And not that it's much of a threat considering their overall fiscal health, but I would like to inform the actual HollywoodVideo customer support staff that because of this experience, I won't be stepping foot in one of their stores ever again (and by "ever", I'm referring to the likely 2-3 months they'll remain in business, haha)
I can't say that. If they do the $4.99 video game sale, I'll be back. And I haven't had as bad of luck as most of you guys have. So far I have received 13 of the 14 movies I should have received, though I still have quite a few more coming, so we will see how that goes.

Well I was going to log in and see if it shows anything about my refund on the account thing online and was greeted with this lol not going to log in now.

NO fuckING WAY!!! I just tried logging in, and yeah...it says it couldn't find an account connected to that email address. I'm hoping this is just some kind of database error that occurred from an update, and that they haven't completely screwed hundreds of people over. If it plays out like that, I'm sorry...but I'll go out of my way to fuck Hollywood Video over.

I thought they weren't supposed to have weekend hours anyway (since they're only obligated to respond to customer service inquiries on business days). This is almost beginning to approach ECA levels now. Some online media outlet has to get ahold of this. 3rd party or not, customers are getting scammed directly through www.hollywoodvideo.com. That has to reflect poorly on the company.

Well I just tried to log in and it says my account no longer exist. Checked the blu-ray.com forums and it looks like it is happening to everyone. Thank goodness both of my orders shipped out next week. Hopefully I actually get what I ordered but going by what has happened to everyone else I don't think I will. I had a feeling that this deal might be too good to be true.

I've read in a few places that a decent amount of orders have been given one tracking number, but come in multiple packages because some of the discs are coming from different warehouses.

Numerous times have I seen people comment on not receiving all of their discs, then receive a second package with the remainder of their order.

What are you a shill for them? They told me I won't be getting the blu's that weren't in my package that I ordered and they would issue a refund as 'no replacements could be found' same thing they told others. And low and behold I've still yet to receive any refund.

haha yes, I'm a shill because I'm pointing out something I've heard from other people on multiple occasions

Well no real offense but you just joined today and from every other forum I've read people receiving a second package for the same order is speculation. No one has provided two separate tracking numbers to verify this and people have confirmed Hwv telling them they won't get the other discs and will receive a refund.

A few posters on DVD Talk noted that only one package in the order was given a tracking number but that they received the completed order via more than one package because of where it was being shipped from.

Take it with a grain of salt I suppose, but none of those people had any reason to fabricate their story.

We'll just have to see I guess.

That's fine. But if it were true, they could have indicated that on the invoice, or with an update email, or the very least, have responded to this email I sent:

Hi, I received my order today (Order ID# XXXXX), and of the five items that I was charged for and that appear on the packing invoice, only two were in the envelope. These are the five items I ordered (items in bold are items I DID NOT receive).

The Day After Tomorrow [Blu-ray]
Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay (Unrated Special Edition) [Blu-ray]
I Love You, Man [Blu-ray]
Coraline (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy w/ 3D)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall [Blu-ray]

I realize that sometimes items ship from different locations, but nowhere on the invoice does it specify if these items are being shipped separately. The invoice gives the appearance that they should have all been in the envelope. I would greatly appreciate it if you could sort this matter out for me. Needless to say, I was disappointed when more than half of my order was missing.
I've been trying very hard not to jump to conclusions or be a brash customer because this is the exact kind of stuff I hated people doing in the GoHastings thread. But it's fairly apparent that SOMETHING is up here.

And having HWV essentially say "it's not our problem" because they outsourced these sales is a copout. You're still buying them from hollywoodvideo.com. If this had been joesvideoshack.com, people would have been far more skeptical of movies at these prices. But ordering from a big name gives the deal credibility.

I tried to place an order today for one movie and could not get past the checkout process due to some HTTP error. Maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't be doing business with this company considering the web site seems broken.
A few posters on DVD Talk noted that only one package in the order was given a tracking number but that they received the completed order via more than one package because of where it was being shipped from.
That could explain why at least for me I didn't get any tracking info on one order that showed "SHIPPED" status prior to the web site's latest mess up.

I got my first two of three orders today. Ratatouille, The Dark Knight, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. They're all in excellent shape. Benjamin Button is missing the slipcover and the inserts, but otherwise, fantastic condition.

The whole website is just FUBARED

No accounts exists but then if you try to make one it says "that email already belongs to an account"

So now you have to check out as a guest. But that don't even work. Tried placing an order twice and on the final page after entering CC info it just gives some stupid error. These are the most ignorant morons I have ever seen.

On a side note does anyone know if all these same movies are only $6.99 in store or is this thing online only ???

Online only.

On that note my order from 2/24 just arrived today. It came in no less than two packages both originating from Vancouver, WA. Four of the DVDs badly need to be scratch repaired. Otherwise everything came complete.

According to bmvtoys on the DVDTalk forums checkout is working again. I just tried to log on to my account which still pops up the infamous "account doesn't exist" message. I think this movie cover best depicts how most of us feel right now about Hollywood Video in general... well at least the women screaming on it does.

even slower than before.. yippee

Some mighty fine dorito chip processors their servers are running. Takes 20 minutes just to get a white screen. Is there any wonder they are going out of business? I say bon voyage.

hmmm interesting I had it sitting at the http error and just hit submit order again. It charged me. Gave me no screen saying they were ordered and no email confirmation lol.

by gads I think I just lost 11 bucks lol

3 of 4 orders have been shipped and received. Of course my first and largest order has yet to ship. They already have the $40, I just want my movies.. :whistle2:| The 3 orders I have received have been in excellent condition fortunately. One even included the $0 Quantum of Solace, hooray!

EDIT: I'm able to log into my account, but the orders page states I have not ordered anything. Even typing the order number and destination zip code without logging in yields nothing.

just received my order from 2/25, i got casino royale, departed, and crank high voltage. All blu ray cases, disks perfect except for fingerprints. only 1 disk with each, not sure if there was supposed to be more

Well, I just received my 2nd order from 2/16. A little better this time. 7 of the 9 items were included. And for the two that weren't, "missing" was written on the invoice, along with "item will be refunded". As long as this actually takes place in a timely manner (and that they'll do it for my other missing items as well), I'll be satisfied.

They still need to do a TON of work to the website though. In addition to making if faster, the inventory system needs a lot of work. It's weird because it does seem to have limits on it already.

I tried putting two of a certain movie in my cart, and it wouldn't allow it, stating "there is not enough stock to fulfill the quantity you are requesting". So, they at least seem to have SOME idea of how much product they have. Unless they're pulling from store stock (ala Hastings), it's strange that their estimates are so off.

Deal alert guys. You can get a used, almost certainly rental copy, of Just My Luck with everyone's favorite former star Lindsay Lohan for only 99.99. Get on this now before those SD bastards buy them all up. You could get a new one for only 15.49, but that is well under my price point. Added bonus, you may just end up paying HWV $100 dollars for nothing. Though in this case that may be preferable.

Nice! I don't think I'd pay $100 to fuck Lindsay Lohan these days, haha :)

i've placed four orders so far, and only my first 2 have been shipped out so far. i received the 2nd order today, crank high voltage, and it came in mint condition in original case. the tracking number for the first order still says "Electronic Shipping Info Received," as it has for the past couple of days. here's to hoping all 4 orders come and i get all of my movies!

USPS's tracking system isn't really the best. A number of times I've had it say that right up until the package was in my mailbox.
I placed an order for Brothers Bloom, but got no email afterwards...here's hoping I actually get it.
I wanted to order that, but when I went to checkout, Firefox told me that it didn't trust the connection, so I got out of dodge. Let us know how it goes.

I got my 4 movies yesterday. Year One, Sarah Marshall, St Anna, and Love you Man. All 4 looked brand new, just not sealed. The strangest thing though, 3 of the four cases had the top stickers still on the case (slit down the middle). All of them read "Year One BD."

Got my first order yesterday.

Both of the discs were in great condition, outside of a few fingerprints on one of them.

My second order from 2/26 has also shipped.

EDIT:

I didn't realize the 2 disc was the DVD, and everything was included on the single :br: disc.

Got my refund today on the missing blu's also received yesterday three blu's although I almost got mad as I ordered National treasure 2 and they sent National Treasure but disc inside was correct for NT2. Also received new sealed copy of the Patriot this morning, nice to see them working things out. Hope everyone else gets their orders/refunds fixed as well.

Got my 30 movie order today, they all came in one large box. Everything was there except that I got harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire instead of Sorcerer's Stone. I did receive all 5 discs with Blade Runner, though only 1 disc in both Bolt and Forbidden Kingdom. Not too upset about it all, though I am hoping to get the correct HP movie sent to me.

I wish theyd add some new stuff without everything dissapearing before I see it. I really want some Blu's

I finally heard back about my order from them.
I emailed customer service twice and got no where.
Today I filled out the web form and got a reply back within a few hours of "It is being processed" and my account being closed will be looked into.

So if you are feeling aggravated try the online question form and put "ecommerce" in the "Product" section.

Here is a link to the form:

i got a repsonse from them on an email that was known as a backup email
it said Hi, Yes from our records it says that both of your orders have been shipped as of 3/1/10
Didn't tell me what blus or dvds shipped and no tracking numbers for anything
I am assuming its going to be chocolate blu and then better tomorrow trilogy on dvd but it also could be wall-e on blu as well

fuck!!!

I had Across the Universe, Madagascar 2, Surfs Up, and a few Harry Potter movies in my cart and I got errors trying to check out. Refresh and theyre gone..Man is this annoying

I just got an email telling me it's being shipped with a tracking number. It's not in the USPS system yet, but we all know how great their website tracking is, so I'll let you know when/if it actually gets here

My order was complete (9 for 9). One movie (The Punisher) was still sealed. Only real complaint, and it would be a nitpick, is that Coraline shipped without 3-D glasses.

My order just arrived and I had a rather large order consisting of about 30 movies. Everything was shipped in one box and everything was in amazing condition. Just like other people I did get a few movies that only had one disc instead of the 2nd disc for the download but that doesn't bother me at all. The cases were in great condition and the movies were great as well. There was a few finger prints on the movies but that was pretty much it. I also got 2 movies that were Rental versions, I am not sure if that means they are missing any content but the rental version's were for Taken and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. If anyone knows what the difference might be I would love to know.

I don't even know who you guys are checking out for orders anymore. I'm still getting the infamous "We're sorry, but we cannot locate an account connected to that email address. Please try again, or click the link below to open a new account" message.

Uncommon titles in stock right now: Tyson, Obsesses, The House Bunny, Crank, The Spirit, Revolutionary Road, Talladega Nights, Vantage Point, 21, Jumper, Sky Crawlers, 27 Dresses, BH Chihuahua, Seven Pounds, Transporter 3, Cadillac Records, Sex Drive, Lakeview Terrace, Body of Lies, Appaloosa, Righteous Kill, Mr. Brooks, Hairspray, Alvin+Chipmunks, Gone Baby Gone, Across the Universe, Click, Shoot 'Em Up, Happy Feet, Brothers Grimm, King Arthur, Alien v. Predator, assorted Saw movies.

dang it, had crank in my cart but when i tried to check out, the site was soo slow and then it sold out. i got crank 2 in the last batch, but i want to see the first one first.

Received my 3rd order today (placed 2/23). Getting better, Hollywood. 11 for 11. Some were missing digital copy discs, and I'm starting to suspect they had to get new cases for all of these because most of the artwork is off center, and all 2 disc movies come in 3 disc cases. Considering most of us were expecting plain DVD cases in the beginning, it's surprising they'd go the extra mile like that.

Other than some communication issues and work on their website (and some refunds I still haven't received), the deal isn't too bad. It can be a bit of a crapshoot and tends to feel like a total free for all, but depending on what you actually receive, the prices are great!
