Has there ever been a lamer summer song than Lean Back

when i first heard the song i thought it was a commercial and he was saying rockawear like jayz's clothing line. might as well be cause they all need to be beaten with a bat for no fucking no talent, a corny ass song and gettin paid millions. yea im a hata. hata of uneducated scumbags gettin paid when i worked hard as hell in school to make $

Just heard this song for the first time, and yeah, I really don't like it. Em's verse is good, but EVERY verse of Em's is good (IMO) so it doesn't really say much for me.
seriously guys, I can never have any disrespect for Fat Joe. he's part of a east coast based hip hop crew called DITC (Diggin in the Crates) which have many classic joints. The Late Big L was a part of that group, consisting of a total of 8 members.

Fat Joe follows a formula to sell records, make some crappy ass song as his single for a good album (such as What's love got to do wit it got to do wit it wit it). It works for a lot of good mainstream rap artists to sell platinum without making a crappy album.

also Fat Joe introduced the world to Big Pun, who despite his short career was one of the best emcees of the time.
What are u talking about? If anything without Pun, Fat Joe would have never had a career. He introduced Joe and the whole TS to the world, and put them on his CD's and singles. No one really paid attention to Joe until after Pun passed on.

Secondly to everyone acting like Eminem is the savor of Hip Hop... please listen to his new single "Just Lose It"... it makes "Lean Back" sound like a classical opus in comparison.

Rap and RnB is really starting to show signs of jumping the shark I think
I remember when bands use to put actual effort into songs and vids. I remember when R and B groups had actual bands that played instruments (Earth, Wind and Fire anyone?). That's why I love R and B from the 70's more than any other time. The music had so much more feeling. Now rappers sample those same songs to DEATH. Other than perhaps De La Soul, Outkast, Nappy Roots, and The Roots most rap groups today are just plain lazy. They throw together just any old BS and think it will sell. That is why I am very selective about what little rap I still listen too. Most just don't deserve the public's money. People will wise up eventually and stop buying this garbage and demand a better product.
Don't forget Blackstar :)

There is also difference in hip hop tho...Artisits like Mos Def and Talib Kweli are lyrical hip hop artists.Their Rhymes actually have a deep thought.so its worth hearing em out. Just that in this day in age....party tracks just have to have a good beat and its hit..how many times did you hear Fat Joe say the hook for that song or LL Cool J(sorry LL) but headsprung is also getting to me also...I dunno about you guys but when i heard that song all i heard was "Heeeeaaddsrpung" norap at all.....

off topic i know but.........

can anyone tell me what happened to murdock from ateam
is he dead? or just old and out of the public eye

After listening to a lot of radio all summer, I have to agree that Lean Back is lame, but that Slow Motion song is worse. (God, I hate that song.)

I loved "Quality" but "The Beautiful Struggle" is simply not that great an album. "I'll Try" is a poor mans "Get By" and about half the album sounds awkward with kweli talking about stuff that just doesn't fit and being off beat or just plain sounding like an internet backpacker flow wise. I think perhaps all the praise went to his head and he tried to make an album that was fairly deep but could still appeal to the masses. Outside of "Broken Glass" and the title track I really don't see any songs that I'll care to hear again a month from now ("Around My Way" has a great beat and hook but the verses are kinda weak and sing songy"... same for "Black Girl").

Let's hope Nas and Mos Def can salvage what has been a pretty sub par year for Hip Hop.

I agree
Second'd
No one seems to have addressed the real problem with this song, or the current state of Pop-Rap (as I like to call it). Lil' John has shaq-fued up sooooo many songs this summer with the same beat it's rediculous. The Usher song "Yeah" was pretty decent but soon after that EVERY Pop-Rap song had that same shaq-fuin beat! Jesus, talk about recycling! To make things worse, for some reason Lil' John thinks he can take crappy songs like lean back and make it better. This guy needs to crawl back into that dirty south hole he came from.

[random thoughts]
As far as Hip Hop/Rap is concerned, it's gone WAY downhill. It's image is so diluted with Bling Bling that it's impossible to even respect the art anymore. I'd say the decline began when Pac and Biggie died. They earned their way to the top, not just with a good beat but meaningful lyrics. Rap Artists (except Eminem) who came up after Pac and Biggie died are trying to fill shoes they have no place filling.

One more thing, Mase sucks hairy hemaphrodite ass. He needs to take is "lazy flow" back to church and stay there.
[/random thoughts]
Also Agree'd except for the thing on Mase. To me Mase isn't bad. he doesn't act like all of these up and coming stars that think that they deserve the whole world handed to them on a silver bling bling platter.
Well, a few years ago there was a worse summer song. I think it was called Summer Girls by girly-man boy band LFO. They suck, the song sucked, and I'm glad I don't see anymore releases from them.
The first time I heard that song I thought it was a parody or something that a DJ made. I couldn't believe it was an actual song. Eminem even made fun of it in "Marshall Mathers".

Yeah, that was just posted on this thread I think. Not sure.

whats pacs new album gonna be called? and its afeni shakur. did anyone actually buy 2pac live?

lloyd banks look like curious george and 50 cent look like monkey no wonder they kall em gorilla (guerilla?)unit

y couldnt g-unit get on the bus? cuz they didnt have 50 cent

4got who i heard those from anyways, LL's headsprung is hella annoying and who actually thinks hes the greatest of all times? i aint got nothing to say bout lil john, the beats sound similar but they stilll good beats most the time. never listened to mos def or talib kweli so i guess i rather listen to rap then hip hop, and i dont know when the hell rap started being kalled hip hop, so which rapper really is the best now? everyone thinks they are the best, hopefully X will make more albums and come out of retirement like ma$e, theres a lot of ppl coming out of atlanta now, the south needs to die and bring the west back
Oh yeah, as for Lean Back...There's a remix using the beat and Notorious BIG lyrics. I even think it's an official remix because I heard it on the digital radio that comes with digital cable. That was the tightest and best mix of that song. Otherwise, I can't wait for it to die out.
That Biggie mix is crazy though, anyway I like that song, the remix more than the original, but in general I like it. I go to the clubs a lot though, so maybe that's why. The one song I don't like is "Tip Drill" I mean the song is cool, but all these dumbass white girls pointing out what they think is a "Tip Drill" just baffles me... all I can think is come on you dumbass you have no clue what the song means, so just don't... ya, just don't.

All these rappers could be doing better songs but it's not what sells. Songs like Lean Back and G-units shit is good for when you're driving wit your friends are hanging out in a club u could care less about the lyrics but aslong as the beat and the chorus is hot then they got at hit. I just hate that they overplayed the freaking song.

If u wanna hear how fucked up Fat Joe's got it download Sh*t Is Real Pt. III I'll tell u right now it's more emotional than any other shit out there cuz u feel his pain.

and how come it seems all the non-threatning rappers like Common, Mos Def and the rest of em have mad white fans.
You do understand you can use the word Shit, as well as, semi-proper grammar...
It's funny cause he used "shit" several times, maybe just copied and pasted the song name.
