Has Quizno's gone down hill?

Quiznos used to be so good but expensive. Now it's kinda shitty.

Subway is alright, but I get tired of it fast. Plus they skimp like mad here.

Jimmy Johns is good shit. Italian Night Club all day.

Quiznos definitely nosedived in quality. You basically started paying for bread, one slice of meat, and a lot of lettuce. They also got rid of the Traditional, or at least the one I went to did, and that was the severing I needed.

In my hometown, there was a small strip mall with five shops. In high school, the one on the far right was a Quiznos, but it shut down after a few years. In a brilliant move, a few years later, a Quiznos opened up on the far left side, and then shut down earlier this year. So they had wizards looking for retail space.

I don't know what sort of brainwashing you Jimmy Johns people are under though. Worst sandwich I've ever had, but I can't find anything good at all these days so maybe everyone is equally horrible.

2 - Horrible ads. Yeah Subway's Any Any Any* ads are annoying all on their own but seriously Quiznos has them beat by a mile:

IMO, the cat one is not even the worst one:

I've never tried Quiznos before, and I'm pretty sure that commercial is why. Having that stuck in your head is absolute torture.
You've never seen it? They probably figured, "Hey it's got kittens, we can't lose.".
I don't watch TV; only the occasional show online.

And I love cats. That commercial just sucks horribly. The Spongmonkey ad that was posted was so messed up it was kind of amusing though.

I'll vouch for you Strell, Jimmy John's kinda sucks.

My local subway's are still run by Americans and almost all of them are 110% friendly. Their $5 subs are still good and they NEVER run out of ingredients.

There were all these signs proclaiming how wonderful their dressing was for the lettuce, but it was so bland. The lettuce itself had more flavor. Watery, no-flavor flavor. "That dog won't hunt," I muttered.

Then I realized what brilliant marketing this was - take your obvious crapshittery and start saying that you're famous for it. fuck it's so simple.

Quizno's always sucked. Too much sauces, so much bread, so little meat and flavor. The crap would sit in my stomach for days. Hated it, always have.

I could eat those every day and not get tired of them.

Oh yeah, and Quizznos definitley sucks now.

There's like Five Quiznos here and they are ok, but they're overpriced for what they are.

To the people in California, Who enjoys Togos? Out of all the Sandwich chains, I think Togos is the best. They have some great Pastrami.

I think the reason why there's a lot of them around college campuses and they're open late is for drunk college students who would never know the difference between good and bad food at 2am.

I think I only ever ate ONE time at a Quizno's here. The sandwiches were horrible. I never went back. Yet they're still in business in the same location there. Papa John's Pizza on the other hand is completely gone from my area. Closest one is about a 30-45 minute drive from here now. The only times I ever had their pizza it was decent.

Love their pastrami, best one out of all the sub chains around here.

Damn right. Their meatball is pretty damn good too. I do find it weird how their 240+ locations only three are outside the state of California.

I totally agree about Jimmy Johns. I ate there once and haven't been back since. The sandwich I got had little meat and the bread wasn't that good either. Not to mention the location I went to had their in-store music way too loud to the point where I had to shout my order to the girl at the counter. Combine all that together for my first impression pretty much left me never wanting to go back.

I'm not a fan of Togos. I don't think their sandwiches taste very good. I also don't like their ordering process either. Now that's a chain that's had noticeable reductions, at least from what I've noticed. The only ones I see any more are partnered with Baskin-Robbins.

For people complaining about various Subway/Quiznos service, I can kind of relate. The Subway nearest to me is owned by an Indian man/his family. They make sure they get every nickle and dime out of you that they can. For instance, the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki doesn't come with cheese on it standard. I'm not sure of another sandwich on the Subway menu that doesn't come with cheese but maybe I haven't looked close enough. Anyway, every Subway I've ever been too across the country doesn't care. They ask what kind of cheese you want without probably realizing its not part of the ingredients for the sandwich. Or maybe they know and don't care. They never charge extra for it. But the Subway closest to me makes sure to charge you extra for that cheese. Its within their rights, certainly. But because no other Subway I've experienced charges extra for it on that sandwich, and because I doubt the four pieces of cheese on a footlong is breaking their profit margin, I don't go there anymore. Instead I go to the Quiznos across the street, owned by a middle eastern guy. Never had any hassles about anything over there. So I don't think the ethnicity of the owners has anything to do with anything. Foreigners, white folk, whatever - they can be good or bad. Depends on the individual running the place.

eh, I'm glad they are closing down. They were too expensive. Just like Larry's Giant Subs in my city. The food is great and their sandwiches are tasty, but I'd rather go to subway if some douches are going to charge 14-15 bucks for a 12" sandwich, chips and a drink...

Well, this one time I gave a BJer to some man in the quiznos bathroom for cream of broccoli soup. I found out he tasted better.
Better? :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:

should of went with the creamed corn.

Quizno's ruined my appetite when they had those weird dancing squirrels yelling at me in there commercials.

I love a good, hot, toasty sandwhich. Quiznos used to do it for me. Once subway started toasting their sandwhiches (which arent toasty enough) and then had a steak and cheese, and even a steak egg and cheese at some locations, it was all over.

Why no love for Schlotzsky's? Used to have really nice, big sandwhiches. Would regularly eat there in Anchorage. Now, the closet one is over 90 minutes away.

I hated their bread. I love sourdough, but theirs has the texture of eating a sponge.

That's pretty much it, actually. At the end of the day, it all comes off the back of a Sysco truck.

The battle for mediocrity never ends.

I guess living in the Philly/NJ area, I can honestly say we have some of the best sandwiches.. so alot of these chain places are pretty gross.
Jimmy Jons and Subway are both.. ok.. we have a place thats rgeional "Wawa" and that USED to be delicious, now it's just like everything else.

:(

We used to go to this pimp ass deli here that had the best sandwiches for lunch. He'd have two different kinds each day until he ran out. Had the best BBQ pork sandwich ever. And he'd have specials, like these stacked ass reubens that I'd kill for now. Back in the day, it was $3.50 for a sammich, $1 for a drink, and $6 to see a matinee movie. That was something to do on Saturdays, do all of that for under $10.

Now the sandwiches are $4.75, drink is $1.50, and AMC owns all the theaters here now, so it's $10 anytime from Friday to Sunday. Needless to say, I still get the sandwiches when I'm near there, but I sure as shit don't go to the movies.

Note to self: go to NJ and let lilboo show me a good $5 footlong. And then go out for a sandwich.

His name is Roger and he actually charges $6. Worth it, though. I hope you don't enjoy walking.

Due to this thread I've been inquiring to friends and co-workers about their thoughts on Quiznos and it seems unanimous, Quiznos is the suck.

Yup, Quiznos has gone downhill. Chicken Carbonara used to be the bomb, but even that sandwich just tastes cheaper. I went last year and got this shredded buffalo chicken sandwich and it was straight inedible. The company as a whole is in trouble, something like 60% of the franchises that open never turn a profit before closing, and they have some of the highest franchising fees in the industry. I'm surprised the $5 footlong didn't kill them off completely.

Schlotzskys is great, love their rye bread. Jimmy Johns, Penn Station and Blimpie all suck. Otherwise, find something local.

Yeah, Wawa used to be great, now they are just ok, I haven't gotten one from there in a while though. Wawa is still god tier for everything else.

It's a shame they can't compete pricewise as they were leaps and bounds better than the revolting crap that Subway serves up.

I tried Quiznos once and choked on that salad-dressing soaked, toasted bread product they dare call a sandwich. :twoguns:

Wawa definitely used to be a ton better, but I still go there for sandwiches and everything else.

I don't know, the Quizno's by me is good. It is pricey so I try and use coupons when I go, but the subs are way better than Subway. I don't feel like they skimp on anything like Subway does either. Maybe it's because my closest one is quite new so they still do everything well.

I usually go their for their salads which are cheap and filling despite not having too many calories. They're one of my favorite chains just for that reason.

I ate at a Quiznos once in the past couple years. I remember standing in line and paying for my order, but the sandwich itself is a total blank. Completely unmemorable. Like banner ads, I no longer see Quiznos restaurants -- I just edit them out.

In Canada we have Mr. Sub, which is astoundingly average. Ate there once, and no desire or reason to go back.

Best sandwich shop I ever at at was a little hole in the wall next to an industrial park in Kearney Mesa, across the street from the giant supermarket next to the 805.

Their sandwiches were godly. Their Muffaletta was the most amazing sandwich I ever tasted.

I think they lasted 9 months, thanks to their awkward location.

Absolutely. The Gobblers are delicious, imo, lol. And it's nice to have a hoagie at 1am just because.
