A few days ago i brought a game guide at TRU. Today I tried to return it, and they refuse. I told them there is nothing on their policy or recipt that mention anything about it being non returnable, and no one mention it at the time of purchase. Then they use some excuse on how they have "the right to decline or limit any return." So does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

So you return stuff to TRU all the time? There is a limit to the number of things you can return even with reciept...TRU reserves the right to refuse returns. You'll probably have to try that other TRU.

It really depends on how you read the word "most", but personally, I'd go there with a copy of the policy, and/or check your receipt for a return policy. It should be very clear.

As for returning too many times, I did one return this year and one return last year. Both were for some minor stuff.
They might felt I had the guide for too long, but the store polciy is 30 days on most product and 45 for video games/acc. I am within the limit of both dates. Heck at one time some guy returned like 6 or 7 sealed Nintendo DS and they didnt have any problem with that.

Serves you right for buying a guide in the first place... it's called gamefaqs and it's free, just avoid the message boards there at all costs.

There's not too many places that will let you return a guide. People don't use guides to play with. Guides are used for the information they provide and for the most part guides are only good for one small part where your stuck ina game and that's it. There's nothing saying that you can't return it. You just cant get yout money back. Game guides are in the "R" Zone and considered electronics and electronics it says "opened items can only be exchanged for identical item". I know they are open as they are but that also means that you could have looked through the guide first before you bought it. Sell it on eBay or give it away because you're just going to wast yout time tyring to get your money back.

Execpt the store didnt use that argument and just declined my refund without any logical reason.
I called the called Guest Relations toll-free number at 1-800-869-7787. I talked to the CSR and he thinks I should be able to retrun it. He did open a case number so someone will look into this.

I don't think any store lets you return strategy guides or even magazines. They are meant t be read and thrown away. Who knows that you didn't just read it, beat the game, now want money back? I think its 100% fair. Would you want to goto EB and buy a used game marked as new? No, everyone hear bitches about it.

If you want to really push your issue and used your credit card to pay :
1) Obtain WRITTEN AND SIGNED proof from toysrus that they refuse to take the guide back even through you are within the 30 day return frame. This is very important, it needs to be dated and signed that they refused it, with full name of who refused you.
2) Contact your credit card company, explain the situation, tell them you have written proof and want to contest your charge.
3) Your CC company will research the issue, since you have written proof of them refusing for no reason, they will deny the charge and remove it.
Result : toysrus is out of their money and you got a free guide.

No TRU will let you return a strategy guide unless you find a manager who is REALLY sympathetic to your case. It's like trying to return a newspaper at a grocery store.
