Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)
Anyone have any experience doing two mail in rebates before?
I caved on the Amazon A2 + 7 HD DVDs for 210$ a while back but want to do this one as well (selling the HD dvd drive).
Can I get the rebate again? I can use a different address (dorm room).

Is the new rebate considered a totally different rebate in which I can get?

Or should I just go on the safe side and fill in all the information as my roomate?

Use your parents name and address .;)
3)if i return the hddvd player can i keep the hddvd movies:)
dont know if the hddvd count as free gift. if it does i have to return those as well.
I don't think so, if they zero'ed it out under the deal, then they might say 180 - 60 (for the 2 30 dollar dvds) and so you will get 120 back on your CC :(

so apparently some people are getting Best Buy's computers to take box sets instead of $34.99 and less movies. Ultimate Matrix and Planet Earth for free? yes please.

I'm curious about this as well. I might have to call up the number on the rebate to find out.

Hmm, might be worth trying to buy a whole new set if everything in stock at local store......

The new mail in offer has a different purchase period as well as a new set of HD DVDs as well as a different PO Box that the last offer that expired on 9/30. It seems like a whole new offer to me...The fine print says "This offer is limited to one family, household"...blah, blah...I'm no lawyer but that sounds like that offer is conditional to the current terms and wouldn't apply to anything that happened in the past. I doubt Toshiba would be all that upset if everyone went out and bought a second HD DVD device if only cost Toshiba a second set of promo-ed HD DVDs.

Dude...45 minute trip to BB as soon as it opens?! here i come...

so are you sure this is going to work? just out of curiosity...cuz i don't wanna drive 45 mins there to get Planet Earth and Ultimate Matrix if it's not going to work :(

Yeah, that would be massively YMMV. No manager in their right mind would let you take a $60/$100+ boxset as a bonus for a $179.99 player that already comes with Heroes

it's not the manager, though, it's supposedly in the system. As long as you don't have a tool cashier who reports it you could, if it works, be fine.

You know the cashier is going to call somebody over though. Having those show up free would raise a massive red flag.

Nah, it's always worth giving it a go but it seemed like animedude was looking for a sure bet, not a gamble.

this is true...but hey i guess i can try a gamble...besides it couldn't hurt seeing as i'll be getting 2 free hd dvds and heroes..then i can just sell off the xbox 360 hd dvd playa :whistle2:D going to try it this afternoon and i guess i shall report what i find out :)

if anyone else can confirm this whole Planet Earth and Matrix Trilogy deal...let me know please :whistle2:D

Damn, I wouldn't go as far as to try to get a box set. It says pretty boldly that the additional 2 HD DVD's must be priced at $34.99 or less.
are you serious, why would they do that.
so , if the drive dies 3 days after purchase, and you sent out the UPC with rebate already..you are screwed?

OMG... A friend of mine went to BB yesterday...

Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player + King Kong - $179.99
Heroes Season 1 - Free
Matrix Collection - Free
Planet Earth - Free
+ 5 Free in the mail...

WTF... I'm guessing the cpu/register zeroes out box sets as well!

I'm thinking about buying a new set today!

what other boxed sets are there at BB. I see online they have the "best of" boxed sets with 4 hd dvds but its not available for instore pickup so I assume they don't carry them at B&M

Yeah same here...that's taking advantage of the deal and possibly killing it for everyone else later in the week.

My Haul

HD-DVD Player - 165 after fees on eBay
Heroes - 55 after fees on eBay
Evan Almighty - Free
Music & Lyrics - Free
Tokyo Drift - Free
Shooter - Free

I had that exact same thing happen and BB exchanged it out with a new one because I had my receipt. They just took everything out of the new box and put the new HD DVD Player in my box that had the UPC cut out.

Is that a Shrek the Third Wii Game???? God that Wal-Mart is way to trusting with their VGs

How did you get 4 HDDVDs for free?
How did you get 4 HDDVDs for free?
First BB didnt do the transaction on the original reciept. Just went back and had them re-ring the trans. on the original.

I got the entire deal ordering it over the phone. Why drive far to see if the dvd's are in the store when they can send it to you from the wearhouse!

Free shipping?

holy shit guys..

you got to be kidding me.

I've seen the online scans of the receipts from others but still can't believe it.

Matrix trilogy HD-DVD box set for free?!?!?!?

Planet earth HD-DVD box set for free!??!?!!?

Ok I already have the mega collection for the matrix trilogy so I don't need it again, even in HD-DVD form...

I might just return everything again *sigh*, rebuy it the package, keep heroes, keep transformers and take Planet earth instead and loose batman begins.

argh :|

it's gonna be a pain to chuck this thing around AGAIN. Plus it's raining on and off :|

Reviews said Planet Earth looks AMAZING in hddvd. I will probably be shot down for this at my bb.
:^o
I bought it on Sunday, went in on Tuesday with BB Case Number, they just rang up the 2 movies changed price to .01. Last night went back to the store and had them fix it. They reduced the HD-DVD's price to 115 and had me buy the HD-DVD's with the balance.

I am sorry guys, but getting the matrix trilogy and planet earth for free is just too good to pass up. I will attempt today.
so i hate to be probably the 100th person to ask this is the hd dvd palyer for 360 any good?
it is awesome!

It indeed works! I checked the computer out and it looks like the deal is good. i got the xbox 360 player w/ king kong, heores season 1, transformers, and the Ultimate Matrix Collection for the 179 plus tax price. Not a bad deal. The price of the heroes and matrix collection practically pay for the player!

if anyone cant get to a BB to get on this offer. PM me and maybe we can make a deal on getting this deal for ya!

Ok, so this is RIDICULOUS. I'm going to try to explain what I've done in the last two days:

1. Circuit City, price match attempt. They gave me the player + free Heroes but would not give me the two free HD DVDs. I bought it and grabbed Hot Fuzz to knock it over $200 and used my $40 off coupon to get the whole setup for $188 after tax. They applied an across-the-board discount on each item.

2. Returned Heroes to CC w/ Receipt showing I paid $74, got $80 back after tax.

3. Went to BB, picked up the following with that $80 and a 10% off coupon:

Sean of the Dead
2001: A Space Odyssey
Top Gun
Knocked Up

At this point I now have those 4 movies plus King Kong, Hot Fuzz and the 5 free in the mail for a grand total of approx. $190

4. Went to Best Buy today and picked up ANOTHER HD-DVD drive with free Heroes and tested the whole "box-set" glitch. It worked. I got Planet Earth and the Matrix Trilogy for free.

5. I will now sell the second HD-DVD drive with the 5 mail in offer and King Kong on eBay for (hopefully) around $160.

In summary, if the eBay sales works as planned (I checked completed auctions for prices) I'll have obtained the following for approx. $230.00

Total Spent:

$188 (original HDDVD offer)
+ $197 (2nd HDDVD offer)
- $160 (eBay sale of 2nd HDDVD offer)
______
= $225 for the following items:

HD-DVD Drive
King Kong
Hot Fuzz
Sean of the Dead
2001: A Space Odyssey
Top Gun
Knocked Up
Planet Earth
Heroes Season 1
Ultimate Matrix Collection
The Italian Job
Pitch Black
Full Metal Jacket
The Frighteners
Troy

Wow. Just wow.

.
isn't that illegal?

Ok, well this glitch with any 2 HD-DVDs totally works. I have the HD-DVD player, Heroes, Sopranos Season Six Part 1, and the Complete Matrix Trilogy (some guy getting the same deal I did got the Ultimate Edition right before me) for $194.84. This has got to be the best deal I've ever gotten off of CAG.

After everything I'm going to hopefully get the HD-DVD player for next to nothing with King Kong and the Matrix. Great Dea.

is it in the system now? can I just walk up and out without saying anythings and im good to go? cause they have this sign at my store denying it like to the utmost. (sorry the pic sux I took it with my phone and the manager was right there)
is it in the system now? can I just walk up and out without saying anythings and im good to go? cause they have a sign posted at my store denying it.
That's what I did. Just take it all with you.

YOU MUST HAVE HEROES. I tried it at another store without heroes and it didn't work. After they ring everything up and hit total another screen popped up asking if they want to use the free heroes promotion (or something like that). They hit yes, everything totals to 0.00.
