Hard Reset - New PC Exclusive FPS

CAG Veteran
I found out yesterday that there is a new FPS coming exclusively to the PC, Hard Reset. It's being developed by a new studio Flying Wild Hog. It's based essentially on earth where humanity has all been wiped out by machines. You take role of Major Fletcher, a vetern soldier, and defend humanities last remaining city.

I find this extremely interesting as the number of companies who publish exclusives, let alone PC exclusives are rare. That being said the initial screenshots look good and the trailer looks cool. There really isn't much else I could on on the game other than a trailer and a few screenshots.

Having heard all this what do you guys think? The last big hit FPS to hit PC was probably Bad Company 2 and the last exclusive was counter strike and that is almost 12 years old. Personally I'm thrilled that there is a company developing for the PC platform exclusively or at least primarily like with The Witcher and CD Projekt. I've always been an avid PC gamer and never picked up on the consolitius that the modern generation seems to have done.

Simple solution. Don't support those titles.

Because people will buy it. If the port is bad, don't buy it. Simple as that.

I am all for PC games unless the port is terrible enough.

You don't always know it's going to be a shady port when you buy it *playing devils advocate*. Games like Crysis II and Dungeon Siege III were supposed to be PC developed titles so many people preordered them. To find out after release that they were just console ports for the most part. Granted Crysis II has been updated some.

edit : Not everyone likes to wait and find out the end result of a game nor do they want to wait a years or more for it to hit the bargin bin. In all honesty everyone in the PC gaming world could refuse to buy a title and it would make very little difference to the publishers because PC gaming makes up a fairly small portion of their sales.

Well I understand people do preorder games, and I can see their reasoning for doing so. It's not hard in this day in age to wait for release day and see if people have problems with the game. No one offers preorder deals for PC games nowadays. It's not waiting days or months (hell I knew the GTA IV port was not good day 1), it's just wait for the release week and look on the internet to see if it's a good port. Simple as that. Unless you need the special collectors edition of a game or there is some bonus to preorder that you really want.

OP is useless without a the name/studio of the game he's talking about. Where's Captain Picard facepalming when you need him?

"Hey guys there's a new game coming out for the PC by a studio you've never heard about. Sweet, right?"

There are magazines and websites devoted to reviewing PC games. If you're not patient enough to wait for a review, then you deserve every woe the game brings you.

Pre-ordering is disgusting, IMO. Paying someone for nothing is probably the in thing to do but makes very little sense. When it fails those that were a part of it can eat a big one.

Your edited comment makes very little sense. Did you mean console publishers?

There are over 743,719 (last poll Dec 2010) retail PC gaming publishers/game makers still up and running and cranking out.

There are over 94 million freeware/f2p PC games available to the public using modern tech (non-flash based/non browser based with Windows XP and up supported).

PC game making will be quite all right.

This begging developers for ports and looking for the elusive exclusives is buzz word jonesing for fanboy bait. It DOES nothing for the actual consumer. These is no BENEFIT for them.

You're worried about big hits for the PC platform...while the rest just want to play and have some fun.

It's a sad day indeed, when I'm the one pointing the direction to the retail games. LOL

Lol, this is the kind of nonsense topic I'd expect on N4G. We don't require you leave your brain at the door here.
