Halo: Reach

Finally finished the campaign today.

Good ending. The Survive mission was unexpected, but pretty cool. Overall, great campaign, probably the best of the series. Hopefully 343 Industries can keep up Bungie's high quality work.
That's what I thought, but we discussed it earlier and people had me convinced your Rank was more than cosmetic.
It does seem I'm always playing with people around the same rank as me.

And I'm not very good and my rank is inflated from daily challenges and Gruntpocalpse so I'd think most people at Captain grade 3 and a little above would be above me on any true skill rankings etc.

I could have sworn Trueskill is in play in this game as well, the visual military rank is just cosmetic.

I have decent KDR and a shitty WLR.
It clearly says play a game in Halo: Reach Matchmaking

Yeah I liked the story for the most part, although I really hated how
they built up Noble 6 as some "chosen one" bulls**t in the last 2-3 or so levels. I liked it up to that part because I was just a soldier fighting in a war, one of the millions of casualties. Then the moment Carter says "That AI chose you, 6." is when I went like FFFFUUUUUUUUU.
There are hidden ranks which it uses to match people up. Matchmaking has nothing to do with your overall military rank.
while in MM for the "play 20 games in MM" daily the other day, 6 of us stayed for about 15 matches with 2 swapping in and out from PUGs. Aside from the 2 that were in an XBLP, they swapped us in and out of red or blue teams based on our well or poorly out team did. I ended up playing against the 2 in the party more often and while I was an lt. 3 most of them were WO and lower. Not sure how it works but it's doing something.

rank also has a cR multiplyer for certain game modes like Forge and other things (but most of you already know that).

they were trying to make you the player feel special and that perhaps you being there was more than just coincidence. the previous halo games you were playing a specific character with a name and prewritten history, not so personal.

Nice easy set of daily challenges today for sure.

The 40 kill in MP one went quicker than usual for me. That's usually 3 or 4 Rumble pit matches for me.

But I ended up going 25-15 and winning the first one (Elite Slayer on The Cage--first Elite Slayer Match I've won) and then 23-23 and finishing 2nd in Slayer on Asylum and knocked it out in less than 2 matches.

Got up to Major with the daily challenges and one Score Attack game.

I got all the challenges except the bungie.net one. It still wont unlock for me and i have no idea why. I obviously have it linked because i use the halo 3 nameplate. Ive played rumble pit, score attack, multiteam, campaign, swat.... yet it wont unlock.

Cap looks like it will be lifted by tomorrow. It probably should be lifted by now, but i dont see them lifting it till they change the daily challenges.

Very odd.

I started doing Gruntpocalypse for that challenge, like othes that Bungie.net challenge unlocked as soon as the match was found.

I feel ya.
My major gripe with the campaign was that much of the middle and end was just brief talking between Noble Team. Never did they say anything meaningful, even after each member died. Maybe I was expecting too much story behind a Halo game. :whistle2:k

they're spartans, there's a time for grief and it's not on the battlefield.

How is the cap not lifted yet? Everyday its moved up about 3 times as much as we needed it to move from yesterday to today. Now all of a sudden it doesnt move at all? I was looking forward to buying some new armor today. The progress bar is a lie!

Well the daily challenges are really dull today. 10 kills for 100 cR, 10 assists for 200 cr. Are they serious? Uploading a clip to file share is an easy and quick 777 cR. Firefight one can be tough, i remember like 2 days ago we had this same challenge. I got into a rockets game of firefight, and i was the only one to end the game with more than 20,000 points.

You can get 20k on Firefight solo. It's tight, but it can be done. I did it solo the other day. Finished my first match with something like 19,950 points, but made it on my second try. FWIW, I did it on Glacier.

most of the internet is a lie. have you ever seen a rainfall gauge? It's wider at the top. If..."if" the thermometer is the truth it could be wider at the top meaning it takes more dailies for it to reach the goal than what it started off with at the bottom. That said, it's a good thing not to believe everything that big brother tells you.

as for dull challenges...seriously. for all the matches where you've dominated another player or team those players are having a hard time getting 10 kills in a MM game. Today's challenges are easy because it helps get the daily challenge meter to it's goal faster...and the bonus cR is less because yesterday's was a lot more than usual for very little effort.

Look at the big picture not just your reflection.

the thermometer isn't dynamic, so it has to be updated manually. the sad thing is bungie is probably causing more american kids to fail in school since all they can think about is what helmet they'll be wearing when the rank cap is lifted.

That was established the first day it was posted.

I don't know what time they make the changes to the image but it was different from the day before yesterday and yesterday.

you figure they update it when they update the website or the dailies for the day or when the intern gets the new jpg to upload. *shrugs* in the end...it'll happen when bungie lets it happen.

let me guess tomorrow's challenges
200 cR- start game
100 cR- play a game
700 cR- die once in a game
UNLOCK THE fuckING RANKS ALREADY

hmmm, seems they have more bionic arm chest unlocks...pricey addition. I'd rather buy almost 2 complete helmets vs one new bionic arm chest.

I havent seen any other brigadiers yet.... but i am seeing a lot of EVA w/skull helmets. Which i also bought, and use with the gold visor color. Had about 650,000 and spent almost all of it on helmet, shoulder pads, visor color, and that wrist strap with ammo on it. Stuff really adds up quick.

I just bought the para chest because I like suspenders. not really, just wanted something different and I prefer a clean spartan look.

ppl have been complaining (which makes me laugh to no end) that emile's skull isn't coming up during the game play vids. is this true?

That makes two of us. I guess we are 1337

Well, before the cap was lifted, I would play offline so I can see myself with that helmet. I would use a hologram and stare at myself. Apparently, the skull disappears if you are too far away from the person (i.e. me standing a few meters from my hologram).

If you go into Big Team you will see some. I played three games earlier and seen 4 or 5 brigadiers. Highest I have seen is Brigadier Grade 2.

Teabagging can be annoying, especially when someone does it after they melee you from behind, or kill you in any other scrub way. I dont usually teabag, but i do sometimes when someone tries to kill me from behind, or another cheap way. Its a way for me to say LOLs you thought you were going to get an easy kill, but you got owned.

I don't see how teabagging is annoying, who cares? I do it every now and then for no reason at all just to get people mad and hear their rage.

Sometimes I even run over people who recently died that weren't killed by me and teabag.

Hmmm, can anyone figure this out? I was playing swat, killed the whole team with an overkill, but didnt get the extermination medal. I double checked and didnt kill any of them twice, it was 1 kill per member.

Hmm, it took me a while to get the last guy. Someone could have spawned before i got him. All i know is i killed all four guys and got a overkill. Oh well.

Not much wrong with teabagging. Its not as common as people try to act like it is, and it can be funny sometimes. I've been teabagged and it just makes the revenge sweeter.

Definitely some wacky low credit challenges today. Did all but the firefight one.

Just played two games of rumble pit--Slayer and Slayer Pro. Had 24 kills and 20 kills. That's 4 straight 20+ kill RP slayer games for me--crazy as I'm not sure I had 4 total before the last 2 nights! Guess not playing any MP for a week plus did me some good.
I think this is the 3rd time they have had the challenge killing enemies while jetpacking on Exodus.
consider some of the challenges like this to be conditioning for players who are either bad at jetpacking, jetpack killing, feathering, or just not playing campaign. The 1st grenade launcher challenge helped learn how to use it without spazing out, now I always pick it up when I see it.

...and you figure, killing enemies in any game mode of reach is a bit of a repeat. ;)
