Today I called CS and asked about the rebate----Still have not heard a word.
The CSA knew right away what I was talking about......"Oh the Paper Mario voucher, we are not honoring this for the $19.99 price paid- you had to buy the game for $50 to get this GV"
I asked him where it states this on the coupon, and he stated that its included under" it can't be combined w/ any other offer or discount", he said the price I paid was a discount or store offer.
I explained (was firm but not an ass) that if that were the case, why did I get the Splinter Cell CT voucher w/in 2 weeks and only paid $29.99 for the game, when the price went back up during the promotion, and is still $49.99 everywhere? This was the same situation as the Paper Mario deal. I bought the game for a sale price and should get the voucher on top of it, otherwise why run both of these promotions at the same time? I further explained the Harry Potter deal they had a year and 1/2 ago, I believe I paid ($9.99 and got $10 back).
I stated that if they were to exclude this they needed to put it in writing and or not allow the price to be dropped while they had the vouchers out. I stated that all ebgames stores have the same sales and prices and that they control the pricing through the computer. I even stated that the rep in EB mentioned that he thought a voucher was available for it at the time I purchased it. He wasnt pushing it or even acted like he knew the amt for it, needless to say, I got the flyer and mailed it out.
He stated he couldnt do anything for me but could elevate it to the supervisor. I told the supervisor the same thing as above and he took my name, number and address (probably to blackball me!) and stated that someone will call me back in a day or two. I asked if this was really going to happen and he stated that it would. He told me that he didnt " have the authority to do anything"
My point is, don't have overlapping promotions if you arent going to honor them, and or make sure you have this explained in writing what can and cannot be done. Like some of you have stated, it's like they run these deals to get you in the store and buy the merchandise, expecting a rebate, and then they wont honor it or admit that they screwed up...............its not the consumers fault, then they want to call us bad customers as we are "taking advantage of the system " that "they" created. It's bad business.....If I screw up, I will admit it and take care of the situation, this is what they should do.
Why have they done this on so many occasions??--- run a voucher on a game, and during the promotion, they drop the price to some really reduced amount--- sometimes for only a week, and then jack the price back up to the prevailing rate?? It's like they are targeting people, trying to track deal seekers? They have been honored these in the past w/ some people and now they arent.
It's sad but true, but "The Squeeky Wheel Gets the Grease"....if this is not going to work I will file a complaint w/ the BBB.
