Halo: Reach
Haha, yeah, seriously.

I'm looking forward to that next forge map. More areas to make cool maps with.
I was hoping for a brand new palette similar to Foundry vs Sandbox but I'm not encouraged by that video.
Dang, 1000 MM kills as the weekly challenge...easy for ppl that don't work 10-12 hour shifts. Oi.
It's easier to digest when viewing it as 143 kills/day. That's a little short of ten multi-team matches per day, assuming a modest 15 kills per match. Ten minutes a match puts you just over an hour and a half of playing time each day.

Yeah I know, just someday I don't feel like competitive MM which only means if I want this attainable challenge I may have to grind out some MM with my buds.
 Again, are most of you new to the Halo universe? $10 for 3 maps is not new.
Just cuz I'm not buying it doesn't mean I'm new, I've never bought a map pack from Bungie and ended up playing on all the maps eventually anyway.

Plus they said they wouldn't screw people who don't buy it like they did with H3, they won't be required to play matchmaking.

And regarding the thermometer, for all we know they are just making up the level of how many challenges we've done, for all the people bitching they could just fill it tomorrow. I think it's stupid that they gave a visual representation that could be interpreted various different ways as opposed to actual numbers.

I really enjoy playing this game, and I play a lot, but I don't see myself getting 1000 MP kills in a week, especially now with New Vegas taking up most of my gaming time. I've gotten every weekly challenge so far, but I don't know if that streak will continue.

Either this game is fucking broken or I'm still not understanding the mechanics of armor lock.

When someone melees you while you are in armor lock, are they supposed to lose their shield or not?

I've had countless times that I've armor locked when someone is going in for a melee or sword lunge and they lose their shield by hitting me, I release and melee them back.

Then there are quite a few times that someone melees me while I'm in armor lock, nothing happens I pop back out to melee and they end up killing me by some way, be it weapon or another double melee.

That's not how armor lock works. While you're in armor lock, it doesn't matter what the other person does. Nothing happens to their shields. When you release the armor lock, it sends out an EMP blast, and that's what takes down the shields of any nearby enemies.
I really enjoy playing this game, and I play a lot, but I don't see myself getting 1000 MP kills in a week,
Yeah, it's not possible for me. With me getting 10-15 kills or so most rumble pit slayer matches (and the same or less in team modes) I just don't have the time to play enough to rack up that many in a week.

I'm also pretty sick of the competitive modes and pretty much just play if there's a doable daily challenge tied to MP modes. Otherwise I'm just mainly playing fire fight/score attack for challenges to get up to Lt Col for that achievement.

Hmmm I guess the times I've killed people they were close enough to get EMP'd but I dunno I'll chalk this up to lag as well then.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Your wrong on that one, If you melee while they are in armor lock shields are gone. I have had it happen to me a lot.

Really? I had no clue. I would have sworn that I melee'd people that were in armor lock, and nothing happened. As someone else said, this game suffers from a lot of lag issues. My apologies for spreading false info.

Does it matter how long you are in armor lock? Sometimes i do a quick in and out and it doesnt seem to take away the enemies shields. Do you have to wait for the full charge to end to remove their shields? Armor lock is okay... but when you are in a tight space the camera really screws you up because it zooms in and you cant see where the guys are or if they threw a nade.

I don't think it matters. I've gotten people's shields down by doing the quick lock. As we were talking about, I think it has a lot to do with the game's lag issues.

Let Armor Lock go it's full (or half) duration causes an EMP that removes shields. Going in and out just sheds stickies or gives you a split second of invulnerability. Though I haven't tested this, I assume that hitting someone in Armor Lock also may cause an EMP backlash or sorts. This would explain why I sploded myself once on someone with Armor Lock on.

LOL I knew I wasn't crazy, sometimes people attack me with the sword while I'm locked and I see their shield pop while I'm still kneeling so I get out and melee them then take the sword.

What sparked my first post about this was I was playing today, dude hit me with the sword while I was locked and his shield flickered a tiny bit, like he got hit with very little damage, so I released and melee and he kills me.

Usually that happens when you block a lunge with a sword and you take massive damage when they take very little. In your situation it sounds like something went wrong.

Knocked out 3 of the 4 daily challenges...didn't bother with the campaign one since it was only 500 credits.

Didn't think I'd get the 17 kill one after getting 16 in my first match in Rumble Pit then having some rough games after, but ended up with 18 in a Slayer DMR on Asylum.
for next time with that campaign challenge load the 1st level, 2nd checkpoint and you will get it very quickly.
Thats what i did, jump out of the heli, shoot em up, die, repeat. Only takes about 4 times to get 50.

Wow i had a weird glitch today. I was in a ghost crossing a bridge on Paradiso, when i got stuck on the side of the bridge, all of a sudden my ghost goes flying across the lake, hit some rocks, Ghost blows up and i died via suicide. If anyone cares to watch it, here is a link to the video. Funny thing is i couldnt use the word Glitch in the title of the movie, so i just put it as Ghost Suicide.

I got assassinated today and got teleported to the other side of the map...I suppose on the brightside, the guy couldn't t-bag me. If you don't manage to grind out the weekly challenge, just trying will net you a lot of completion cR.

This happens to me once in a while when i get in a vehicle, die, then it shows me dead where i got into the vehicle, not where the vehicle was destroyed.

Anyone notice you can shoot and destroy grenades (frags not sure about plasma)? Blew on out the air yesterday with a BR.

Also whats up with 500 credits for 25 assists. That one is going to take awhile. For the campaign challenge I am thinking one of the skulls which gives everyone a promotion (cant think of the name) on the last level, 2nd checkpoint or maybe Sword base oni start.
for next time with that campaign challenge load the 1st level, 2nd checkpoint and you will get it very quickly.
Oh I knew there were quick ways to do it. That's just not much fun so wasn't worth bothering with for 500 credits, especially since it was getting late by the time I finished the other 3.

The campaign challenges are kinda worthless for the most part, unless you are currently working through the campaign. You can earn 500 credits in one MP match a whole lot quicker than some of the campaign challenges.

That being said, I still do them because it's fun. lol Not to mention I'm doing my part to raise the level cap even though I'm nowhere near it.

You can use the section at the beginning of Sword Base (when you get the target designator) to kill leaders. If you're still looking to boost commendations there, you can kill two birds with one stone.

You know, I was thinking, it would be nice if Bungie did something other than "kill x amount of y in z" for the challenges. I think they could add some variety without going overboard. "Obtain a killing spree in MP Matchmaking" or "get so many medals in a game." It would be great, as long as they don't go for things like "get a sword spree," because then you'll just have assholes all running for the sword and then quitting if they don't get it.

I want to see a Fiesta Challenge. Something like get 5 kills with the Magnum, 5 kills with the Rocket Launcher, 5 kills with the AR, etc. They could do that for all 4 challenges mixing up the weapons in each.

They should also touch on the different game modes. Win 2 Oddball matches, win 3 Flag matches, and so on.

I've shot plasma grenades on the ground before. Ones that you can pick up. Hmmm, i never thought of shooting one as an enemy came close to it though. You would have to be quick to shoot one on the ground before someone picked it up though. Except for what you said, shooting them out of the air.

Yeah, that works well in gruntpocalypse as you can often get a multi kill by shooting a plasma grenade laying on the ground when a group walks over it. Would be harder in multiplayer to time it right.

Finally beat the campaign last night...damn good game. I gotta say though, I like Noble Six's character a lot more than Master Chief. Plus I loved the fact that Noble Six uses your custom armor.

Only 3 more achievements to go.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who took this long to finish the campaign; I finished it last night too. Now to do it all over again on Legendary...

LOL I still havn't beaten the campaign yet, I'm like halfway. I'm like that with most shooters though. I'm really only interested in the multiplayer. Not saying campaign is bad, but I'll get around to it soon enough.

So I played a game of team slayer today, on atom. We got done, our team beat the other team. They had no chance, and honestly it's not like we were that good. I think they just sucked. So then we get back into the lobby and this guy just starts cussing out our team(he's on the other team if you hadn't noticed) about using Armor Lock. And how if it was a game without AL he would've owned us all 1v1. So, I went into theater and half his team was using AL as well. I think someone's butthurt lol, it's not exactly hard to outsmart people using armor lock. The only people I can even sucker in with AL anymore are the dumb ones. Otherwise I mainly have to use it to save my ass.

That's exactly how I am with games. I'm only interested in the multiplayer, and I usually only ever complete campaign if it's in co-op. Haven't had a chance to complete it with a bud yet, only on the 3rd mission.

I remember a time in Halo 3 playing Team Slayer on...Cold Storage, I think it was? There was a guy who was like that. I killed him about 3 times throughout the match, and after he died he'd yell "PRINGLES, YOU ARE SO TERRIBLE AT THIS GAME, QUIT SPRAYING". I don't understand that statement whatsoever. I'm terrible because I killed you?
1000 kills for the week challenge is rather crazy. I've been playing since day 1 and i only have 4k. Thats roughly 142 kills per day.
And that's roughly 994 kills per week. You can do it. =P

tbh, any daily that has to do w/competitive MM is still helping you towards the 1000 weekly kill challenge. You gotta stop thinking about if time spent doing a challenge is worth the bonus cR (especially for campaign ones), just do it...you'd still be chipping away at commendations that you probably wouldn't normally be actively working on. Besides, iirc the AR or Automatic wpn challenge could have been done on easy difficulty as well.

You didn't kill him the right way. You're playing it wrong. Duh!

That logic doesn't work well for those of us with more limited gaming time. I have to have fun playing so I'm not going to waste time replaying a campaign level if it's not a lot of credits (more than I'd get playing MP for the same amount of time etc.).
You didn't kill him the right way. You're playing it wrong. Duh!
Yeah, If everything that was said to be a cheap way to kill someone was removed from the game, we would all be running around with no way to attack the other player. LOL

PS. 20,000 cR away from brigadier... woooo. Im also about 330 close quarter combat kills away from onyx.
How do you look up your rank passed LT Col 3 again?
I think if you sign in, but aren't connect to Live you can check.

i didnt think i was going to get the weekly but after playing multiteam today im sure I will. you can rack kills in that mode.

limited game time or not, the logic is mainly to just do it because it's something to do...exactly like unlocking achievements or trophies. some achievements just seem impossible or not worth it at all. while some of us managed to get "They came to hear me beg" in under an hour, others are still spending time on it or given up to pursue other things...very little cR return for that achievement let alone fun, just the satisfaction that we've completed another task toward something else.

I don't know how much fun I actually have failing to accomplish some of the more challenging dailies, but the attempt regardless is still fun. If it wasn't I'd probably complain more or just stop playing. Campaign ones are necessary because there's tons of ppl who aren't confident in MM. My friend's mom (early 60's) beat Halo 2, Halo 3, and ODST on legendary solo. Even before I did. Go figure, but she's really bad at Slayer.
