a group of friends. Seriously, it's not that difficult. You don't have to quit every time a match doesn't go your way.

Unfortunately, Bungie has not implemented a system to count how many times people have purposely quit from a game. If that ever happens, there should be a title on the player's nameplate associated with the number of times he or she has chosen to quit; such as but not limited to: lame, deserter, no friends, quit life, etc. That way, the other players in the lobby can know beforehand what to expect from certain players. Of course, this is all hypothetically speaking and maybe pointless, but I'd honestly like to see how many times players have chosen to quit merely for "lag/intolerable situations."

I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone since I understand the amount of BS that happens on a daily basis within the confines of this game. I just can't stand people who quit and give up in all walks of life; not just gaming.

On a side note, who the fuck tracks their rank past the threshold cap? I can just imagine what it's like to carry on a conversation with someone who does that.

The 7th Number does, ya bustah.

Nothing really wrong with it, seeing what you can get/where you're at while your rank is stuck where it's at currently. I probably wouldn't do it all the time personally, but every once in a while.

Yeah I track it, its one of the things that keeps me playing this game. Something to shoot for. I dont check it often, i know exactly how many cR i need to get to certain ranks without having to check it officially.

Right now i have 584,000 cR. 660,000 ill hit Brigadier rank 1..... 780,000 brigadier rank 2.... 900,000 brigadier rank 3..... and 1,140,000 General.

Looks like possibly 4 more days till the cap comes off.
I don't understand this complaint. If Reach didn't have Armor abilities it wouldn't be Reach, it'd just be a few tweaks and one or two new weapons.

What you were expecting was Halo 3 Part 2.
Nope. I was expecting a proper way for Bungie to end the series. I'm okay with Sprint, but the other abilities just don't feel like Halo at all. Why do these group of Spartans have abilities, but the best Spartan out of all of them doesn't? Makes no sense really. It's whatever though. I got Lt. Colonel on Monday and all that's left are some campaign achievements and then I can go on to some other multiplayer, until Bungie releases a pro playlist.

I saw this screen shot posted on facebook..... thought id share it.

TMNT!
Why do these group of Spartans have abilities, but the best Spartan out of all of them doesn't?
The Master Chief doesn't need them; his balls are big enough to simultaneously shield him from damage, obscure him from detection, revitalize his stamina, fly him to safety, and roll him from danger's reach.

Halo 3 had some of the armor abilities but they had limited charges, now it's just implemented that they have durations and until you die you're locked into your choice. If they put dual wielding back into the game, you see less grenade spam (even though you'd still experience it) and we'd be complaining how broken dual wielding is. Overcharged Plasma Pistol/Magnum and Dual needlers would be the flavor of the month.

Figure, we're all playing within the same mechanics of the game so just adapt and overcome.

the TMNT shot is funny, seems like they upped the saturation on the color a bit. I suppose the elite on top is supposed to Shredder...now if they put 2 Brutes in there as Bebop and Rocksteady, I'd have to give them kudos.

As for quitting mid game, I've quit 2 Scoreattacks because I had to take a business call other than that? I've been 1 v 4, even where their entire team melee'd and t-bag my lifeless corpse after I died over and over again. Silly cowards.

...on a lighter note. Best FF voice line today: Kat - I'm not sure wtf I did, I remember throwing a stickie on 1 grunt and it netted me a triple kill and she started giggling hysterically like a little school girl. Then she apologized and said that she promises it'll never happen again. Glad to see she's still has a shred of cute in that hardened spartan shell.
Why do these group of Spartans have abilities, but the best Spartan out of all of them doesn't? Makes no sense really.
Reminds me of why the Starwars prequels all had shiney ships and seemingly better wpn technology (it was a better time). I didn't reach the journal or the books but seems that before the fall of Reach all the Spartans had more resources to draw from. Besides, MC could dual wield. That's a pretty badass ability that none of the Noble Team could do in game (Cut scenes don't count)
Why do these group of Spartans have abilities, but the best Spartan out of all of them doesn't? Makes no sense really.
Because Master Chief isn't the "best" Spartan

I've beaten a team of four with just me and another person before. I'm sure it was embarassing for the other team. Giving up sucks though, I wouldn't. You can still, at least, get kills if you're creative. I don't quit out, but I could see why others would.

Wow seriously, i start up halo today and before i can press start at the menu, i get the warning of ban message again. How long is this going to stay with me? Yeah i admit 2 days ago i quit too many games, but the last 48 hours i quit 1 game and i get banned. So stupid. I can see the probation lasting 24 hours, but shit give me a break.
Does anyone know if the 111 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking works in Score Attack? It should, but someone is telling me they heard it does not.
It does, i just did it not too long ago. There are 120 enemies in gruntpocalypse, and i got 2 challenges done in 1 match of that.
Does anyone know if the 111 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking works in Score Attack? It should, but someone is telling me they heard it does not.
Yeah whenever it says firefight matchmaking score attack always counts.

On the ban issue, I believe it resets every Sunday, I got banned for getting booted for betraying people on purpose when the game first game out. I thought it would be like Halo 3, but I have since changed my ways and have not got it since.

a week and then a month after
got hit with a probation too and only quit a couple of times prior to that day

That one made more sense as the old movies were after the clone wars had ravished the galaxy, and then the on going rebellion etc. A few decades of war would probably knock the luster off of luxuries like fancy ships etc. :D

Fall of Reach isn't too long before Master Chief (given he's on the ship in the cryo sleep thing at the end of the game) so hard to believe they had no armor with powers for him.

Man, for some reason i thought the campaign challenge was any headshots. I went through the whole level got about 33 headshots with sniper, level was over, challenge reset. So i had to get 33 headshots all over again. But this time i would get some, die, get more headshots, die. Its so much easier. I thought the headshots would carry over when i replay the level, but no you have to get 40 in the same playthrough.
That's what I figured. I have no idea why the person told me that specifically did not work. Thanks for the confirmation 7th.
I did the challenge on sniper score attack, when you save a gruntpoc film clip it'll say that the difficulty level is easy for some reason...so I thought this wouldn't count. Apparently it still worked out for everyone.

As for the sniper headshot challenge...yeah, I pretty much ran through until I ran out of ammo then just hit restart level 3x. Worked out nicely. Glad I didn't save and quit for that one.
I was able to start the level over and kept my status. Started over 3x
I had the same problem as 7thNumber this morning before work. Got around 33 and chose "save & quit" so I could start the level over and just get the remaining 7 at the beginning and it reset me to 0. That pissed me off.

Did it at lunch and had no problems getting 40 once I found some sniper ammo in the waterfront section.

I thought it was because he was an original spartan, the spartans in reach are the second versions.

MC was just late to the party, which is why he missed out when they were giving AA away...but at least he's not stuck on Reach. ...and they didn't install the dual wielding inhibitor chip either. :D

speaking of MC and reach its funny how quick people debate whether it was linda or chief in the cut scene
everyone knows it was linda amright?

why would it be linda?
how can the story be debated when it obviously doesnt mirror the books version of events.
When someone kills another person, can they both talk to each other for a split second, or is it just the killer talking to the dead, or how does that work?
you need to be more specific. also, not everyone has their mics on.

not crazy about the stockpile achievement, looks like the one that'll be the most complicated without a XBL party. The rest look pretty common and achieveable w/some concerted effort or just random luck.

shitty dlc looks like you would have to boost the stockpile one or join a public stockpile with 4 controllers and let them idle while you do all the work
When someone kills another person, can they both talk to each other for a split second, or is it just the killer talking to the dead, or how does that work?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you usually can hear the opposing team as long as you are within close proximity to them. Of course they need to have their mics on and in the game chat; unless they set their chat options to "team only" or whatever. If they're in a party chat, I'd assume you cannot hear anything.

I always thought you couldnt hear them unless you were dead. Which gives people a second or two to trash talk before they respawn. IDK.

No at least on Multi-team I can hear players in my proximity. Gives me a heads up in case the radar is scrambled.

Flag achievement looks crappy and the 2 kills from grave is probably more about luck ie sticking someone as you die and have them run into someone.
The playlist "update" they are doing on Tuesday is ridiculous. Where the fuck is grifball at. They change 2 things with arena? That's it?
They get the Grifball settings from an outside group just like the MLG settings. They've said in a prior update that they're waiting on the gametypes from that group.
vehicle battle in this game is always one ****ing sided
pretty much, once a team gets your team locked down it's gg. usually ppl will quit as well, then it's 4 vs 8 and they have a banshee, a tank, 2 ghosts, and someone is out there with the sniper rifle. Hemmorrage gives me a hemmorrage everytime I play it.

played SWAT magnums for the first time, got my 1st triple kill like 5 seconds into the match. SWAT apparently is the wtg for the weekly challenge. Despite 3 r-tard respawns which gave someone the 7 kill medal (vs 4 ppl).
