Homeland Security Dept. and Patriot Act in action...

The gay marriage thing can actually go either way with me. I just think that the whole purpose of marriage is to receive benefits like tax breaks, while giving something back to the community in the form of children. Gays cannot have children. Why should they be allowed to leech while giving nothing back? Plus you can help being gay. It isn't like they are forced into the situation. Nobody is born gay.

God, you're still a terrible troll, 'Frodo. Didn't I tell you in the Linux thread that you need to stick with one tactic and not try to split your attention?

In any case, we'll pretend you're being serious for the sake of me asking you if you'd be cool with someone calling the cops in your area and sending them to your address on the false assumption that you were doing something wrong, something like having Arab-looking guys going into your house and strange hours and coming out carrying suspicious looking parcels. I mean, your home address is easy to find online, it could just be some asshole who doesn't like you, for whatever reason, like with the guy in this story. You'd still get hassled and probably held in jail as material witness, until they were certain you weren't dealing with terrorists, probably no more than a year. You'd be fine with that, right?
Israel isn't an Arab nation? What is it then??
Israel, a jewish country, full of palestians and Jews. The UN gave the Jewish people theirown country back in 1948, so the rest of Europe would stop perscuting them and comitting genocide every couple decades or so.

Frodo. Look. You are not well-informed. It's very obvious. You have been making tons of mistakes that anyone with an acceptable level of education or even using a google check would not make . I ask that you just stop posting here in this thread and read up more about it before you post again. Your arguments have been dismantled on 6 seperate occasions throughout the thread. You seriously don't want to have an open mind on this issue or even consider that maybe you don't have all the answers. You're arguing with emotion which always makes you argue bad.

Take it from me, a resident New Yorker with ties to the Fire Department. Alot of us are displeased with the whole Iraq issue, since it has taken away from the true hunt of the real preptrators of 9/11. We're disgruntled with the way that the current presidency has handled everything and we've felt at times that they follow their current course of action to protect themselves and to enrichened their friends. They do nothing to avenge or even bring justice to the murders. I did not vote for the current administration, but I was prepared to give him a chance because that is the kind of man I am. His actions after 9/11 hanged himself. He currently sells a picture of himself at the 9/11 disaster site for fundraising purposes. He makes money off those who died in New York. It makes most people upset, here it boils our blood.

But back to the topic on hand, Profiling people due to their nationality is stupid. It's a huge fucking waste of time and never succeeds in capturing a group in action. How lucky do you have to be to cold catch a group just because you are checking guys wearing turbans? Most Terrorists don't wear turbans. Most guys with long beards are not islamic. I should know. I get watched and stopped all the time, even though I am not Islamic or of Arabic descent.

Oh, Frodo, marriage and a good portion of its benefits are not for raising kids. Should the marriage rights you describe be taken away from couples who don't want to raise kids or cannot have any children due to physical imparment? The benefits you describe are commonly known as dependent benefits. You can get those for people who are your kids even if you are not married and such. People shouldn't get married to have kids. They should get married because they love each other and want to have a legal, prefreably a lifetime connection to each. Children should be born as a result of that love. The reason why we give benefits to married people is because as a society, we are stabler when people are in longterm monagamous relationships and we wish to acknowledge that their love is accepted within society. The second reason is why I cannot expect gay marriage to succeed in the next 5 years. Americans are just not ready for the idea. However, I feel as a society, we would be better off letting homosexuals pair off and be productive members of society, than let a growing discontented group of people get frustrated and angry with being sub-human. Shit, that's how you get terrorists. Hmmmmm....

Oh god, I just read Frodo's blog.

He's the kind of person who will use nigger in casual conversation. I hereby call bigot and will no longer argue out my position with him.

Oh Frodo, you know that the reason you're not working as much is in part due to the shitty economy caused by our involvement in the Iraqi war.
I want everyone to look up a country called "Liberia". It is an african nation that was founded by black slaves in the US who went back to africa after they outlawed slavery. Right now we are fighting a secret war to help them to rid themselves of there dictator leader named "Charles Taylor" I think his name is.
Hey buddy, that's old news. Plus, I'm not sure how 'secret' our involvement there is, considering it was all over the international news media when it came to a head about a year ago.
You have no idea how many wars we do fight. We fight many secret wars. If anyone listens to a band called System of a Down, they are very politically active, you would see this stuff goes on all the time.
Ha ha. This is good. You get your political info from a ROCK BAND?!?! Whoa. News flash: System of a Down are ARMENIAN, like me. I'm sure you don't hate Armenians because they are mostly Christians (unlike 'arabs' who need to be taught a 'lesson'), but I can assure you that Armenians are a lot closer to the 'arab world' than you'd probably like to think. And BTW, you cannot argue this with me; it is my heritage and I've been there. Look it up on a map; you'll be surprised at where your R n' R news source is from. 8) By your rationale, SOAD should be arrested for taking the picture of the HOLLYWOOD sign that they altered and used on thier last album; did the police in hollywood not think that those darker-skinned 'minority' Armenians' might be planning to blow it up?
There are many other arab nations than Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, and Israel. Saddam could have hidden the WMDs in any one of those nations. I bet you never heard of Uzbekistan or Tarjekistan (SP?) have you? Plus we aren't going after Saudi Arabia because that is were all the oil is.
yeah. Israel would love to be called an 'arab' nation. whew.

The issue that you're a huge troll?

I think its funny the enlightened and better than us amongst us don't know where Armenia is. I mean, doesn't everyone know it's next to Spatula City?
I think its funny the enlightened and better than us amongst us don't know where Armenia is. I mean, doesn't everyone know it's next to Spatula City?
Spatula City, Azerbaijan, yes.

I am not good with geography. Hell I don't even know where half the US states are supposed to be.

Why did they make Saddam Hussein look like a big fat guy in that star wars pic? Look at him he has a beer gut. He doesn't have that on TV!
And by saying Arab or Arab nation, I mean to say Middle Eastern and Middle East Nations. Any nation contained within the "angel"
What part of your mind deemed it logical and inoffensive to use one nation as the catch-all for the entire Middle East? When you were trying to think of all the Middle Eastern countries that you could come up with to lump under Arab rule, did it ever occur to you that, should one of the countries you list in fact NOT be an Arab country, that people wouldn't notice and call out the ignorance of it?

:applause: fucking Brilliant.

First off, he's a good looking man, not exactly the type you'd pinpoint for badguy.
/gay

Second, as i was reading this, i recieved a package from FedEx from Toronto. It had an interesting green tape with "DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY" over the opening of the box, of which they opened. It was some action figures. Scary. I just found the timing funny.
Where do Arabs come from genius? The Middle East.

Also is Spatula City a real place or are you trying to be an ass and mock my weight?
When exactly did I bring your weight into question?

Yes, Arabs come from the Middle East. As do about a thousand other cultures and religions. To imply that the Middle East and everything in it is Arab is ridiculous, which is basically what you did when you said that you meant for "Arab" to be "Middle East".
Well I don't know the difference, god damn why don't you sue me for christ sakes. I am not Arab or middle eastern. I am Italian.
That was my point entirely actually. I can tell you don't know the difference, because if you did you wouldn't have been stupid enough to say it. If you don't know, then don't pretend that you do. You'll only look a fool in the end.

I have always used Arab and Middle Eastern iterchangably, just like I would say a random asian person walking down the street is chinese, when they are japanese. Because I can't tell the difference between a saudi arabian and an iraqi, because they have the same features, just like Chinese and Japanese and korean have the same features.

Some people I know say they can tell if someone korean or japanese just by looking. But I really can't. Does that make me a racist? I don't think so.

You weren't distinguishing by appearance though. You were talking about the actual nations, ones that are seperated by entirely different belief structures and religions.

No, it doesn't make a difference when its a random person down the street. It does make a difference when you choose a target for the US to attack.

Say Greece bombed us hypothetically. They're Mediterreaneans right? So are Italians. Bush should just go bomb the hell out of the whole Med. area because they all look the same anyway.

While we're at it, returning to the original topic, if I see your ass on the street I'd report you (not just because of your trolling) because of your Mediterreanean skintone and Italian name.

Sound ridiculous? Thought so. Yet that's exactly what your whole argument is based on.

Some people I know say they can tell if someone korean or japanese just by looking. But I really can't. Does that make me a racist? I don't think so.

No, but it does make you an idiot.

It doesn't make you a racist, but it does make you stupid.

Let's say somebody can't tell the difference between, oh I don't know, an apple and an orange; let's also assume that this person knows it. If he's smart, he'll always refer to the fruit as "fruit" and avoid amusing mishaps. But if he's stupid, he'll always use one term or the other, and let people know he's stupid half the time - not because he can't tell the difference, but because he doesn't use the generic term.

You would probably think somebody's really stupid for calling your IBM PC clone a Macintosh, or referring to one of your shirts as a blouse, right? Same things. Use the words that go with the meaning you're looking for.

I hope that was detailed enough.

Well I think Iraq had something to do with 9/11. Saddam had a painting of 9/11 in his palace. And even if saddam/iraq had nothing to with it, and saddam/iraq had no information about it (Such as bin laden saying "Hey yo saddam, want to go and blow up some american buildings" and saddam said "no I don't want heat for it, you go do it and i'll keep quiet") I do have the feeling that even if nothing of that happened, when saddam heard the news of 9/11, I bet he did smile.

Not to mention right after the attacks, they all came outside and partied and cheered and ripped US flags and kicked bush puppets. Also the fact that in some important building in Iraq (Might have been Saddam's palace) when you first walk into it, there is a huge picture of the first george bush on the floor and peoplem are forced to walk on it, which I do believe is an insult in the Arab/Middle East world.

Explain that.

Is this actually true? I'd appreciate it if somebody could post a link to any (reputable) source.

Besides, so what? this this justify the u.s. invasion?

To everyone that disagrees with the war, did you disagree with World War II? Answer that truthfully and without saying "That has nothing to do with it"

Supported Afghanistan, Supported WW2, Supported the liberating of Kuwait. Did not support the pre-emptive strike on Iraq. I would have supported going into Iraq if George W. Bush had not been in such a rush and had done the legwork to get other major countries on board. As it is now he has created so much bad will towards this country its not even funny.

I was just pointing out how this fact (if it even is a fact) had nothing to do with the rest of the discussion.

And why should we discuss world war II? what _DOES_ it have to do with this?

Yeah well Germany didn't attack us during WWII, the japanese did. But we didn't go after them we went after Germany, who had nothing to do with the pearl harbor. So in your logic, you support the invasion of an innocent country during WWII but not in Iraq? Explain that?

Haha... WW2 Germany innocent. Maybe to a neo-Nazi.

Ever heard of the Axis powers? They had a real alliance, not just a supposed link that Bin Laden and Hussein have.

Oh yeah, Germany invaded Russia, who I believe was our ally at the time. It might help you to read up on some history before you make outrageous claims.

I wonder what the wikipedia has to say about the vietnam war?

"The Vietnam War was a war fought between 1961 and 1975 on the ground in South Vietnam and bordering areas of Cambodia and Laos (See Secret War) and in bombing runs (Rolling Thunder) over North Vietnam.

Fighting on one side was a coalition of forces including the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam or the "RVN"), the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. Fighting on the other side was a coalition of forces including the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) and the National Liberation Front, a South Vietnamese guerrilla movement known in the U.S. as the "Viet Cong". The USSR and People's Republic of China provided intermittent military aid and diplomatic and moral support to the North Vietnamese and to the NLF.

The war was part of a larger regional conflict involving the neighboring countries of Cambodia and Laos, known as the Second Indochina War. In Vietnam, this conflict is known as the American War (literally War Against the Americans to Save the Nation). Many experts consider the war to be a larger battle in the then-ongoing Cold War."

...

"President Johnson relied on his power as Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution as justification for escalation of the conflict."

(The Gulf of Tonkin Incident was a series of battles between two U.S. destroyers and North Vietnamese gunboats that took place in August of 1964 in the Gulf of Tonkin.)

Yes, sounds exactly the same as "they were communist".

You had to drag America kicking and screaming into both world wars, the civil war and even the revolutionary war.

Anytime there is a war there is a division in the country. I think you may have slept through history class if you say no one opposed WWII. I am sure there were people, but America became a pseudo dictatorship, ripe with censorship and other forms of propaganda.

There's a reason we attacked and declared war on Germany. They declared war on us first. Our declaration of war on December 8th 1941 was against Japan only.
I think y'all just don't like bush, so you are going to scrutinize everything he does, bad or good...
You're right. I don't like him.

But even if i did, I'd still be watching him like a hawk. This is America because we have the right to criticize the government and question their actions. Criticism of the government and it's institutions is absolutely necessary to democracy. I'm not saying that either side is right, but the moment one side stops saying what they really think, we will no longer be a democracy.

About vietnam. If you have ever seen the Movie "Full Metal Jacket" you would remember a quote that the drill sarge says that goes something like this "We will conquer COMMUNISM with the help of god and a few marines. God has a hard on for marines. He does his part and we do ours."

Also about World War II, don't insult my intelligence on it, because I did a project on WWII in high school. I got an A+ on that project.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What if Saddam came up and revealed he had a cure for AIDS? Would he be forgiven for everything and then embraced by everyone? No he wouldn't.
I bet if Bush found a cure for AIDS you still would hate him because of the iraq war.
