Just returned from the Columbia best buy, and also tried the one in Arrundel Mills Mall.

Both were a No Go, but i did end up getting heroes, king kong and the HD-DVD player. both managers were pretty cool, just said i could choose one or the other.

I'm sure i could've argued further but i really didn't feel like it.
 
he he he it worked for me. Walked into the BB picked up the HD dvd, heroes, transformers and batman begins. Had a manager come over, they did two seperate transactions and manually reduced transformers and batman to 100% discount. Took me about 2 mins at the register and I was out before they could think about it! I think it was $190 :)
 
well no go for me in Bakersfield CA
lady looked at the ad for a second and right away send its only for the toshiba hd dvd players
i didnt wanna try fighting for it if i went to the front(this was the games section)
 
did anyone get BS from 1-888-Bestbuy as well bout them sayin it aint a stand alone player, i told them thats false advertising & told them you have to honor your ad if its said in bold letters & they hung up on me,im thinking bout callin the BBB bout this
 
Hmm, your free to report them to the BBB, however I dont think they are in very high standing with them at the moment, same as circuitcity as well and they would rather not honor this deal unless enough people come forward and complain about it by internet, or even better newscast.
 
I went in today and it was no go for me. However, the BB manager there was very nice and offered me the employee discount for any HDDVDs I wanted to purchase.

He was like, "Sorry for the inconvience, but I'm willing to discount all your HDDVD purchases here at the store. Pick as many as you like :)"

No go in Greensburg PA. I'm not the type to fight for these things, especially when they're giving me a 100 dollar product for free already. The lady was really nice, and offered me a choice between the two deals. I went with Heroes, and still feel pretty good about it.

Just out of curiosity, how much is the average employee discount on HD DVDs?
 
I used to be an employee at best buy and the discount was 5% above cost. After I checked a few prices I noticed that amazon prices were same or very close to best buy discount.

Worked for me (sort of) at West LA BB. I got the two HD DVDs (Children of Men & A Mighty Heart) and asked for Heroes; they were sold out so I asked for a rain check. I was given a slip and asked to come back Tuesday to pick up Heroes.

I guess you could, but the new reciept I got says exchange on it with the 360 hd player and the 2 movies I got for free. I still have the original receipt, but need that for the 5 free movies in the mail.

Besides, I'm not going to abuse it since I'm already happy with 8 free movies and Heroes season one on hd dvd
 
Gonna do that tomorrow. Got shot down on the 2 free movies as well as the $40 off CC coupon. Stupid BB.

Oh crap, I just noticed something. I have a rain check for Heroes and the cashier told me to bring the piece of paper and the receipt. Then I went to another BB to get the 2 free dvds when you buy any hd player. The guy did an exchange with the 360 hd player and added the 2 free hd dvds to the recipet.

Should I bring the old receipt or the new one? If I bring the new one, what is the chance that they scan it and see that it is the most up to date receipt and start getting suspcious?
 
i really hope theres a hd dvd b1g1 sale or something comin up soon...that or its gonna be really hard to resist getting transformers and 300..or at the very least i'll bite on transformers :hot:

Need advice! Should I buy the heroes set, have it on hold that way at the store, go there and pretend like I saw the ad when I walked in, ask for my money back, and assure a copy of the box set for myself, or just wing it and hope they have in in stock when I go in tommorow?
 
I was able to get the Heroes deal but I was SO CLOSE to getting the 2 extra HD-DVD with player deal but the manager said no in the end :(
 
I bought mine yesterday. Got it and only Heroes, but I already had Transformers and 300. I've decided that for the forseeable future, I'll buy only certain movies in HD and the rest in SDVD.

Can you really trust these import sites?

Try bringing in your receipt to another BB and show them the ad with part with the 2 extra free dvds and say you bought an hd player yesterday and was looking through ads to see if I got a good deal and stumbled upon on this. I forgot to pick up my 2 extra free dvds. Emphasize on the "any hd player" part, worked for me

If you're talking about the one's in the OP yes you can. I have bought from XploitedCinema.com many times and I've always had a positive experience with them as well as other CAGs. As for ezdvd, one of our CAG's Sporadic has bought from them and he had a positive experience with them as well.

Why does Warner keep pre-authorizing my card, it's making me mad, since it takes away from my available credit. Not to mention scaring the crap out of me. I knew I had two charges on the card, and they didn't add up. I thought someone was stealing my info.. lol

I mean, I know they want to make sure money is there, but hell it HP doesnt ship till December 11th

Just got back from my attempt at exploiting the BB Heroes/2 Free DVDs and it looks like they have fixed the issue. It has been relayed to the stores that you can do 1 or the other not both. Booooo. No Big deal, i just wanted to get the new batch of 5 freebies.
 
Hmm, jr.com is dead now for this deal as well as buy.com and the 2 bestbuy strores closest to me is out of stock as well after only one day.:applause: So I will probably wait for another deal or see if they get anymore in stock before then.

You don't have to add Heroes to your cart. Just add the HD DVD player and it automatically bundles Heroes in...you'll see it on your cart.

read this at FatWallets.... anyone who bought or wants to buy the 360 add-on at best buy, should want to know this...

I got in my car and called 888-bestbuy.

I spent 10 minuets on the phone and went back into the store with my case number, selected the following

-Xbox HD-DVD player w/ king kong in box
-Transformers HD
-300 HD
-Heroes Season 1 HD

Went back to the same sales person, He looked at me and said "Looks like you changed your mind and decided to get in on this sweet deal"

I told him I was back and had talked with customer service and they said you have to honor the full deal. The manager then came over again and told me he could give me the heroes and player deal but not two more free. I handed him my case number and the name of my customer service rep and told him they said he should call to confirm. He spent 15 minutes talking on the phone. I got the deal.

Customer Service told me all stores recieved an email today telling them to honor the above mentioned deal due to the ambiguity of the sales flyer, everybody should jump on this deal now. If anyone give you a hard time just call 888-bestbuy and get a case number and have the manager call them back and confirm the deal. The manager was a real jack once he was forced to gove me the deal. He told me it was an "amazing deal he could not believe they would honor"

I said thank you and left.

I didnt have the nerve to try to get 300 with the online printout. It does say it may not work with other offers, this manager would have said no to that for sure.*******

I hope that is true about the 2 free movies. I have sold enough stuff on fleabay the last two days to afford the player am trying to decide if I want to go with the Heroes deal or hold out for something else. If this is true, this will definitely seal it for me!

(I did buy two additional HD-DVDs with the player... will they let me grab two more or just zero out the two that I bought with the player... or will it be my choice?)

Most likely your choice since they would have to return the HD DVD player in the system, re-sell it with the 2 free HD DVD's, so at the point of re-selling them, they could make the 2 free or if you have 2 others, make those free.
