Hey, it's another Ebay thread by a disgruntled seller
I'm pretty sure eBay can't take the funds out of your moneybookers or paymate accounts. eBay owns PayPal, so that's the only reason eBay can do cases directly on their side and just take your funds. I'm pretty sure that they can open a claim directly up with moneybookers/paymate just like we used to be able to do with Paypal. Fortunately, these two companies actually read both sides of the argument unlike Paypal where if you get a claim, you pretty much lose.

Monkeybookers and paymate do hold money though. It really depends on your feedback and if you're a power seller or not. One uses a rolling reserve and the other uses a standard hold on the money for X amount of days.
eBay will just charge the credit/debit card (or PayPal account) associated with your account if you lose a dispute.

Ebay can charge you w/e the fuck they want, that doesn't mean shit. As long as they don't hold your money. Ebay is committing a slow suicide. The buyers have become shit because they know they could do w/e they want. Ebay wants to compete with the big box stores, but that ain't ever going to happen. Thats why they are pumping all this buyer protection bullshit. Ebay was founded on hard to find items , now you mostly have easy to find crap. You guys would do best in diversifying. Maybe post some stuff on ecrater which is 4th or 5th inline behind ebay amazon etsy.
Holy fuck. Imagine getting calls at 2 in the morning from some douche bag from Maldives because of a lost package.
Ha ha, joke's on him... eventually.
Hmmmm, eCrater. 100% free. Really?
Yeh but sales will be 70%-80% less at ecrater. Ebay/Amazon currently have their monopolies. So if enough people get pissed and move on sites like ecrater will grow faster.

Yeah I had the SAME exact issue (with a diff product) a while back. My product was worth $600 when I sent it to him though and came back worth $400 (New -> Used loss). I was fucking pissed. Especially because he had no ground for complaining other than he was an idiot.

I have also decided against selling anything on ebay. I purely use craigslist now.
Ha ha, joke's on him... eventually.
Had to google what you meant. Kind of sucks =/. The place is actually a beautiful place to visit. It's on my list of places I want to see one day.

These stories make me rage to no end just because I know the feeling of getting ass raped by eBay all too well. That site has WAY to many people who take advantage of eBays complete lack of logic when deciding disputes and just scam buyers constantly.

I'm so sick of selling to morons who want to "try" out games before they buy them. I'm not your own personal fucking Gamefly or Blockbuster service asshole. It's not my fault "the games not for you". You bought it, opened it, and played it, too bad.

I really hope this winds up working out to your benefit, but sadly, I don't see that happening.

I just love the morons on ebay. I sell something and in the description I say absolutely nothing about a memory card. After the person buys it they ask if it comes with a memory card. What kind of fucken moron buys something then asks questions. I swear this country is going down the shitter to many spoiled consumer morons, wait till they realize america is dead broke.

Oh God, those people.

:buys used PS2:

Them - "So uhh...does this come with one or two controllers?"

Me - "Just one. I clearly stated this in the description that it comes with the system, all cables to hook it up, and a single controller."

Them- "Oh, well in that case, I no longer want this. I'd like to get a refund."

Mind you, this scenario isnt as bad since the item hasnt been shipped yet, but still. Your inability to read should not cost me a sale.

ARGH...these threads make my blood boil as I wind up recalling my many, many negative experiences on eBay.
I may have to join in on this bandwagon, I sold a controller to a person in Canada and it hasn't arrived yet and they opened a case...without paypal even questioning me, they took the money out of my account. That really ticks me off, and it'll be the LAST time I ever ship to a Canadian. Most of them are so impatient, they always ask me like 3 days later when it'll get there, when they know good and well that it takes awhile to get there from the US. Especially from the Southern region.
I feel your pain, ='(

I have a funny story though, I bought a few virtual boy games from some guy in Canada. I waited around 3 1/2- 4 weeks before I contacted the guy that they never came. I forget the conversation we had but I told him I would wait 3 more. He assured me he shipped it and his feedback was good but I never got it. Lets go to the future from this incident around 3-4 years later. I get a phone call from my mom that I received a package from Canada, I'm like wtf Canada!?!?. I didn't order anything from Canada (since that incident I've avoided anything intl from Ebay). I go to pick it up and to my surprise, the 2 virtual boy games I bought from the guy. I don't know what happened or where they were held up, it didn't have any kind of tracking from what I could tell. I felt bad so I tried looking up the seller but it was so long the information was already deleted.

I know a lot of you are frustrated and I totally understand, but shit does happen!

Was it a PS2 game? When using the pre-filled information it used to say how many controller the game supported and if the game supported a memory card it would say this:
Memory Card: Yes (1)

I had a couple of buyers think that meant the game came with a memory card. One game was sold for $4, how can a buyer expect a game and a memory card for $4?

eBay pisses me off lately. I'm trying to sell my old cell phone, so I listed it on eBay. Got a nearly immediate buy it now purchase, which had me quite pleased. I looked at it and found that not only was it someone who had just signed up today and had no feedback, they wanted me to ship to Nigeria. Obviously a scam purchase. The thing that pisses me off however is the fact that I made sure to set the options to not allow purchases outside of the United States.

So, somehow despite my settings, someone was able to purchase my items, which means I now have something like $27 in fees that are sitting in my account that I have to wait til either the seller responds to the claim I filed (which seems highly unlikely to me), or a week passes with no response (which seems more likely). I'm sure as hell not paying the fees because eBay screwed up and let someone buy my item who shouldn't have been able to.

Also, here's a thought I had while filing the claim to cancel the purchase: why is there an pre-filled choice stating that the buyer wanted me to ship to a country that I didn't ship to, when there are settings to not allow them to buy to begin with? If it's such a problem that they needed to make this claim option, perhaps they should just fix their shitty system so that it doesn't happen?

If somebody like that had gotten the item, I would've told them that they could pay return shipping plus a restocking fee or they could go out and buy a second controller. :D
Honestly, we need a return to the good ol' yard sale. Ebay has completely screwed the pooch.

Is Amazon any better?
Amazon is what ebay is trying to model themselves more and more after. So I would say no.
I read the Ebay page too. If I sell something defective and it's not disclosed as such, no returns does not cover that. But, in all honesty, no returns means nothing. They need to stop pretending I can sell an item as is and refuse returns. You just can't, period.
Exactly. I was going to point out earlier that a "no returns" policy is not a way for you to sell damaged crap and get away with it, but I figured everyone knew that, so I didn't bother. But the reality is, eBay has gotten to the point that having a policy that does not include returns is pretty much pointless, no matter what. The buyer can pretty much do whatever they want.
Why not ship using UPS or FedEx when dealing with international buyers?
It's less that I have a problem with the shipping, and more that I don't want to deal with the people. I apologize in advance if this offends any international people here, but it's been my experience in the past that all international buyers are one of two things. They are either a) scammers trying to just take my product and leave me with nothing, or b) incompetent idiots who will bitch when the item doesn't arrive in Australia from Illinois in 2 days.

Now, I know that that isn't always the case. I know there are plenty of international people here on this site that are are perfectly honest and would be great to sell to. However, it's just not worth the extra hassle for the slight bit of extra money that I would make by shipping internationally.

No gamecube. I usually uncheck that "include information" box on my movie/game auctions, it's just useless clutter.

You have to change it in buying requirements. I had to contact ebay to find that out. Ebay fails to mention that it is absolutely pointless to set it on the auction page.

The Australians I have dealt with have been A+. But that is for non game related items, I don't sell games outside the US.

Side story I bought something nerf a few weeks ago, after 2 weeks I email seller. His reply "My printer doesn't work and my mom doesn't want to take me to the post office I'm only 14". Think to myself WTF. Ebay lets 14 have paypal accounts how low is that. I asked the kid to just issue me a refund , which he hasn't yet , keeps telling me he is going to ship it and I keep telling him just issue a refund already. I'm going to have to take it through their BS claims because I don't think the kid will issue a refund. fucken 14 on ebay you've got to be kidding me.

And here is some news I just came across. Turns out PAYPAL wants to fuck you on sales outside of ebay as well

"Etsy's new checkout uses PayPal's Express Checkout. Merchants on Etsy and other off-eBay venues are concerned about PayPal's extension of its buyer protection policy, which is similar to eBay's program. Buyers using PayPal are currently covered for Items Not Received, and beginning in November, they will also be covered for items received but significantly different from what was described by the merchant ("Significantly Not as Described," or SNAD). "

This is why I hate eBay. Crap like this. Well, I've set up those options and had it apply to my current auction, so hopefully that'll cut out the crap. I had previously set that option in the auction, but I guess it didn't work or something. Oh well. At least the message I received from the buyer was amusing:
Hello how are you feeling today hope all is well with you i am letting you know that i am buying this item for my kid that is schooling in west Africa Nigeria as a birthday gift ok i wont you to send me your PayPal account ID so i can make Payment now

Thanks and God bless U
Sure dude, I'll get right on that.

Why not research the costs? UPS and FedEx rape you on shipping internationally and they always charge the buyer a shit ton in customs fees because they act as the mediator or something like that. Shipping VIA UPS/FedEx overseas will just result in negatives and overpriced shipping.

I know it's relatively "expensive," but they're the ones paying, not me (although I technically wind up paying for it up front). Whenever someone asks if I'll ship to their country (like Canada), I'll tell them that I will only if they agree to pay the full cost of shipping and any fees, and get a quote from UPS before sending the invoice. Last item I sold (N64) to a buyer in Canada cost about $65 to ship (got there in 3 or 4 days), and I think the guy had to pay like $90 in fees when it got there (from what he said). Guy left me a positive the same day he got it.

So, I got the camera back. Even the original packaging. The camera is undamaged, and of course works as perfect. I checked out some of his test videos he shot, and there is some seriously ugly wife/sister/family member in the videos.

Honestly, I think he got pissed because he was shooting videos in a poorly lit room and thought the camera was crap. Uhh, no, you bought a 50 dollar digicam. It isn't going to be great. (and honestly, PQ isn't that bad, seeing as though I'm stuck with it, I'll probably start using it)

It pisses me off that Retard Is Retarded, Retarded Retard lies about camera being a SNAD, and Retarded Retard gets every penny back. It boggles my mind that Ebay can do this to a huge portion of their customer base, but what boggles my mind more is that people put up with this. I never thought I would think this, but I feel bad about the career Ebay sellers. Their life must be complete shit.

I should take a screen cap of an unflattering frame of his wife from the video and send it to him with a note that says,

Your wife looks like a horse.

I also think the non-paying bidder situation has gotten worse lately since there is basically no real penalty. It seems like more and more often idiots bid on an item the very last second only not to buy it. Sellers can be screwed for no reason on eBay but when it comes to buyers they can do pretty much whatever they want with no recourse.

Bring on the pic, by the way.

what a story. sorry friend of sonic. Amazon recently put my seller account \"under review\". they asaid that i was selling too much and not getting enough feedback. um, what? they are holding 1077 dollars of mine because i sold too much, have a 99% rating with 1 nuetral feedback, no negatives, and have no chargebacks or anything. bitches.

DUDE WTF?!?!? It's a shim!!!!!! I would have returned the camera too if it made my transexual partner look like that!!!!!!!

LMAO.... It's time to make that Craigslist ad with this pic included.

Ebay is a complete piece of crap these days. I sat on hold for 3 hours one night to argue about the fees on my account and that they were for items that people never paid for that they yanked my listings on. Ebay claims they will stick the $20 on my account to compensate but to give it 24 hours for it to show up. Guess what it never does and every single time I go to their chat there is a several hour wait to talk to someone. This is the 3rd time they have said they would credit me money and never did. I took all the money out of my paypal account and then informed my bank that I want 0 electronic drafts coming out of my bank. Figure I'll see how bad they want the $50 bucks I owe them in fees because they'll have to contact me to get it and their gonna get an earful when they do.
That\'s insane. You will eventually get your money back, but, that\'s insane. You could always open a BBB report.
they said that i had to message my buyers and ask for feedback. i have sold 300 items exactly and have only 79 feedback in one year. they said i am under review and i can still sell, but they will take about 30 days to review my account. during this time, i can\'t request my funds. when this happened, i only had about 800 on hold by them. i\'m hoping they decide everything is ok and they let me be and continue to sell after this review is over. i would hate to go back to ebay. does anyone have any idea whats going on with my situation.

Guess what!! You are F'd!!!!

This exact thing happened to me in August. They put my account under review for 30 days. The INSTANT the 30 days came up they banned my seller account. Amazon is now holding $3100 of mine until January 3rd. If I were you I would stop selling on there IMMEDIATELY. You are just going to lose inventory and shipping without getting anything for at least 3 months. I will also warn you that the ODR can NOT be above 1%. This is literally an insane number for used items. If you continue to sell during the review period and you get 1 problem out of 100 items, they will block your account permanently.

I posted about it in the Amazon service going to the shitter thread. The title is something to that extent.

If you want to spend $15+ to ship an item overseas, go for it. Still no tracking and with ni tracking, buyer will always win with Paypal.
Never, ever ship to anywhere from the USA. No tracking= guaranteed to lose all your money.
Yeah. I just got screwed on eBay, yet again. Some guy bought 2 items from me. I shipped them to Canada and my tracking doesn't show "delivery," but it shows that I sent them. He opens up paypal dispute, waits 3 weeks and wins it.

GG $72.

Oh well... That's the shit I deal with for even selling internationally or dealing with eBay. There really is no other choice for selling though. At least on eBay, I sell stuff. On Amazon, I just get negatives from disgruntled sellers. Out of the 200+ items I've sold there, I have gotten 3 feedback. All of them were 1/5 stars. Quite annoying, to be honest.
If you want to spend $15+ to ship an item overseas, go for it. Still no tracking and with ni tracking, buyer will always win with Paypal.
Why wouldn't there be any tracking? This past month alone, I've received packages from Canada (FedEx, got here the next day) and Hong Kong (DHL, got here in three days), and both had tracking information.

Also, the buyer is the one that pays for shipping, not the seller.

Appeal denied. They said since they can't see the item, they have to side with the buyer. They say the solution is fair because I get my item back that I can relist and the buyer gets their money back. I like how they don't factor in the fact I paid shipping for no reason or that the item is not worth as much now that it is opened. And I bet anything they didn't refund my fees I paid when I sold the item. That would be the cherry on the top of this shit sundae.

So now I have to wait on the BBB report. They're looking into it now. Maybe someone that gives a shit from Ebay will respond to the BBB.
