It is pretty stupid though to play Fistfight and have a bunch of people pick up Fuel Rods.

actually...it's not. in Fistfight you moved quicker and did more damage than any of the other FFA modes, so Fistfight, then going to pick up a power wpn was smart. What is stupid is you start with grenades but can't pick up anymore after you're spent.

I won't miss it and I'm totally fine with not being able to pick up wpns, but there's less reason to vote on fistfight now and nadefight unless it's an Assist challenge.

What I mean is if I play Fistfight I want to use the Hammer so the mode sucks if I'm trying to hammer while everyone else uses Fuel Rods/Rockets.

totally agree and understandable...aside from the hammer and sword medals, a lot of players aren't too keen on using them because it doesn't generate addition cR due to FF not having a CQC commendation.

I hope at some point in the near future they do something about Unearthed, there's so much unused, wasted, open space but only 1 rocket hog. It's a perfect map for a ghost drop or even a banshee to shoot at.
 
Loving the Classic Playlist. That is how this game was meant to be. :D

Exactly, I only wanted to play like 1 game, but good god I got sucked into it because it was so addicting to play the old style of Halo.
 
I have not played in a long time but did the Haunted helmet ever get unlocked? I remember reading that it was past the level cap at the time and Bungie was holding off to raise the level cap.
 
I saw a bunch of forerunners last night, I don't recall seeing anyone posting about the haunted helm. doing the math before with the cap it would have taken someone about 1 year of capping everyday...doubling that cap, well 6 months. I'm sure someone's gonna get it in the next month or so, plus when it happens it'll be big videogame news and tons of viral videos of ppl t-bagging that player.

I officially enjoy skee ball more than grifball now. A lot more fun plus you can get vehicle commendation kills by splattering fools.
 
I am really digging the classic playlist a lot. The lockout and beaver creek remakes are very good and a lot of fun. I never got to play hang em high or any of the Halo 1 MP maps and I like em a lot.
 
Just played some Hockey in the Action Sack...all I could think of was the Benny Hill theme music while everyone was running around trying to assassinate each other.
 
i played some hockey. the other team scored 3 times via own goals.

the ball went behind me when i was clearing behind it hitting it FORWARD, yet it decided to go straight backwards
 
Sorry for the probably dumb question, but are the map packs integrated in the regular playlists like in Duty or do you always have to choose the map pack playlists?

Both, everybody playing in that lobby have to the dlc and it will load on a normal playlist

you run into less crappy hosts if you que up with "good connection" in your preferences. otherwise even with a crappy host if you know they have host, swing a second earlier than you normally would and you'll get some hits in.
 
My buddy told me he has heard something about a new map pack coming out (this was before the 7 old school Halo maps were announced). Is that true? If so, do we know anything about it?

i looked and found nothing, for 343 to come out with yet another map pack so soon after the defiant one would be...too soon tbh. the 7 reskinned halo 1 maps will probably be the only official map packs until they next official map pack release. til then, a bunch of new community maps have been released.

on a side note: I don't understand why FF randoms feel the need to fly over to you while you're in the warthog, as you are killing covi then destory it...this only triggers me following you for the rest of the duration with the FRG/concus_rifle to see how many times I can push you into the enemy. (13 times btw)

I might be. It's win by 20, right? I'm sure Bungie employees are better than some of the chumps we played last night, but me, my friend, and two guys he knows were dominating team slayer for a little bit.

Now is there going to be a set playlist for this or is getting in the same game as bungie just going to be random?
 
The Bungie Day playlist should be renamed the Armor Lock playlist. I'm convinced Bungies goal with Reach was to make so everyone would be happy they were done with Halo. Well it worked with me.
 
well...I am pleased I got the cR jackpot twice in the past 2 days. 30,000 cR is a very very nice number to see after a match.
 
I watched Bungies stream last night and they hardcore camped while down 21 kills. They really didnt want to give out steaks I guess.
 
or they were running out...possible other ppl were using similiar tactics, while camping maybe considered cheap or noobish. It is a viable and effective tactic. I personally don't like it, but if I have a shotgun or energy sword, you can expect that I'll be camping the yellow lift in sword base for a few extra kills if my team is losing.

Well when you are down 20 kills its too late to camp. The other team wasnt going to blow their chance at steaks and both teams waited it out for at least the final 4 minutes. Pretty funny.

So I've had Halo 3 on my shelf since 08, ODST since 09, and Reach since 10 and I finally got around to playing them, did a legendary marathon of all 3 and I've got to say the single player campaign is second only to Mass Effect.

Cool. Wait, I want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. Does that mean we can't counter sword lunges with our melee anymore?
 
The melees are still fucked, right?

If you melee someone with 1% shields left, it will still just take that 1% away and not kill him?

It'll be going back to the system from all the previous Halos where melee damage bleeds through into the health. This quote sums it up...

Example: Say the player has 5 health points and 10 shields points. If you hit him with 25 points of damage, he dies.
This isn't clear but I don't think the change is being rolled into MM right away, only the beta playlists.

I understand wanting to test out some of the bloom adjustment settings before rolling it into every playlist, but I think they should roll out the melee, armor lock, & active cammo changes should be made right away.
 
I think the update is awesome and gives Halo more balance again. Halo 1 while not perfectly balanced was the most fun for me, and I'd like to see them go back to the older Halo games with balances.

I had a lot of fun with Reach, but Armor Lock was way over powered and sword blocking with another weapon was kinda lame. It's nice you actually stick people again for sure and be able to melee people and actually kill them.

Look forward to the update.
