I understand giving away games for free, but the actual console? As a consumer who has to save up $400 for this machine, it really sucks to see people get it for free when they can probably afford to buy one to begin with...

Still, congrats, that's an awesome haul :D Naturally, I'm very envious :p

This really isn't anything new. Keep in mind that the press usually only get one console for their office, but otherwise have to buy their own. This is more of an investment for Sony to allow people ample time to work with the console, play games for reviews at home, etc. And from the reviews on Knack so far, that's when playing games. . .becomes actual work.
