Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)
The fine print reads must be 34.99 or less on the BB ad. Bourne and 300 only come packed in the A-30 box. With the A-30 its 9 free movies, 2 in the box, 2 instant with "any" hd-dvd player purchase, and the 5 MIR.

I'm trying to get Heroes, and the 2 free with "any" hd-dvd player purchase. Gotta try and exploit it b4 BB pulls the plug like "Circuit ShittY"

Who's gonna be at BB first thing in the morning when doors are opening?????? I know I am.
The way the ad is written you can. It says that you get 2 free HD-DVDs with and HD-DVD player purchase. I can't see the fine print, but I'm going to try it out.
alright on a sidenote should i print the ad scans or will they have the ads somewhere in store
alright on a sidenote should i print the ad scans or will they have the ads somewhere in store
They always have ads instore.

I'm going to jump in on the deal, but I don't really want Heroes. If anyone wants it for $50 shipped, let me know. Otherwise, it's just going to go on ebay.

Hey HDDVD fans, I need some encouragement because I think the format is slowly losing the format war :( I walked into my blockbuster today and they had put all the hddvd movies in the lowest shelf of the blue ray section. I thought they had done away with them all together until i peeked around and found them. Should I ignore this or take it as a sign of more pressure by companies to choose blue ray as the format for the future?

Read blockbusters move as what it is, a bad attempt to assist sony in forcing blu-ray. How many places have gone HD-DVD exclusive? None, because HD-DVD will win(if it does) by getting better exclusive titles and not by cutting the flow of the opposite brand to the customer.

on the Best Buy deal, don't forget you still get King Kong in the box, so with Heroes you're getting 7 free movies. also, look at Target's shelves, they've increased the BluRay section while decreasing their HD selections. i hope the retailers aren't going to try to force us to go BR if the PS3 tanks.

Target was paid to increase their BluRay selection. Blockbuster decided to drop HD months ago, and it was like a drop in the bucket. Who knows if they got paid to do it or not, but i wouldnt doubt they got some incentive. Back to the Deals!

I want to wait to get in on this deal so that i can get a Kucrick DVD on Tuesday, but who knows if it will last that long!

I haven't seen either of the drops take place. My local blockbuster has gotten in all of the new HD DVD releases (Including Transformers this week) and the two targets in Philadelphia carry like 12 HD and 16 BR titles... if that is considered an increase in shelf space I wouldn't know but since BR has more titles available it is reasonable to assume 4 more titles would be available.

the inital 250 pilot stores that carried both formats before they made the decision to go bluray are *still* carrying HD-DVD...

Target is just a pimple on someone's butt...nobody takes them seriously for HD movies.

I'm tempted to buy another 360 Add-On for the Heroes deal [+ 5 more free] , it might be worth it .

I have $15 in Reward Zone coupons too .

Am I crazy ?

Well, I have a Xbox 360 connected to my primary computer in the bedroom. Mind you, I have a 24" Dell 2405FPW LCD display, that is EVERYTHING except HDCP compliant. So I use VGA to run from the PC to the LCD, and my movies look great!

If you have ANY use for another HD-DVD drive, this is a SCREAMING deal!!!
Target is just a pimple on someone's butt...nobody takes them seriously for HD movies.
But its enough in order to add fuel to the fire for Bluray supporters.

Nope. I've got a A-2 and i'm thinking about this one just for the 8 movies and heroes.
As Sporadic posted on the HD DVD thread on the X360 forums, Resident Evil is available for order at XploitedCinema.com This is the German (ONLY HD DVD) version and it goes for $38.95

http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/resident-evil-german-release-p-12916.html
I have a few questions as I've never bought an HD DVD from something like this. 1) Since this is a German HD DVD, will the audio be in german or english or both? 2) Are HD DVD region-encoded like normal DVDs are? Will my United States HD DVD player support a german HD DVD?

I'm super tempted to jump on the Best Buy deal today. My 52" HDTV only supports 480p and 1080i and only has component and DVI inputs. Is it still worth it to take the plunge with those TV specs?

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and grabbed this deal from J&R!

UPDATE: I ordered the HD Drive from J&R on friday and they still hadn't processed my order by 10/21 so I called to cancel my order figuring I will just go to BB to pick it up and the J&R customer service agent I called asked me would I keep my order if I was to receive an additional discount. I asked how much and he said $15 off. So now I got the HD-DVD drive with S1 of Heros for $165 with no tax and $6 UPS shipping. Not instant gratification, but $15 off and no taxes make this a better deal than BB imo.

Alright the east coast stores are open now, please let us know whether you were able to get the 2 additional movies with your hd-dvd player purchase.

Just got back from the daytona beach store with the 360 HD-dvd addon, Heroes (free) Bourne Identity (free), and Superman returns (free). Cashier had to get a manger/supervisor who initially said no. I showed him the add and told him the only fine print was concerning the price of the HD-dvds. He price adjusted and said he was going to check on this. So YMMV and go soon.

Very nice. There is a brand new BB like 5 minutes from my house. I will be at the doors when they open. I should have a better chance due to the snow we just got overnight and this morning. :) I love snow.

By $90 bucks. I was hoping that my A-20 would drop but I guess I can't complain due to the 3 dvd glitch when I picked it up.
i noticed the a30 is 309 at amazon... isnt that a price drop?
hey i bought the hd dvd addon a few days ago before i knew they where doing this deal. what i would like to know is if i go in there will they honor my purchase and give me heros or do i need to lie to them and say that my 360 broke and i need my money back for the hd add on. And just buy it from anouther Best Buy store.

I was denied. The manager wouldn't override.

So, I left everything on the counter and stormed out in a pretend huff, dreaming of glitter.

If its within 30 days pretty sure you can just go in with the receipt and get it.
i noticed the a30 is 309 at amazon... isnt that a price drop?
Im really tempted on buying it at that price, but the only reason that keeps me from buying it is because im hoping Amazon will sell the A3 around $230 for Black Friday.

I brought up the ad to the cashier and it quickly went up the management food chain. Another manager came up and said to me that it was a misprint and that they were printing up a notice immediately. She then said that she'd give me the 2 extra discs free.

So.

HD Add-On w/KK + Heroes + Fountain + 300 - $20 Reward Certificate = $167

I happy.

No deal at both Wilmington del bb stores.

Kirkwood store I had 2 managers over.

The second one argued that it is only for the regular he hddvd players.
I showed her right on the box "hd DVD player"

Then she insisted this was only for toshiba players. I pointed to add "any hd DVD player"

Oh, its only for home theater hd DVD players
huh?

She insisted this was gaming player and does not work without
a x 360.

How do argue with that kind stupidity

Thanks for the help man. I just called up there and they said they would honor my purchase and give me heros. :) So if you purchased your HD player within 30 days you may want to call up and see if they will do the same for you.

heading down to the best buy here in Columbia Maryland. Going to try and get both the deals, i'll let you know how it goes =)

Exact same thing happened here at 2 Houston stores. I even called 1888bestbuy and they said no go

So, I want to do the "buy new hd dvd, send old UPC code" thing. So, is there any way for them to know with the serial of the old HD DVD drive that it was purchased before the promotion?

I was able to get Heros free, I bought my HD DVD player 11 days ago, they just did a return and rebuy. Best part about it I used $55 in reward zone certs which they refunded to my account and when she had me rebuy it she just adjusted the price to 124.99 manually. w00t!

Crap wished I knew about the 2 free HD DVD movies, would have tried that too.

Not only was the get two free was shot down at Colma, CA, they also ran out of heroes (I got the last one). They also ran out of trnasformers and 300 (couldn't trying the 300 deal). They did have a few dozen 360 HD-DVD players though. The employyes and managers were very nice though. They weren't giving us bullshit reasons, but actually called up people and tried confireming it online.

Oh well, I got a 75 dollar gift card, so it came out to 120 for Heroes, the HD-DVD drive, and King Kong. I'll just get shuan of the dead and hot fuzz some other time.

YMMV for the 2 free HD DVDs. The Best Buy in Ann Arbor, MI said the 2 Free disk were for "stand alone" players. Three people came up while I was talking to the BB workers, and we all got stone walled.

It also sucks that the BB only had 4 copies of Heroes on HDDVD, so anyone that wasn't there when they first opened is screwed.

Ok, got back from the Columbia Md Store, and it is a no go. They said the 360 player is considered a console. I pointed to the HD-DVD Player on the box, and said "you can't play any games with this. It is a player, not a console." At that point the manager (Logan) got upset and said, "here is the deal. You can have one or the other. But not both." I took his name, and then told him I would call 1-888-BestBuy. I left everything at the counter and walked out.

Called Best Buy, and they were very kind and made it worth my while.

Details on what calling Best Buy did for you? We received the same response from 2 BB's (the first one being much, much ruder than the second), and I'm debating as to whether calling the 1-888 number will get me anywhere.

What did they tell you? I didn't think calling would do any good, but I'll have to give it a try myself.

Got to the Warwick, RI store right when they opened. I grabbed the HD-DVD drive (with KK), 300, Heroes and Transformers and headed to the register. I was at #2 and there was a guy at register #1 with the exact same stack, lol. They had paged the manager for him and they had the cashiers suspend the transactions while they called someone about it. While we were waiting the guy asked if I knew about the deal from slickdeals and I told him CAG. The manager came back and manually reduced the two movies to .01, gave the Heroes season 1 for free and said they were printing up a correction to post in the door that the 360 drive is excluded from the other deal.

Hoot! I had a mere $5 rewards certificate so it was $187.26 with tax for the drive, Heroes, 300, Transformers and five more free movies by mail.
