Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)

So the A3 is going to be available on BF from Sears for $169...here's a question that came up on AVS Forum:

People were first saying get Best Buy or another store to pricematch the Sears or other store price on a BF deal. Of course the problem there is it'd be VERY YMMV, as chances are they won't pricematch a BF deal, especially if it's no longer in stock at the other store.

So somebody thought ok, why not buy it NOW at that store that will have the BF deal, then get them to match the price during the BF sale hours - no fighting with terrible very early morning crowds, just get there before the sale hours are up. If they don't want to adjust the price, either because it was a prior purchase or because they are now out of stock, return it! Now they are magically in stock again, and you can re-buy it at that BF price.

I'm thinking of things like TVs (ok, maybe that'd be kind of tough to return, but just leave it in the box until then?), DVD players (much easier to put it back in the box on the morning of BF), and other small appliances.

DVDs and video games would only be doable if you didn't open them, of course.

Can they really shoot you down if you return the item and want to rebuy it? It seems that if they did, it'd be against store policy and only because you were trying to pull one over on them. I can't believe most of the aggravated cashiers that day are going to put up a huge fight over it?

Thoughts?

I might try this with the A3. Worst thing that can happen is I return it on Black Friday and get my money back. :?:
I see two problems with this; In the last few years stores will not PM BF deals at all. You could try the whole Return and re-buy but you would have to do it during the sale and they might not allow it. Keep in mind retailers have the right not to take something back you might want to comb over the return policy first before setting out on this.

man that 360 HD-DVD/Heroes deal is sick as hell. even with my 360 broken its too good to pass up dear god......

hell i even got the target collector's DVD UNOPENED. youd think that would differ some of the cost....i just dont know anymore!

Well I went to Sears today then...they didn't have any A3s, but they had some A2s, and I was in need of some instant gratification. They price matched the Circuit City website, so I got an A2 for $200.xx after tax. Not too bad.

Yeah, this isn't the thread for that. This is for HD DVD DEALS!

Having said that, i've done this the last two years running at Best Buy- on DVDs and games, nothing huge like a TV, and its worked every time. I buy the item a couple days before and then go into the store during the BF sale time frame and they pricematched, no questions asked. It was always back to Best Buy, though, and a price match of their own ad. I didnt try to price match a CC BF ad at Best Buy. This year i'm in the market for a TV and will be looking at the BF Ads to price match again.

Quick question guys, does the WB store still have any promotional coupons for 20 percent off or free shipping like they used to?

Also do they charge your credit card when you pre-order a hd-dvd or when it ships?

first page has a 25% off code and free shipping over $50

i believe it expires on 10/31 tho

they put pending charge that disappears on pre orders

it comes back once a month or so

when it ships they'll charge you

i just got an email from my order telling me it was shipped after i received it

they need to work on that
Yeah, this isn't the thread for that. This is for HD DVD DEALS!
I had the A3 HD DVD PLAYER in mind, though. ;) I ended up getting an A2 yesterday anyways, so I'll wait and see what other deals come about, since I'd like to eventually have an HD player for the bedroom or den.
Good prices and great films. Too bad I haven't found a local Wal-Mart that carries HD DVD's
Are they going to carry the A2 for $198 starting Friday? Most stores are receiving a full shipper of these movies for the first secret sale.

Is there a site or anything with these deals listed on it? How long does this sale go on?

If those titles are available at the regular HD endcap in my Walmart now, could it be possible they are already on sale? The reason I ask is the other day they had a stockroom palate out in the electronics section full of HD-A2's (I think it was just for temporary shifting of product). I was curious and took one to a scanner and it did ring up as $198. So if that is on sale for that price now, I was wondering if the movies would be too.

They are but they are register locked.

Never heard about this movie but its currently $15.87 @ Walmart.com

EDIT:
While on a hiking trip to reconnect with his son, Ray Keene (John Cusack) stumbles into a nightmare scenario of paid assassins and ex-military guns-for hire. Frank Cardin (Morgan Freeman) is attempting to fulfill a contract to assassinate a high profile businessman when things go awry and he ends up in the custody of the U.S. Marshalls. After an ill-fated attempts by his compatriots to free him, Frank finds himself in the custody of ex-lawman Ray and his son (Jamie Anderson). As they try to make their way back to civilization they are relentlessly pursued by Frank's friends who are intent on freeing their leader in order to collect on the contract. But one may be more foe than friend.
Sounds pretty damn good, I might get it.

Also, added the Walmart sale to the OP...I'll update the title on Thursday night.

they'll ship movies from the wb store seperately I ordered the ocean trilogy and training day to get the free shipping and training day just arrived today

It's ok. It was direct to dvd, not in theaters. It probably isn't worth owning, but it's worth seeing.

my wm sucks to guaranteed they wont have this, how likely is it the walmart when I visit san antonio on the weekend will have these in stock? also just got my shipment notification from wb store although they did already deliver it so it didn't really help me out haha

Holy Crap! Those HD-A2 players are $98.87 at Wal-Mart this Friday. In for two! (gotta satisfy the fiance's parents)

:whistle2:s are you serious? Link/Source?????

damn...i guess i might not get the A3 after all...that is crazy for the A2...now i really wonder what kind of sales Black Friday may bring.
Am I missing something? It doesn't say the A2's will be $98 there, does it? All I see is the $348 Acer laptop?
It might be regional or it might show up later for you. Earlier all I saw was one gift open, now they're all open.
It might be regional or it might show up later for you. Earlier all I saw was one gift open, now they're all open.
I just had to clear my cache, since I was at the site before when only the Acer laptop showed up.

I wonder how many people will be there? Do that many people really KNOW about HD DVD? It doesn't seem like one of those things that the typical Walmart electronics shopper would know about.

I think I'm going to return my 2nd HD DVD that I bought with Heroes and 2 free movies...the hassle of going through eBay vs. getting a $98.87 standalone it just makes it easier.

wow that is crazy on the hd-a2. especially with the 5 free hd-dvd deal. that means a standalone hd player and 5 hd dvds for 100$. then sell my current dvd player for around $40. gotta pull the trigger on that.
These HD deals make it seem like the format is ****'ed. I OWN HD SO DONT FLAME ME. I'm just saying, first the 360 now the standalone.
No way in hell. The HD-A2 is discontinued, this is why it dropped in price, that and I'm sure its to compete with Blu-Ray. If anything, this is making other studios look into HD DVD a lot more since its way way way more affordable than a Blu-Ray player or a PS3.

Wow, now I'm debating if I should buy a 40GB PS3 or the HD-A2 on Friday.

Also, I don't see how making the format affordable is a bad thing.

The cheaper it is, the more likely for the format to get accepted.

good grief... a pre-black friday major sale on an HD-DVD set top unit?!?!?

I mean is there a difference between this model and the newer one? they all play all hd-dvds right? damn!! now if only we can get a 32 inch hd-tv to use it with for only 200 dollars, now that would make my day :)
