Tip of the hat to zoro69 for this one. Didn't see a thread for it, and it's big enough to merit its own thread so people don't miss it.

Zellers is currently having a 2/$30 sale, ending on the 30th. Normally this isn't news, since they stick to clearance titles for sales like this, but there are some big names in it this time, including Far Cry 2. I had a hard time believing this, even after seeing photos of a receipt, but I just got back from my lunch break where I picked up Far Cry 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for PS3. They were both locked up and labeled as $59.99. When they rang them up, the total came to $30. This only happened after both games had been scanned and totaled.

Nice! I'm planning on hitting Zellers tonight on my way home from work. The one I was able to check on the weekend didn't have much of anything, nor the other stuff I went in looking for. Hoping I'll have better luck at a different location.
 
So, what's the entire list on the eligible games? From what I can tell from here and the thread linked it's:

Far Cry 2 on PS3/360
Warhawk for PS3
Motorstorm for PS3
End War for PSP
Brothers in Arms for PS3
R6 Vegas 2 for PS3
 
Anyone try with games that aren't those listed? I'm kind of curious to see if other big name titles are available.
 
Actually, I'm really curious if No More Heroes is eligible, because if it is, this would be the greatest deal in months for me.

@ No One: No More Heroes was indeed in the 2/30 bin at Zellers,

...along with a few other decent games such as The Club, Condemned 2, and Sega Rally Revo. No sign of FC2 or R6V2 at the store I went to - in fact, those games were specifically listed with sale signs on them in the case. I'm pretty certain that this is total YMMV, and has just been a mistake in a few Zellers stores, with clerks confusing Far Cry Wii and R6V1, (which were also bargain binned) with their newer couterparts.
 
It worked. I got BIA:HH and R6V2 for 2/30$

hell, for 15 bux for far cry 2, ill bite, and skip out on KZ2.

but ... there's no other game that i would want :/....

You could buy two copies of Far Cry 2 and put one up for trade/sell on the CAG forums. Obviously priced according;)
 
Would scanning these with a price scanner show up as $15 each? or do you have to go up to the cash? I hate awkward situations, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Last time I checked No More Heroes was $9.96 at The Source, I picked up a copy in December. Stock is usually low though.

I just say a friend told me these games were on sale can you scan them...
It solves most awkward situations and most cashiers gladly do it :)

Works every time (not that there is anything wrong with getting somebody to check a price, I did it all the time at Best Buy when I worked there).

even if i do, i can't sell the game but locally, which kinda sucks.

im thinking of getting RSV2, i have the first one, (never played it) but still, looks like a good game :D

but the main focus here is Farcry 2, which must be awesome!!!
 
Just for the record, I meant priced accordingly as in $15 + tax + shipping + a little effort, not $40-$50 like the goofs on kijiji or Craig's list
 
I just got two copies of Far Cry 2... Told the cashier a friend got it from another city and ask if she would scan it in for me. The register said $39.99 each (regular price) on the screen but the total at the bottom said "33.90 (you save 49.98)".

I already had R6V2 otherwise that would be a great game to pair with this deal. Was hoping to find No More Heroes but not in stock.

Farcry 2 should come up at 39.99 reg 15.00 sale. R6V2 for Xbox360 and Motorstorm Pacific Rift is apparently not in the promotion as I just came back from Zellers. It might just be the PS3 version of Vegas that's part of the promotion. I never checked though cause the guy that was helping me decided to give me the 360 version at the promotion price.

I hate awkward moments asking too. But I thought I'd try. I had to goto two stores to get my games though. First store the guy absolutely refused to check for me even when I asked if he could just ring them through and see. He said it was only the dump bin games and wouldn't budge from behind his counter. Second store the guy was really nice and checked. Farcry 2 (360) was part of the promotion but R6V2 (360) wasn't but he said he'd give it to me for 15 anyways. He said they're supposed to have a list with the games but he couldn't find it anywhere.

If you're in the Edmonton area I went to the Kingsway store to get my games. Northwood store wouldn't help me. Apparently retail now means that you only want to sell stuff if its not a bother for you. I thought you wanted to move as much of your merch as possible but I guess I was wrong.
 
Yeah I meant $30 each... the Far Cry might have been 40...

Maybe the cashier did a price check and not a standard bill. Guess I'll go check another Zellers tomorrow.
 
Jest, go to the one in Ancaster.
I promise you that Far Cry 2 IS 100% 2/30 (I got it for 360).
The guy at Ancaster was wonderful. He was more than happy to take games out of the cage and check prices. It was the first time somebody who was an ACTUAL HELP was working at Zellers.

It should still work!
As long as you get 2 games that are eligible, it will work. RSV2 for 360 just wasn't part of the sale.

If they posted a list it wouldn't include Far Cry 2 or another other "good" game.. that's a definite error. The clerk I got mine from said the electronics manager just went through and pulled out all the games on the list and put them into the bin. Yet FC2 was still behind glass.
 
Quite possible that it is an error since Farcry 2 seems to be the only game over $30. But could also just be a loss prevention issue. Willing to lose some games to theft but no others.

Here they've got the whoe bin on edge now, so its easy to see only crap left (bunch of PSP endwar), never seen the game section there look so neat.

The glass cases are half empty, went from so much stuff stacked in the bottom you couldn't see piles of the titles they had to looking bare. There is 360 R6V2 in the case so I wondered if that one didn't count.
 
I picked up two copies of Farcry 2 today, they were behind the glass and the woman didnt believe me that they were 2 for 30, she scanned the one and said nope, doesnt qualify and started to put them away, i told her to scan both and so she reluctantly did and it showed the 2 for $30, she really didnt want to give them to me, she looked like she was going to get in trouble or something.
