I am about to read the sixth Harry Potter book, and I was surfing the net (for videogame stuff) and there was a huge spoiler that came out of nowhere.

I wish I could stab people through the internet.
Do those people get off on spoiling stuff? Does it give them a hard on?
Somebody told me the spoiler when it first leaked, and I didn't even know what it was a spoiler to.

I was spoiled before I got the book and all I said was "Oh well, I was bound to learn it anyway"

For some reason spoilers just dont bother me :?

You have to remember, there are those people whose lives are so sad and pathetic that they try to bring other people down to their shitty level.
I still haven't heard or read any spoilers.
Well don't look 3 posts up.

PKRipp3r is an asshole.

I unintentionally spoiled the end of the book for my wife last night. She had just finished reading a pivotal chapter and asked what I thought of a prominent character relationship. I was watching TV at the time, so my half-hearted response was "I think the whole thing seemed a little rushed, but I guess it had to be that way because Rowling had to allow ample time to--" and then I dropped the bomb. I tried to play it off like I was joking, but it was no use. She's was a bit less pissed off at me than I'd've figured, though.

He was serious? BWAHAHAHAHA OH NOES!

 That's what you retards get for reading crap like Harry Potter. That is, unless you actually ARE retarded or you're in middle school or something...then carry on.

*now, THAT, Brak, IS a troll comment! ;)

EDIT: Don't get kinks in your dinks, I'm only kidding...

I just wanted to drop back in and compliment 1modernboy for his totally appropriate use of the most underutilized contraction, I'd've. :applause: Bravo sir.

(Pulls panties into a bunch) Bastard :bomb:

Rule I go by to avoid spoilers is break all contacts related to it after something comes out. Like Zelda games, I never look up any kind of info at all on Zelda or video games in general just prior to and shortly after it's release til I play through the new game. I mean let's face facts, some people on the internet suck so your looking up any info even semi-related to the book (like the video-game) was a mistake to begin with especially after it has been on shelves for a few weeks now. Unless you were just looking at video games in general, then there's a true asshole about.

Then again spoilers have never really bothered me that much. I am always still interested in the way in an important event occurs.

Edit: Also I kind of agree with WSB, I honestly tried to read through Harry Potter books but I just can't do it. Of course, I'm a big Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia fan, but I read most of those when I was in the 10th grade at the latest.

Thank you, thank you. Please hold your applause. :D

And for my next trick, I will employ adverbs… deliberately. ;)

Age doesnt matter. I run a comic shop, and i can back that uo %100. And before anyone goes on a tirade about overweight, smelly, ugly people (which of course exist solely to ruin my day) being our bread and butter, its actually well-to-do buisness men and family guys (Peter?).

Also, anyone who thinks stuff not aimed directly at thier age group is "kiddy", go read Calvin and Hobbes. If that's not your cup of tea, please wipe yourself from the face of the Earth. kthanxbye

I'm not saying I do everything based on age group, hell I read plenty of comics and watch alot of anime (though most of it is focused at or near my age group). I also play video games aimed at kids and I even enjoyed watching the Harry Potter movies. I just couldn't sit down and the read 600-800 pages in all the books. I read the first one and most of the second but after awhile it took it's toll and I went and reread the first 2 A Song of Fire and Ice books. It's just the tastes I have now I guess. I'm going to try and reread Chronicles of Narnia before the movie hits this winter and I may not get through that even though I loved it as when I was younger. So in the end I suppose I am a bit of a hypocrite for saying Harry Potter is too "kiddie", maybe it's just that I don't find the books themselves that appealing that I can stick with them (I did find them to be a bit redunant/boring compared to other magic/fantasy series I've read). Either way I should probably stick to the philosophy I have with video games, people will like whatever they enjoy playing, or in this case reading.

I hate stupid fuçks that give spoilers for no apparent reasons.
Initiate troll comment...

Books suck.
I know I'm gonna get killed cuz I'm on a gaming site but when I really get into a book, I usually choose the book over a videogame.

I had the 6th book ruined for me (cuz of CAG, how nice is that?) before I had a chance to read it, took the excitement and shock out of the ending. I didn't really care though; I read Harry Potter but it's far from being my favorite series.

They are the people who run around in Counter-Strike with the biggest guns they can get, then get totally owned by the newbies.

I can totally understand your anger. I had an office worker tell me who died in Order of the Pheonix before I finished it. I was extremely mad, but it was an accident.

It was spoiled for me in an IRC channel, those bastards...

I hate the internet.

That's why I avoided it for almost a week until I finished.

Anyone who says they "can't get into the books" need to read all the way through #3 first. I quit after #2 (didn't like it) but friends eventually convinced me to go back and try #3. LOVED it.

The first book is really just to establish the characters and present the setting, and it begins the story.

With each book the plot gets deeper and darker.

I actually like the Harry Potter series better than the Hitckhikers Guide to the Galaxy series.

Seriously. How many other authors would you give 3 separate chances to wow you, before you assigned them to the circular file?

Great authors / fiction books shouldn't need more then 50 pages to get you interested.

Those books sold so much for a reason.

It wasn't a big name, the author wasn't famous, all it had was good writing and an awesome story.

And now Harry Potter is the most popular book in America.

Stop being a cock, I know you didn't read the books. You are just bashing them to sound cool. I suppose you are going to bash Pokemon next, right?

Ya know, I think a new avatar is in order for you... perhaps a Space Ghost themed one.

Fortunately I was on vacation and without a computer for the few days before the book was released, and read it before I got back, so nothing was spoiled.

spoilers dont bother me that much, at least this one didn't, damn ytmnd people, they had the spoiler in the title of their ytmnd, at least some pople named their's potter spoiler or something so i knew not to click on it. they vene have a t-shirt on t-shirthell.com with the spoiler all over it.

LoL, at last Xmas my sister had some around, so I read 20 pages, total crap.

Saw half of one of the movies too, also crap.

Same goes for DaVinci Code.

I think the last popular book I liked was "The Beach" - now that ruled!

Edit: Just to show I'm not "being cool", I think Spongebob is an entertaining show. Thing I have with Hairy Pothead - it's been done better, even in pop fiction - I mean pick up some Ursula LeGuin people!

dear god...you think spongebob is entertaining...
anyway, ursula k leguin is good, but I find her writing kinda slow,
its just peoples tastes

yeah I had it spoiled for me as well from looking at someones sig, people go out of their way to be jerks sometimes. Have you seen the video of the guy doing a drive by spoiling at a bookstore the night the book was released?

spongebob > potter

b, please

I had it spoiled for me when I went to a T-Shirt website of all places... I didn't realize how a certain character died (who killed them) until I clicked that link on the first page... The surprising thing is that now I want to read it more than ever because I'm dying to know how that certain situation came about.

The exact same thing happened with Alias, I saw just the end of season 4, after watching bits and pieces back when season 1 and 2 were on and I just had to know how it got to that point so I started watching all the seasons.

So, sometimes spoilers suck, but other times it actually gets me more interested.
