Halo: Reach

Wow, today's challenges look like an easy 6k in the bank.

I just hit Captain Grade 3 so I have a long grind(46k CR) ahead, so today's challenges are just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah, pretty easy looking set of challenges. Will have to knock those out tonight. May not bother with the not dying one since it's only 500 credits.

Kind of sucks having another pistol kills in FF challenge after just having one yesterday though.

2 games of score attack, is all it took.

The challenges today are easy. Took me 3 games, but granted, I wasn't using the pistol exclusively either.

I also got a chance to try the glacier map today as well. It kicked my ass fairly bad at the beginning, but... and I'm not sure on this, but it seems like gruntpocalypse goes by quicker on this map. Or at least, it did for me on this one instance.

Dang, 2 games to get the 200 pistol kills? I got around 70 or so a game (well the first game, stopped using it when I got to 100 early in the 2nd game) when doing the 100 pistol kills in Gruntpocalypse yesterday.

I don't do much running and gunning though. Usually hang near an ammo box where they can only come in one or two ways (say in the safe room on hold out).

I hate armor lock, as it is right now. I think it should be tweaked and last a little bit less than it lasts right now. A lot of people that armor lock, I know I could out-DMR them. I think it's a little frustrating to have to retreat if I see one of their team mates coming over to finish me off.

Yeah, 120 grunts per game. Corvette is the best map for gruntpocalypse. You know where the grunts are coming from and they flow right into your crosshairs very easy. I always hangout at the top of the platform to the left of the safe room.

Oh I know, I get the 120 or close (some blow themselves up) most games playing normal, using the DNR, grenades etc. Using Pistol only I wasn't killing them all though since I was dying more etc. and still using the DNR when I needed to reload and had grunts on top of me etc.

I don't enjoy playing team slayer against a group that stays tight and uses Armor Lock. It almost pauses the game in a way; but it's legal and it works. A lot less chance of getting double killed. I also don't enjoy having a camo'd dude who comes up and shotguns me before I know he's there.

The point is: It's never fun to be the guy getting killed. We all have access to the same load-outs. What we do with them is up to us. And yeah, sometimes the other team just works a lot better together. I can't believe how many fools are mic-less on Arena. More often than not, none of my teammates are mic'd, so I just take mine off for the match to avoid marking up my beautiful, shaved head. ;)

If the other team are armor lock users I usually try to let them come to me. I quit being the aggressive one then. I've noticed times where if you wait sometimes they end up breaking apart so if one is going to armor lock hopefully he doesn't have a buddy around.

Say I have a question, I'm finishing up a map in forge and when it's done(hopefully in the next day or so) would anyone like to join a custom game with me and check it out? I would upload to fileshare, but I only have USB storage so I can't. Or I could get my sister to save it and upload it to her fileshare. This is my second version of the same map, I restarted over and imo it's turning out very well. I learned some things from my V.1 that I changed.
My GT is tbhysgb if anyone wants to check it out. Hell I could host a custom game even if it's not finished, I could use ideas on anything you think should be added.

not sure how you can complain when you can rack up a ton of easy cR by playing score attack which already gives you a ton of cR. Unless they're making every challenge, earn 30 bulltrue medals in a FF game bonus cR is bonus cR.

Firefight would be more enjoyable if the AR wasnt such a crappy weapon. I know i could use DMR, shotty, or other guns, but im trying to get automatic weapon kills. But the AR is just really bad. I have to stand 5 feet away from a grunt and unload the whole gun into him just to kill him. Then i have to reload and im dead from other enemies before i can start shooting again. I really hate the AR. They need to beef it up more, to make it up to par with other guns.

try burst firing.

The AR is the all purpose wpn, if they beefed it up it would be the only purpose weapon.

Burst firing works wonders, I got a majority of my automatic weapon kills (and I know it's you trying to get to commendations just like the rest of us) from the needler. You get super combine medals, sometimes multikills, and it counts towards your Riflin' Through commendation.

Yes this is what usually happens with games now that everyone is good during Team Slayer. I started using this technique too, use the lock and let your buddy take the enemy out. Well you might not score the kills but you'll be the support of your team.

I use armor lock only on maps with vehicles. That way when someone tries to run me over I can just armor lock and stop it.

But its not fun to fight against. Even if I kill the person the battles are lame. That gameplay thing is kind of important and thats the issue. Just because everyone can do it doesnt mean its not an issue.

It's not fun to play against people who shoot at me, but they still do. Just cuz some people say there are issues doesn't mean there really are issues.

This subject is obviously been and will still be debated about but when it comes down to it Bungie is going to be the one to decide if there's really an issue with it.

This, also during elite games.... because armor lock is a good way to block those plasma grenades, and stop people from running into you after you stick them!

Just because some people there arent issue doesnt mean there arent issues. The only real defense you hear is that everyone can do it which isnt much of a defense.

Just adapt to the situation then. If they use armor lock, then use the same ability to counter against it. Rather than waste your time complaining about it, develop strategies against it that will give you the upper hand. It seems that most people who complain about armor lock, usually don't have a buddy to back them up in a firefight when they do run into a player who locks up. This is easily solved by not playing by yourself. The game is much more fun when you play with a party of friends working as a unit.

On a side note, in a match of BTB Slayer, some guy had armor lock for his "tool of destruction (5 kills)." Never seen that before, but I thought it was hilarious.

 Doesn't matter what strategy you toss out, whiners are going to whine.

I pretty much only use armor lock.

....haters gonna hate...

I dunno, I enjoy armor lock, just sometimes it doesn't work like it SHOULD be working or has in the past, sometimes guys stand right next to me as I get out and they don't lose a shield, then again there's a handful of things that don't always work right in this game.

A good counter for Armor Lock is Active Camo (if you don't have armor lock yourself), they lock, you camo and move away. They unlock, and you aim for their head and kill them if not...just walk away and try and get them another way. It seems due to the run and gun feel of Halo MP, most players feel the need to frag the other guy asap. Then when you see some players crouching, camping, hiding behind corner etc you ask why they're playing that way when they should be running out into the fray like everyone else.

I just think it breaks up the momentum in the game. I've never seen every single person in the game use armor lock, but I'm curious what it would be like. It seems like it'd be a slow paced game with people just armor locking in front of each other.
I think armor lock is a cool idea. I just happen to think it's a little too powerful in the sense of how long you can keep it engaged.

Depending on the map and if I'm playing with one or two of my XBL buddies, we'll combo our AA's, usually 2 with Armor Lock and 1 with Camo (more along the lines of radar scrambling) or Hologram.

Still, I understand where armor lock seems OP though with the amount of grenade spam that happens during a match...armor lock is the only counter to that outside of a timely evade or drop shield (which isn't available on most game modes).

Shorten the duration but make the blast radius a hair larger.

Shortening it would make it less powerful and increasing the radius would keep people further away preventing a quick melee.

4000 cR -Complete ONI on Legendary without dying.

Really? Already? We just had this not too long ago. Also 5 multikills in one match might be tough. I know go into oddball or crazy kings. Looks like only 1750 cR will be easy.

It's the third time we've had that Complete Oni on Legendary without dying. I was thinking about coinciding my Legendary solo campaign with any daily challenges that came up but evidently that is not a good idea since we haven't seen any for missions after Nightfall.
Weekends in general always have shitty challenges.
I'm guessing people have more free time and are more likely to play on weekends, so Bungie doesn't have to use easy challenges to entice players to play like they do during the week.

I think it would be better if they just did a "beat 'insert level here' on legendary" challenge for 2000 points. Trying to beat a level on legendary without dying is just bad. If you search for people, once they die, they leave. This isnt fun at all, its a tough challenge, but not fun. If they had it where you could die, and just had to beat the level on legendary, you wouldnt see people leaving and you would have fun doing it.

you could either try and do it solo or do it with a guest account too.

...Godforbid the challenges take longer than a few minutes to accomplish and are challenging. They probably are trying to motivate players who haven't beaten the game on legendary to...beat it on legendary by putting in challenges like this. Since Bungie net keeps track of everything, statistically there's probably tons of players who haven't even beaten or attempted the campaign on heroic yet let alone legendary. My guess is, they're repeating challenges for those who don't play Reach like it's a 2nd job...so repeats in challenges make sense and let you talk shop with your buddies who weren't able to participate the last time it was a daily.
you could either try and do it solo or do it with a guest account too.
That mission solo is too hard to do alone for me. Using a 2nd controller is just too much of a hassle.

I havent beaten the game on legendary yet, only the oni mission co-op, since my single player legendary save was lost. I havent even tried it a 2nd time since. This type of challenge doesnt help me at all, since everyone will vote for oni mission only when trying to play with 3 randoms.

So youre going to repeatedly complain about the difficulty of getting multiple randoms to complete this challenge, while saying turning on a second controller is to much hassle, interesting.

Just don't bother with challenges you don't find enjoying to complete, and problem solved.

I pretty much do the ones that can be knocked out and in firefight, and sometimes some in MP for getting 30-77 kills etc. if I'm in the mood for Rumble Pitt and that's about it.

I don't even worry about challenges. I just like to go online and bust some skulls, maybe even find some people wanting to get a good clean match going. I wish Halo had some built in clan support though. I used to be a big socom player on ps2 and it was all about clan wars.

@7th, you've co-campaigned with CAG's before for daily challenges. Why not search your friend list and do it again? Otherwise, just let Kat do most of the work and just inch in and save at every check point.

Well i never play on the weekends cause of football.
Well i never play on the weekends cause of football.
At least until football season ends :)

I'm mixed on the legendary campaign without dying challenges (I hate any "without dying" challenge, achievement, etc). I do think they would be better as a weekly challenge, but since they are doable as a daily then that might not be the best idea in the world...

YES! Through some weird twist of fate, i was able to get 30+ kills, and 5 multikills challenges done in one match. Thanks to the three teammates who left the match right at the begining, which had me 1 vs 4, and i won the game too! :D

Man, the people who get all pissy when they don't get the sniper rifle on Hemorrhage need to grow the fuck up. If all you wanna do in this game is fire a sniper go join the goddamn military.
