Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)

holy shit I forgot about tv seasons, is it worth heading out now? its like 5 mins away but I dont feel like getting denied.
Yes it is worth it.
is it in the system now? can I just walk up and out without saying anythings and im good to go? cause they have this sign at my store denying it like to the utmost. (sorry the pic sux I took it with my phone and the manager was right there)
You are confusing the deals. That sign means the only way to get Bourne and 300 free is to buy that specific DVD player (because they are in the box).

Xbox player: 5 by mail + 2 instantly + Heroes
This player: 5 by mail + 2 instantly + Bourne/300

Metro ATL update-
I can confirm Cobb parkway is honoring the box sets, Sopranos HD final season 6 part II For $109 (free) Planet Earth (free).
Note: They are running out of HD DVD drives fast! The floor was empty and I had to get one pulled from the back. They had about 4 copies of HEROS left.

Kennesaw location has plenty of HD-DVD drives but is totally out of HEROS on HDDVD as of 4 pm.
Yeah, this is what the manager at my local store was claiming yesterday. I'm hoping he's not there today, or that he'll realise that they are different issues. Seems clear enough to me from that Insider scan. Wish me luck! Haha.

You guys piss me off. I got in on this deal with the lsat HDDVD drive today at my lunch and thought I got out pretty good with Transformers and Knocked up Dual disk....

Little did I know I could have rocked Planet Earth and another Boxxed set...

I am making th trip back there to see if I can get one fromt he back as online claims there still in stock...

well I am back, this deal is def in the system, you dont have to say a word. I couldnt bring myself to buy any boxsets but buying the sopranos pt 1 and 2 which togeher cost $260 (they are $129.99 each at my BB), was tempting and def would have worked.

MY HAUL:
360 HD DVD Drive
Heroes HD DVD
Transformers HD DVD
Batman HD DVD
5 FREE HD DVDS
Accidental $70 GiftCard

For a grand total of $194

Picked up XBOX 360 HD DVD, Ultimate Matrix, Heroes, and Planet Earth this morning at the Cerritos CA BB, $192 out the door. One copy of Heroes HD left on the shelf.

About 2 hours later picked up another set at the Lakewood CA BB. I'm going to send the second set of 5 free discs to a relative's house and sell the extra player + HDDVDs. They had 3 more copies of Heroes incase anyone wants to try there.

Wait, you used a $70 GC? How was it $194?
You HAVE to have heroes for this to work, so that sucks
If you find yourself in that situation you can do the following because I confirmed it:
1. Buy Heroes at a BB with it in stock
2. Return it at a 2nd BB with HD DVD players in stock (do this at cust. serv.)
3. Re-buy it with HD DVD and other discs at 2nd store.

This could also work vice versa with a HD DVD swap but Heroes is the key to the free.
it is awesome!
Guyver,

Whats this I read about having to be connected tot he internet with the 360 to even play HD movies? Got a link to that info? The FAQ was deleted.

I don't feel like connecting just to watch a damn HD movie if I open my 360 HD Drive.

Thanks for any help.
Wait, you used a $70 GC? How was it $194?
I didnt use it, I got it out of this deal It is on its way to me thru the mail. I called the 1888BESTBUY number and told them I got denied the deal (which I did) and they said they would send me that as compensation. Now that its in the system I headed back and got the deal, which is why I called the GC accidental.
how does the 360 hd player work in comparison to the A2? the only response i got to how it work is its awesome.
It's louder and boots up faster.
how does the 360 hd player work in comparison to the A2? the only response i got to how it work is its awesome.
There are some advantages to the 360 player in that the processing done by the 360 making it easily upgradeable via firmware updates over live. I like 1080p display options and that alone made it the easier choice.

It is also possbile to use the 360 drive with a PC (or laptop). Making it a portable HD drive to take your movies with you on the road.

If you'd rather have a standalone HD player, it seems that Walmart is gearing up to sell the remainder of their A2 stock for $198. At least 18 per store, starting November 3. Remember, these won't come with Bourne Identity & 300.

for those who cant get on the deal. my BB still has 5-6 HD-DVD drives left and well as heroes s1 and 2 HD - DVDs. let me know if you are interested and maybe we can work out a deal! PM me for more details!

That's the location by my work 5min away...tempting since I have a raincheck on Heroes at the Westminster location but I wouldn't do the boxsets, it just doesn't seem right.

Thanks....I just checked back a few pages and saw it worked. Getting me another HD-DVD player! I canot pass up this deal...assuming it will work for me. Probably get Sopranos and Planet Earth

I wanted to get Planet Earth instead of The Matrix, but they were all out. I'm scared to push my luck on exchanging it at another BB.

Addon + Heroes S1 + Ultimate Matrix Trilogy + Children of Men for a little over 190 out the door! The cashier literally said "Holy $hi!" when he saw the promotion applied. :applause:

Throw in 5 free via mail in rebate and King Kong in the box and this deal is beyond amazing.

Hopefully this will get a lot of guys to jump in on HDM! I know a lot of people are holding out until a format is declared a winner, but let's face it, if this war wasn't going on, there wouldn't be deals like this!

It's the competition that is driving down the cost of players and bringing this wave of buy one get one and free disc sales.

Just got back from the Burbank BB. Picked up:

HD DVD Player
Heroes
Ultimate Matrix
Planet Earth

all for less than $200 after tax. The cashier said he'll get a set as well.

HOLY SHIT it fucking WORKED :O

returned the 360 package (drive, heroes, transformers, and bb) to my CC

Re-bought the 360 package, only this time got Planet Earth instead of BB to my CC.

Was ALMOST shot down by the CSR, but I asked him nicely, and he ran the drive, heroes, transformers and PE and bam, $180+tax!! it worked fine! A Mod needs to put this on the front page of CAG cause this is one hell of a deal. I know it's already on the front page, but the any 2 hd-dvd's will process in the system so it can be 100 dollars or 30 dollars hd-dvd and it will still work. No overrides or anything.

Funny thing when I was returning and rebuying, an employee said "ARE YOU RETURNING THAT?!?!?!(HEROES)" and the CSR said no he's returning and rebuying it. The employee thought they had it instock at that location when I got heroes from another location. :p

Feels like a early Black Friday deal huh? Watch BB will probably have a better deal for HD-DVD systems that will top this (8 movies and a drive for 180plus tax!)

Most of the store employees couldn't believe this deal, but it's in the system and it works.

Is this a glitch? I don't think so because they would have fixed it by now.

Damn, this deal is really HOT now! I just got my player and Heroes today from Amazon and was happy how I made out after using my gift certificate, but the box set deal would have easily made the hour drive to my closest BB worth it. Oh well, the player is pretty sweet! If someone wants to sell Planet Earth on the cheap or wants to CML for it, I'm definitely interested.
Is this a glitch? I don't think so because they would have fixed it by now.
It is a glitch, the deal is for 2 free HD DVD's priced $34.99 and under. This is why I haven't/won't update the OP, surely the deal will die as more people do this, my guess is that by tomorrow it will be fixed.

If I already bought a Xbox360 HD DVD and Heroes on Sunday, but didn't get the two free movies, am I eligible to bring in my receipt and pick up those free movies?

Thanks for your help!
Jesse

yes you are

Had to go back and get a set of Planet Earth and Ultimate Matrix.

Im selling the last set i got with just Transformers and 300 at cost to a friend- he doesnt feel like driving around looking for a store with Heroes and drive in stock.
Just sold my old Complete matrix collection($20 CC price mistake too) used on Amazon for $50 so makes it sweeter.
I wanted to get Planet Earth instead of The Matrix, but they were all out. I'm scared to push my luck on exchanging it at another BB.
Exchange won't work. Bought 300 and Planet Earth and on my way home thought "Why don't I just get the Matrix boxset and pay $35 for 300?" Turned around and the exchange didn't work. Had to do a full return and repurchase and bought 300 on a separate receipt. Return isn't showing up on my card though... Hmmm...

Anyway, here's my receipt:
As good as a deal this is, I really don't want to invest in a technology that might fail.
As good a deal as this is, I don't care if it fails or not ;)

I decided to the plunge a day early because of the Matrix/Planet Earth deal; very glad I did. The $5 or $10 in gas it took to get to BB allowed me to jump in and get the last drive they had; might have been gone tomorrow night.

Looked briefly around the store for signs about the deal, and saw none, so I figured I was in the clear. Grabbed Heroes (they had like 10 up front), searched for the drive and finally found the last one, grabbed my matrix and earth and headed for the register.

The guy who rang me up was really cool. He asked if there were any Heroes sets left, which I assumed meant he was going to get in on this after work or something. I told him there were tons, but no drives; he then said his friend had just bought a drive last week and was going to come price match for Heroes, so I was now a bit worried since this meant he WASN'T doing this deal himself. He scanned it all in and when the prompt came up for the deal, he immediatly hit yes, and then did a double take when he realized what happened. After a second of thinking he just sort of said whatever and didn't put up a fuss.

I know ebaying is frowned upon (although not so much in this thread I guess ;)), but I'll be selling my CC Complete Matrix and the Planet Earth, since my bro has that. My g/f is sort of mad I bought this, so I'll surprise her when I show her that it is hopefully going to cost me $75 (assuming I can sell at $60 each set and the markets bottom doesn't fall out on this... with my luck it surely will).

So...
HD-DVD Drive
Heroes Season 1
Ultimate Matrix
King Kong
5 Movies I haven't decided on
----------------
$75 after ebay (hopefully)

That's roughly $9 an item. That's INCREDIBLE.

Even if I just kept it all, it's about $20 each. Still great.
As good as a deal this is, I really don't want to invest in a technology that might fail.
Thats the deal though with this new deal going on you are definately recieving the drive for free.

Understandable. But man, what a glitch. Hope the guy who posted the Retail insider doesn't get busted for posting that internal memo.
As good as a deal this is, I really don't want to invest in a technology that might fail.
With Transformers HD DVD being the single best selling HD FORMAT title ever studios will begin to look at the format war differently.

A 33% market share is better than Apple ever saw in the OS format war.

Couple that fact with the hatred many of us have fostered over the years with all of Sony's failed proprietary formats (BetaMax, MiniDisc, UMD, Memory stick . . .etc.) and you have potential for a very protracted format war.

Even if BetaMax I mean BlueRay wins it may not be for years.
