Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)
dude. i didnt hoard to sell. i bought one for a family member and another for a friend and one for myself. others on the site have bought more than 1. your just jealous Ikohn4ever!

I just got back from Best Buy and I tried the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player with 2 box sets and it just discounted the price by less than 50%. I ended up picking Transformers and 300 and I had hoped to get a rain check for Heroes since it doesn't say anything about not being able to give them out. However, they denied me saying that they couldn't. Funny thing was that I gave out a rain check to a customer for Heroes for this deal earlier in the week. So I think BB made it so it doesn't give you the option anymore because if I remember correctly, I did the same exact thing customer service was trying to do. I ended up returning everything and got my gf a Super Mario DS lunch box that came with a bunch of accessories and crap.

I could've gotten in on this deal had I been working yesterday. There's one copy of Heroes on HD left, but it's a dot-com order. I could've bought it with the deal using cash and no one would've ever known. However, this would suck for the customer. Would you do it?

yeah i tried to buy one for my aunt Jemimah and my grandma Moses, but they were out, see i can make it seem like I ain't hoarding either.

Ah Also when I was purchasing my items, the cashier started like yelling OMFG! OMFG! You get Sopranos for FREE also!?!!?! I played dumbfounded and was like O thats cool. I just wanted him to keep his damn mouth shut since he could have ruined it for me :D

Hoarding is not good. I have another set with just heroes that ill be returning, cause I got what I wanted today. I'm not crazy about buying movies, but 3 free epic box-sets are worth it. I was going to get smallville instead of the planet one, but that show is too emo for me.

So for anyone wondering, this is still working in the miami area.

I got the HD drive, Sopranos S6 Parts 1 & 2, and Heroes, $190 AT. I was standing there watching the numbers come up on the screen, $525 AT! Shit, it doesn't work! But there was a delay before the discount was applied, $190. Thank you very much!

How is the A2 vs. the 360 addon? I just have a 1080i TV. Thinking about getting the A2 at Walmart.
How is the A2 vs. the 360 addon? I just have a 1080i TV. Thinking about getting the A2 at Walmart.
About the same in my opinion. 360 addon saves room. :bouncy:

im also interested in seeing/reading comparisons..

id mostly be interested in only 1080p standalone players since i dont know if my tv converts 1080i into p automatically.

the a3 should of been 1080p ready from the start

i got the deal at the first store, the cashier lady was very friendly. i had sopranos p1, matrix and planet earth all at the counter to be checkout and she was happy to let me choice which two i want.
(while i was going to check if they have sopranos p2 in store, she did went and look at the retailer guide, and she did not said anything)

then i drove 50minutes to another store where i had online order the dvd driver on this past sunday, i told the cashier i want to get 10 discount because she took like 10 minutes to find my drive but she said no, because i am going to buy it in store and it is not a online purchase anymore.

i brought heroes, soprano p2 *2 and went to checkout, she scan everything and then a screen pop up and said something about 2 free hddvd for free and she need to pick yes or no. she pick yes the first time and soprano p2 change to 0.00 and she was what? she delete the soprano p2 and rescan it again just to make sure. and same thing happen later she went to get her little book and point out to me that only hddvd priced at 34.99 or lower are eligible so i went to pick up something else. she asked me to go and get something else.

i went over to the hddvd section and pick out transformer and the departed . took me like ten minutes because i wanted the sopranos p2 *2. at the mean time a strange lady was at the customer service shouting out about she wants her money back. i thought it was my lucky time so grab everything at the counter and head over to the checkout lane instead and boom the cashier at the checkout lane was first shock at what i am buying she said "is this all yours" i said "yes" and she scans everything and at the free hddvd pop up screen she just click yes and i swipe my credit card and went home:)

at the mean time i was checking out at the lane i was so nervous if the customer service lady was going to come over and prevent me from checking out. but i guess she is too busy to dealing with the strange lady. i have to said the strange lady save my ass. thank you.

Deal still working in West Hollywood BB in SoCal. The customer service lady looked skeptical and said it couldn't be combined (the free Heroes + 2 additional HD-DVDs). I told her the weekly manager's newsletter allows it, so she scanned all my items in the computer and poof!: $195 after taxes. She was a little surprised and indifferent at the same time. =P

So I got Fearless and the Ultimate Matrix Collection with the deal. Awesome.
Just checked the SD and people said the box sets are dead now? Any confirmation from CAGs?
It is YMMV. One best buy wouldn't allow any free movies at all. The second allowed free movies, but if they were more than $34.99, then it gave you a $34.99 credit towards that purchase.

I really need a link to the expired 5 free movie not the current deal that started on 10/01. I have looked everywhere and cannot find it or I may have overlooked it.
Thanks in advance.

Check at Amazon, I'm pretty sure I saw one there a couple days ago. Just go to one of the qualifying HD DVD player pages.

This has to be one of the most frustrating deals to follow, but in a good way I guess.

I went Monday and got the player with Heroes thinking it was a pretty good deal.

I went to buy something yesterday, saw the retail insider and discovered the 2 free extra deal, so I went to customer service and added them.

Now I come on here and discover the part about the box sets, which I wish I knew yesterday.

I wish I knew what would happen if I tried to swap out the movies. I'm tempted to try to buy a whole new set and just return the first one if it works
what are you going to do with the expired one?
Not exactly expired. Can't buy anything more with it, but you have till 10/31 to mail in stuff purchased before 9/30..

EVERYBODY READ THIS

I decided to go to the Best Buy I work out and see what I can do. After sitting around and seeing what I could do, one of my fellow employees gave me a brilliant idea.

Basically, if you want the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player with 2 free copies of any HD-DVDs of you're choosing, Heroes MUST be part of the deal. However, since Heroes was sold out, I told her to enter in the SKU and then give me a rain check. However, she believed that wouldn't work because we can't sell something we don't have. She called our manager and she said that it was fine as long as I have the receipt. So she typed in the SKU for Heroes and all 3 HD-DVDs were free (Heroes, Matrix Trilogy, and Sopranos Season 6: Volume 1). This was done about an hour or so ago. YMMV depending on the manager of the store and whatnot.

Now, the problem is having to wait for a shipment of Heroes. For those of you who aren't patient, order it off of bestbuy.com and once it arrives, take it to the store you got the rain check at and return it. Right after you return it, bust out your rain check and ask for the HD-DVD. They'll give it back to you for free.

Apparently, a Geek Squad employee did this but earlier in the week. He got Heroes from bestbuy.com, returned it, then bought it again with the 360 HD player. However, it's too late to do this because the deal does end on Sunday (I've heard it might be for two weeks, but I'm not sure).

Any questions?

just saw this today and decided i would buy another HD-DVD addon after i sold my old one a while ago...was able to get the following

Hd-DVD addon
Heroes
Ultimate Matrix
Planet Earth

$194.61 total

after confirming it worked with no problem i figured i will get another one with both of the Sopranos sets and sure enough no issue at all....

i am amazed that this deal was still working, i just wish there were more boxsets to choose from:) now that i have another HD player i guess i need to sell my Transformers Target set and get the HD version

Add me to the list of dumbfounded people that BB has yet to kill this deal. It would have been nice if the Kubrick collection boxset was also out on HD DVD (versus individually).

Well, deal still worked for me. Went and Returned/Rebought everything, except I switched out knocked up for The Ultimate Matrix Collection. I would have picked up Planet Earth as well, but sadly they didn't have any, but I'm fine with Transformers. The guy doing my return was surprised at the deal, then another worker came over and freaked out asking if I found Heroes on the sales floor, then when I told him I bought it last night he sounded sad.

Thanks again for the deal CAG!

Oh, also, any deals on Friday Night Lights? And if anyone is willing to part with their Planet Earth for less than retail or a trade, please drop me a PM! :D

that's right major maz, that's what the deal is, buy Xbox 360 HD DVD Player get Heroes S1 (HD), 5 mail ins + 2 in store choices ($34.99 or less or if the boxset deal works at the BB you go to then 2 box sets)

Does anyone know how the mail-in rebate works if I live in Canada? Would I be ineligible or can I use the US receipt to get the Canadian offer? I doubt I'd be able to get the US mail-in offer...

If Best Buy is still doing this deal on Tuesday (when I'll be there) and they allow box sets for the second two HD-DVDs, I'd definitely bite.

I doubt the deal will still be alive then. The 5 free offer is valid for the US only according to the form that printed out at the register. But you could try filling out the Canadian deal. If the deal still exists, you could also probably sell the UPC off the HDDVD drive and your receipt to another CAG or on ebay.

Anybody (like me :D) who would rather have a standalone player, Circuit City lowered the price on the A2 to $198. PLUS there's the CC $40 off $200 coupon, and I don't know why it wouldn't work on this. Just buy something for a few bucks to get over $200, and use the coupon to get $40 off. $160 for the A2. ;)

Now I've gotta find the link to those coupons...I have it saved, and just looked at it - expires 10/31. Maybe there will be a new one soon?

The delay in Best Buy fixing this reminds me of the Fox tv set bonanza from a few months back where everyone was getting 10 dollar tv sets... took most of the week for BB to fix it, luckily then like now, I had already got what I wanted...

CC's HD-dvd snafu last week was dead pretty quickly... compared to BB, I was all prepared to get shot down until the toal rang, I was happy

Looks like my freebies will be
Babel
The Thing
Swordfish
Frighteners (wifes fav)
Darkman

Canada has its own 5 free offer with some crappier movie selection. That's true about the selling I guess.

The Best Buy deal is so much better, I HAVE a standalone player (as I watch my planet earth I got today) but getting the boxed sets was the clincher in my buying another player (that will be sold off along with Heroes as I have it too)

I took advantage of the loophole in an Amazon sale a couple months ago to get the A2 for a little over 200 with 8 free hd-dvd's... now new get 5 deal, and an even better deal from Best Buy on a stand alone

A2's loading time is about aminute, it's very shitty compare to the add-on, but it doesn't need the X360, so it's a deal for some at $200. Personally, i'll go for the add-on if you have a X360. However, the add-on can RRoD your X360 as well...
About the same in my opinion. 360 addon saves room. :bouncy:
Yes, definitely smaller than the A2, but still i wish it's build in the X360, this way, you only need one plug...

Hmmm, this explains why my dot-com order was not at the store! I figure i do the pick-up thing and then straighten everything while i'm at the customer service center... After getting the pick-up confirmation e-mail, i drove to the BB store and no, my order was not there... I gave the pick-up follow up a big negative feedback...

I had the Add-on drive and sold it on ebay in favor of the A-2 when it was $200 on crutchfield. I hated the Add-on. While the video looked superb, the drive itself -- well, the xbox itself -- was way too loud while playing the movie. It was distracting and drowned out the surround sound.

It really depends... some CCs are not taking that coupon anymore, but good luck to you! P.S. Unless you need a HD-DVD player really really bad, don't get the A2... Save the moola and go for another notch higher.

Yeah, I just looked it up on the XBOX website. I also checked out the what the UK gets offered and I am jealous: Serenity, Children of Men and The Prestige among others. I was already planning to get The Prestige from Xploitedcinema, but getting it free would have been nice.

Well, it could be, but mistakes do happen. However, they RARELY happen. My Best Buy recently decided to give $10 gift cards if it's we don't have it after you receive the confirmation e-mail.

I would also recommend calling 1888BESTBUY and complain about what happened. From what I've read at a few forums, it seems like they've been giving out gift cards recently for the amount of the Heroes on HD (or two free HDDVDs) if there were any problems, so definitely do that.

While the deal is tad sweet (it's good, but come on now, it's an add-on we're talking about), i'm having some worries about the five free movies rebate (maybe paranoid, but still wanna talk about it). See, when you send the paper works, the reciept got the free items all over it, does that raise some kind of red flag when they process the rebate? Can they turn down your rebate if they think your purchase got a glitchy promotion? I don't think so, but still...

Yeah, i gave that 888 number a call already, complained like there's no tomorrow (hey $3 gas and 40 minutes of opportunity cost). I got nada... the guy just cancelled my order (well, i'm not gonna wait till they send me another pick-up e-mail, which will be very queer if that happens). Sigh, the $10 is not much, but at least some compensation, but i didn't get it anyway...

Anyhow, the bad luck from the pick-up episode must brought some good luck this AM, because i went back to the same BB and this very nice young man helped me out, rare species indeed!

Uh... no, there have been all sorts of freebie offers in addition to the mail in offered from retailers, and besides, the hd-dvd player shows up on the receipt at the 179.99 prices, there is nothing to worry about with this. My rebate form was accepted fine when I bought my A2 from Amazon, which included 3 free movies from Amazon

a quick question. what happen when you go to the store and pick up a online order but they don't have it in stock.

my online order is still in the system but they don't have it since i brought it in store, instead of as doing it as a store pick up order.
