I think that you're quite wrong about the "message sending" function of the war in Iraq in practice. The neo-con literature that the hawks in this administration are so fond of tells a quite different story about the geo-political rationale for invading Iraq. Futhermore, it is not even clear that this would be a sound theoretical justification since Iraq was not intimately connected with Al-Quaeda nor was it a fundamentalist Islamic state. Thus, the choice to invade Iraq was either arbitrary or served some purpose(s) other than warning nations not to support terroism or continue operating as fundamentalist islamic theocracies. Since it has been established that Iraq was not a fundamentalist islamic state nor a supporter of Al-Quaeda, the ability of the Iraq invasion to influence the behavior of fudamentalist islamic states that support terror (and coincidentaly opposed the secular Iraqi regime) will be severly undercut since the justification for invading Iraq appears to be specific to Iraq. Just my thoughts. I am by no means an expert in this field (and I highly doubt that you are either). I suppose we should agree to disagree. I think it funny that we bring up such a touchy subject on a video game web site, but let me say this. With Bush in office at first i had no complaints, until we went to war i have two friends in iraq and they both write to me that we did not need to be there. Saddam is a leader of his OWN country HIS OWN! We have gone over there many a time to 
with HIS country and that is why HE HATES US. Is that any suprise? If someone walked into your home and just stole your food and then left would you like them? No, probably not but the fact of the matter is Bush wanted in office to finish what his father couldn't, and he got him, good for him i'm happy that such an evil man is gone, but the question is did he need to be captured? He was killing tons of people yes, but they were his choices in HIS country. I know that i'll get ripped on alot for defending such a horrible person, all i'm saying is that for FOUR years now we have done nothing but be focused on a war that, only two, of my friends both agree we need to leave.
Meanwhile I can't get Federal Aid because my father is refianancing our home and since i'm under the age of 24 i'm considered a dependent, even though my father hasn't filed me a dependent for 5 years. So, that means that my father has to co-sign on a loan, and technically you really can't accrue any debt when your trying to refianance on your home. So one of the things Bush said he was going to look into fixing was the fact of Federal Aid laws because it's silly. So what i'm saying is that I can't go to school because thising dick head (which i voted for because i thought he would be a better president than GORE which is probably right) HAS DONE NOTHING BUT FOCUS ON ANOTHER ING COUNTRY DURING HIS 4 YEARS AND I CAN'T GO TO SCHOOL AND BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE WON'T DO HIS ING JOB.
I just needed to vent because i'm pissed i can't go to college right now cause i can't afford to and i think it's bullshit.
And for you people who are bashing Bush, yes i don't like him either but look at it this way, search John Kerry's past he's a face to he's an awful person also, as are ALL POLITICIANS. Lets face it the only way they get into office is by decieving us young adults and voters, the only decent person i've seen run in a long time is Ralph Nader, but i would trust him to run a Mc donalds much less a country

It bothers me to hear somebody complain about not getting a handout for college. I had to get loans and now I'm paying them. Clinton didn't help me go to College and I don't blame him for that. College, as well as everything else in life, is a privalege, not a right. I think people should vote for people who will uphold our way of life, and allow us to have the option to partake in privaleges. I would not vote for someone because I think they will give me something.
If you work for something and earn it, you can make an argument about deserving it. You earned your diploma, so you should get it. If you gathered ever person who had ever walked the face of the Earth and put them all together, some of our poorest people here in America would have more than 99.999% of all of human history. And you think you deserve to have 4 years of College that even fewer people in human history were ever able to experience given to you because you deserve it?
By the way, thank you for your sacrifice of free school. It helped pay for Bush to liberate a country from a man who murdered, raped, and tortured hundreds of thousands of innocent people - often for his own amusement. I'm sure if they could, many of them would help you pay for your schooling. You can argue with the political ramifications of the war, but even if the whole thing spirals into a chaotic mess worse than before, at least for one shining moment those people had a chance to grasp a small piece of the freedom that we have here. If you lived in a country where people were arrested, tortured, and slaughtered at the whims of a madman - a country where your daughters or sisters might be taken and raped and killed for the lust of a political leader - wouldn't you appreciate some 20-somethings allowing their President to pursue that moment, that opportunity for you and your family and your country rather than turn his back and try to figure out how to get his taxpayers to pony up cash for the spoiled 20-somethings who think the world revolves around them?
