[/url]EDIT: I am now a Blockbuster Online customer. I have been VERY impressed with the service, with turn around time averaging 1-2 days. The free coupons make it an offer you shouldn't refuse.

Blockbuster online info:
3 rentals out at a time
2 free in-store game/movie rentals a month
Free first month, $15 each month thereafter

Just got this email from BBO.

As you know, Hurricane Wilma has left her mark along the Florida Coast. While the BLOCKBUSTER Online shipping facilities in both Tampa and Miami are operational, according to the USPS and due to circumstances beyond our control, you may experience delays in your DVD shipments for an undetermined period of time.

Also, keep in mind, should you choose to relocate to another address for an extended period of time, you can have your BLOCKBUSTER Online™ service redirected to another location. To change you address, simply click on the Shipping Address ( https://www.blockbuster.com/acctmgmt/updateShippingAddress.action) link in the My Account section of blockbuster.com.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via the Customer Service link at blockbuster.com.

Thanks,
Your friends at BLOCKBUSTER Online

Got my ecoupons today. Free game rentals are still available to me. So those questioning whether to subscribe, know that getting rid of free game rentals is not a widespread thing.

A little over 8 hours after signing up for Netflix today, I get an email from Blockbuster Online wanting me to re-join for only $1 for the first month. I couldn've saved $17 if I had received the BBO offer earlier. Damn-it.

i got back to blockbuster with the return to use for 1 buck for 1month deal......

joined thursday

got

4 brothers tuesday 2 day shipping (not bad)

still waiting

THE CAVE shipped friday today will be day 4
Red eye shipped Monday today will be day 3

blockbuster has also changed their REPORT dvd issues

it used to be if its not there by the EST date report it that day.. now its wait 3 days after EST date has past .... so they are saying Shipping can take between 2 to 6 days each way..... 2 week turn around would just suck

only reason i went back to BB is that we have another 2 video stores that take anyones coupons.. so i just print out each of my E coupon around 10 times
so each saturday i will take 2 coupons to 2 stores so its just like getting 3 movies out at a time (once i fall back to 1movie at a tiem deal for 10 bucks

bb 1 movie at time (plus using 2 coupons per week) 3 time = 10
Netflix 3 movies at a time = 18

so i figure by going back to blockbuster and using the hell out of those coupons im saving 8 per month...

2 movies had 2 day turn around each way..

Cave just got here today (took 6 days to reach me OUCH)

anyone know how often they give you coupons for free stuff

^ They give you coupons every month, but I've only gotten coupons twice for a free DVD (after being a member for almost a year).

On a side note, what's strange is that if I look at my plan details online, it says I get movie and game e-coupons, but if I were to sign up now as a new member, I would only get movie rentals, not games. I also pay a few bucks cheaper for the same plan (it was supposed to change in 2006, but it hasn't yet).

Blockbuster Online Unveils E-Coupon Choices

"Hi Stephen,

As a valued BLOCKBUSTER Online® customer, you're the first to know:

Now you have another choice for your free in-store rentals.

It's up to you. Continue with your two free in-store movie or game rentals monthly. Or, opt for one free in-store movie only rental coupon every week. That's double the in-store value! Your choice. First to know. Only from BLOCKBUSTER Online.

Thanks again for being a BLOCKBUSTER Online customer."

Personally, I'm going to stick with the two a month so I can keep my game rentals and the cheaper subscription price (I pay $14.99/month).

bbonlinenewplan19bp.jpg

Is anyone else still paying the old $14.99 rate? They still haven't raised it to $17.99 for me. Hey, not that I'm complaining. And they still give me game rentals, when most people don't seem to have them anymore.

man this sort of sucks cause i wonder if they are going to be changing the lower rate plans.... I was planing on dropping down to 1 movie per month for 9.99 and then using the hell out of the E coupons

I got around 10 places around my house that would take this coupons

so i can get 3 movies at a time (weekend) for 9.99 a month *by using the Ecoupons at the different video stores)

i think i will flop though... more people would go with the game route then the movie .

I'm pretty sure the game route is only an option for those who already have it. They want to get rid of all free game rentals, so if you don't have it already you can't get it. If you switch to weekly e-coupons, you can never get game rentals again. They are trying to force you to switch and slowly get everyone off of game rentals for good. Personally I will never switch until they physically make me. At that point, I will just cancel my subscription and send a complaint email. So if they want to keep a loyal member, they won't mess with my account.

slidecage - So, you can go to different Blockbusters and use the same e-coupon? I thought that this was not possible. I will have to try it.

I think he uses them at Mom & Pop stores that accept competitors coupons...right?

has anyones Blockbuster new releases ship this week yet

I got

SAW 2 and another movie that came out today BUT both say COMING SOON

they ususally ship new movies on monday??

I thought new movies don't come out until Tuesday?

I wouldn't know how Blockbuster deals with new releases, though, because I always have them at the bottom of my list. This way the movie I want is almost always available.

Those game rentals are what puts Blockbusters Online ahead of Netflix and GameFly. Without them I'd rather use those services.

last 3 weeks they been sending movies out on monday... they sent out monday i get them weds,,, put them back in mail Thursday and they get them saturday...

they must not got their shipment of movies this week .. BUT if come tomorrow all those movies jump to short or long wait there is going to MAJOR hell raised

The weird thing is that they have stopped sending me coupons every month for things like Buy 1 Get One Free used DVD. I don't think I've gotten them yet in 2006. Used to get them all the time.

BBO just sent me an email survey. The sad thing is I actually sent the movie back on Friday, the 10th, which isn't even a choice, but at least they are recognizing they have a problem with slow shipping.

We know receiving your movies quickly is important to you. It's important to us, too. That's why we need your input, and it will only take a moment. Your input will help us make continuing improvements to your delivery experience.

Please tell us when you mailed Crash back to us by clicking on the appropriate response below. Crash was received by us on Thursday, February 16th.

I returned the movie after Tuesday, February 14th.
I returned the movie on Tuesday, February 14th.
I returned the movie on Monday, February 13th.
I returned the movie on Saturday, February 11th.

seems there was a wherehouse late shipment that is why my movies didnt go out till tuesday... no big deal as both shipped and are already back to BBO (got them thursday and watched them both)

saw 2 and some stupid space movie zuather??

just signed up with bockbusteronline through cag. :)

now they finally decided to start shipping to apo addresses :)

5 out with netflix
3 out with blockbuster

:)

a lotta dvds coming my way every week hehe

Just an FYI, looks like BB will be bolstering their online service in an effort to get people back in the stores.

According to an online survey they just sent me, they are researching an enhancement that will allow you to return online rentals to BB stores, which would eliminate the day or two delay for the post office to notify BB that you shipped a movie back before sending out the next one. In addition, you would get a free in-store rental every time you returned an online rental in-store.

If they add this to the current free rental coupons, it's a great perk, particularly if you live close to Blockbuster.

the return to stores have been going on since 2005 in a beta program... a manager i talked to said that it would neve work cause people would return movies that are not to be returned (in the beta program people were returning 3 movies when only 1 or 2 was to go to the store and the other one was to go in the mail)

they have been researching it since Jan 2005 so dont get you hopes up its just another thing they said they are going to do to keep people with blockbuster.... for those who are interested ( TAKE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK)

there is a dude Selling 1 year of Blockbuster online 3 at a time (NORMAL PRICE 215 for 140) If you got one of those Ebay coupons lying around you can get it down to 126

i just got one off him last night (he says he has 4 of them )

1 Year of blockbuster online 3 at a time for 126 (breaks down to 10 per month or so) GREAT DEAL

Just got this email from BBO. They are raising my rate, but letting me keep the free game rentals (which are no longer offered to new members).

"As a charter member of BLOCKBUSTER Online®, your promotional rate of $14.99* per month was guaranteed through January 31, 2006, and as a courtesy, we've extended your special introductory rate an additional two months. Effective May 9th, 2006, your special introductory rate of $14.99* will no longer be available and the price of our three-movies-out plan will increase from $14.99* to $17.99*.

As an added benefit, we know your current $14.99* plan includes our signature free in-store coupons, redeemable for movies or games. While free game rentals are no longer available for new customers, we're pleased to continue to offer you both movie or game coupon redemption with the new $17.99* price."

Netflix sues Blockbuster to stop its online service

Well the future of Blockbuster Online is now unknown. Today it was announced that Netflix is suing Blockbuster. They claim they own two patents on the online movie distribution method and that Blockbuster has violated these patents. They've asked a judge to shut down BBO and for them to award Netflix monetary damages.

http://www.usatoday.com/money/media/2006-04-04-netflix-sues_x.htm

hmm...seems like they only want to sue because they're greedy and can't handle any competition...otherwise they should have brought up the suit earlier.

Anyway...the CAG link is cheaper month to month..however if you sign up in the store for BBO, it's 17.99 thereafter, but you a free in store rental every week. Instead of two a month.

CAG Link
- 3 out at a time
- 2 free in store game/movie rental
first month free/$15 thereafter

BBO purchase in store
- 3 out at a time
- 1 free in store rental a week (4 a month)
first month free/$17.99 thereafer

I don't have BBO, so I wouldn't know if the purchase in-store gives you just free movie rentals in-store, or movie & game rentals in-store.

Sorry if anyone already posted that...just a heads-up if not.

there is no way to put a patent on delivery..... hell the post office could sue UPS cause they are taking business away from the post office... netflix needs to get its head out of its own ass... Hell netflix is pissed off cause they lost a lawsuit against its own customers....

lets see why netflix is losing business

netflix movies here take 2-3 days each way with no coupons
BLockbuster movies take 2-3 days each with with 1 free coupon per week

Ummmm i take blockbuster any day over idoitflix LOL

That is incorrect and outdated information. First, BBO does NOT offer free game rentals to any new members. If you are already a long-time member that has always gotten them, you will continue to get them, but BBO will not be giving them to new members. Also, they have raised the price for the 3 out at a time plan to $17.99 (doesn't matter if you are a current member or a new member). Current members have an option to take away game rentals in order to get weekly instore movie rentals, but if you do that you will not be able to get back your game rentals. If you cancel your subscription you will also not be able to get them back.

In summary:

1) New members can NOT get game rentals. Current members who have them can keep them.
2) 3 out at a time plan has been raised to $17.99 for both current and new members.

Oh ok..I didn't know the CAG link was outdated or about the game rentals, thanx because I only know about the in-store promotion, because I work there.

yes, it is very outdated, but still a decent deal at $18 per month, since a while ago they changed it so you get 1 B&M rental per week.

That sucks the new members dont get the B&M rental coupons? If I stop the service, and then start doing it again in a few months will they no longer give me the one B&M rental per week, with choice of a videogame or dvd movie?

I dont play that many games, and the good games(the new releases) are almost always rented out so it is sort of pointless to bitch about no longer getting games.

They do have loads and loads of the new releases for rent tho. and that is nice

meh, i still believe family video to be a better outlet for movies... they let you have half off rentals per month for like 5 dollars/mo. Rentals there are already cheap, this just makes the deal sweeter.

I've been using Blockbuster online or over a year now, the service has only gotten better with time, unlike Netflix, who throttled me to death and never sent me new releases or Wal-Mart, who doesn't carry any of the unrated stuff like Sopranos.

Anyone having problems with them. i had them shipping very quickly but then come FEB 23 it seemed like my account froze. i have 110 movies in my Q and nothing has shipped since then. They have no clue why nothing is shippin and getting the same responce by email (ADD MORE MOVIES)

114 movies in Q and 86 of them are NOW (most are tv shows

Can't say I have a problem. I'm swamped with movies, especially with Total Access. It's almost overwhelming with how many rentals you get.

got to love how they take their phone off the hook right at 8am central (when they open) and put it back on the hook at 6pm central (when they close)

called up credit card company to put a hold on payments and they said they have reciced a lot of complaints in the last month about BBO interesting

FINALLY got ahold of them. they said there was about 100 accounts that the computer froze for some freaking reason starting on FEB 21 and nothing has shipped out (they dont know if it was a billing issue that cause this or what)

so they extended my account free till march 31 and said something should ship out Hopefully by saturday

At least nothing major new release movies came out this week so didnt miss out on anything major. and they said they send me 3 E coupons (i doubt that big time --- they said they send me 2 last weekend and i never got them)

so hopefully by Monday my account be fixxed

bread's done
