Home Run Derby! Season Winners Announced!
I've put a little section in the OP about this, just under the list.
i see. thats a good rule. thanks again briansraregames for running this contest
confused on ti breaker... hows it work? The RBIs driven in with each homer? The teams rbis for the day? Or that players rbis for the day?
It's the number of RBIs by the players on your team for a given weekend. So for your team, Howard had 1 RBI on Saturday, Hall had 1 RBI on Saturday, and Griffey had 2 RBIs on Sunday.
tis a marathon, not a sprint...you're #1 on the season.
This big fat zero practically ruins my chance of being #1 overall for the season.

Actually, how many weeks are you intending to do this?

The contest will run until the end of the regular season, so if you pick your teams right and get on a hot streak, it's really anyone's game to win.
Hopefully I'm in this week.

And I'm assuming the $100 prize goes to the winner at the end of the season?
I'm thinking about taking everyone who wants to play this week just to see how it works out(Minus the bottom 10 from week 3)...I just hope I can get some variety in the teams.

And, yes, the $100 goes to the team with the most HRs through the whole season.

Ill be in this week after my disppointing showing in week 1.
players

1. Manny Ramirez
2. David Ortiz
3. Vladimir Guerrero
4. Paul Korneko
5. Vernon Wells

Thanks
sounds good to me...would there still be a limit to the number of participants? and if so is it first come first served?
I'm inclined to let in anybody who wants to play. My only concern with that is the teams may become too similar, making it impossible to break ties fairly. You guys have any thoughts on that issue?

as long as you don't mind the work of having that many teams I would like that idea. Honestly I don't have a problem with the way it is though.

As far as breaking ties, maybe if the players team won give an extra point in the tie breaker and still consider the RBI's.

Or maybe just add up there hits on the weekend. If a guy went 5-10 over the weekend give him 5 points. Then if you are still tied go to RBIs.

i have no problem taking risks and personally would prefer to keep it to the teams i actually plan on watching such as picking players from the Mets-Phillies series this weekend and/or the yankee series as well..

i dont know what can be done to keep everybody from picking from the pool of the same 10 players though

MAJOR UPDATE:

OK, we're going to try it like this for a while and see how it plays out:

1. Anybody can play who wants to play. Even if you were in the bottom ten from the week prior.

2. You may now select any player you like for your team, however, there are some new resrictions

i. You may only have one player from the top 5 HR hitters on your team
ii. You may only have two players from the top 10 HR hitters on your team.

The list of restricted players will be updated on tuesday of each week.

3. Ties will now be broken in the following way

i. The amount of RBIs collected by the players on your team in a given weekend
ii. Each CAG participant will also need to give a guess to how many TOTAL home runs will be for that weekend, this will now be tie breaker #2.
iii. Coin Flip

Alex Rodriguez - NYY
Miguel Cabrera - FL
Vlad Guerrero - LAA
Alfonso Soriano - CHC
Albert Pujols - STL

Tie Breaker 32 HR for the weekend.

PS, Thanks Again Brian

Total Weekend HRs: 61

Though since you have a tibreaker scenario listed in the rules section, why is the purpose of the total HR guess?

Not to nitpick, just clarify.

Tiebreaker 2 (HR's total) is for the weekend, correct?

OP says week. definately will change my guess if for the week.

Not that I'll be in the running with my 0 from week 2 :D

PS, you have two tiebreaker 2's in the op.

Yes, tiebreaker 2 is your guess as to how many total HRs will be hit in a given weekend in all of major league baseball, not just your team.

Well, we almost had a tie last week with the first tie-breaking scenario. I just don't want determining a weekly winner to come down to a coin flip.
