Im not sure how many people know about this site but I think it is kinda interesting. Its shows you the amount of time you spend in each game, dashboard, demos or whatever else. Unfortuanitly it only shows the amount of time since you signed up but still cool non the less

Does this make anyone else feel a bit uneasy?
No more than my user card/display in my signature does.

Considering we live in an age where every website you visit can be logged, every cell phone call you make monitored, even how fast your car was going in the seconds before a car accident (although this doesn't apply to older cars) the fact that a website can keep track of how long someone places a particular game isn't that big of a deal, nor is it one of the more alarming things "big brother" can watch in my opinion.

Maybe it's that I don't have a cell phone and I don't drive that this seems bigger to me. :)

Also, there's more info in this site than in your gamercard.

Not that this is that big a deal. My original post wasn't all that serious.

In order to sign up for a live eye profile it takes a couple of steps

You must create a 360friendspot forum account using your gamertag as your username

You must go through the gamertag verification process on that gamertag (select services, then verify gamertag once loging the 360friendspot forums)

Finally you must select to create a Live eye account (once validated select verify gamertag again and you may sign up)

keep in mind Verification is a manual process that a member of our staff must complete for you, it could take up to 24 hours - and you should recieve an email when the verification is complete - finally the verify gamertag page will let you know if you have been verified yet or not.

Daaaaaaamn. That's alot of steps.... I might try to sign up, though.

Wish I had done this before playing BioShock.

Also: the Wii does this automatically ;)

EDIT: Well, just sent Big Jim the verification PM. Looks like I'm more than half-way through.

well all the steps are to make sure you want to be watched - we figured it was nicer than letting anyone sign you up without your permission - and unfortunately microsoft doesnt give us a simple way to verify you own the gamertag you are registering.

thanks for your interest guys :)

I do this, and it is pretty useful. I like that I can supervise my 360 use while I am at work, so I know when my wife fires up Uno ;).

Is signing up really that hard? I might do it if it's not as annoying as you guys are making it out to be.

No, it's trivial. You sign up for a forum, then you copy and paste a validation code into a Live PM and you wait. That's itl

I'm trying to figure out how to set my LiveEye to private.

This reminds me of a few weeksago when Microsoft said they wanted to install a tye of camra into TVs to track who is watching TV and their age and sex. They said it wouldn't be a real camra, but some super specal new tech thing. Eiter way it is just really freaky.

This game tracking thing isn't as bad, not nearly, but it is still a little weird.
I am waiting for validation.
whats your gamertag - i dont see a forum account for CAGKendal or a validation request for that gamertag.
too bad it has such a crappy sign up process. I love xfire for this on pc games.
personally I wish the process was a bit smoother, or streamlined but without microsoft giving us a way to validate your gamertag we had to come up with this process to validate you are the person requesting to be part of the site - some people dont want to be watched so closely as you have seen on this thread, so we didnt want it so anyone could sign up any gamertag.

currently public is the only option.

TwoTonTunic is my forum name. I am going to be changing my GT to it when I feel like giving Microsoft $10 to change my name. The Validation request is from CAGKendal though. Want me to PM you my validation code here or on the xbox forums again?

that explains it, currently your forum username and gamertag should be the same - since you have all ready been waiting for close to a day just send me a msg on Xbox Live and I will get your live eye profile set up.

Are you kidding me? Why the hell does the directory say "Here is a list of all the current LiveEye members who have chosen to keep their profile public." That's clearly not true, there's no choice to be made. I thought I could keep my profile private based on that.

Well theres no need for this site for me at least. I don't want to know how many hours of my life ive wasted in oblivion.

perhaps that should be reworded then - we started the code to make profiles private but have not finalized it - and most people that sign up have actually not wanted it. If you want to have your tag deleted from the system let me know; at the 360friendspot forums, xbox.com private message, or xbox live message are the best ways to get a hold of me, though I do try to check posts on external sites when possible, you can also remain on the site and as we release new changes we keep the users updated - private profiles is on the enhancement list, but the site was mostly created to share information with others.

Yeah, please reword it if you're not able to make switching an option in the near future. As for deleting my profile, I appreciate the offer but I think I'll live with it at this point. I like the information myself and as of yet I don't have any reason to remove it. Mostly I felt betrayed at having the information forced public without my knowing (especially since you're big on "because you asked is to").

what does the page say if you go back to the verify screen?
http://www.360friendspot.com/verify.asp

I see your forum account, but I dont see you on the list of pending validations which generally means if you requested validation it is complete (you should have gotten an email). If that is the case you simply have to finish by clicking to create your profile.

totally understand, we redid the front end interface recently - and this was overlooked - i changed it as soon as you mentioned it sorry about being misleading - even if it was unintentional.

Same here. Signed up days ago, sent the PM through Xbox.com and never received an email link to finish.

You won't receive an email link to finish. You just did the last step. When you're verified the page you got the verification code from (that you PM'd on xbox.com) will change.

when a verification is complete it does send an email reminder - now that doesnt mean that it somehow was lost in transmission or marked as spam etc.

what does the page say if you go back to the verify screen?
http://www.360friendspot.com/verify.asp

towards the bottom if verification is completely it will allow you to click to generate your account - if its still not verified, it will allow you to resend.

your verification went to me (I remember the gamertag) and I know that your verification was completed.

I would be more worried about people recording/observing my xbox live conversations than data about what games I've played for how long.

Hmmm.... that link worked, but I checked my spam folder and didn't get the email. Oh well. Thanks for the help. Looking forward to checking out my play times. :)
Ive been waiting for about 2 days for my gamertag to be validated now.
towards the bottom if verification is completely it will allow you to click to generate your account - if its still not verified, it will allow you to resend, the policy is we try and have them done within 24 hours (we all have to play games and possibly sleep sometimes right?) but we try and get them done much quicker than that. I dont see your gamertag in the validation queue, so most likely the validation is complete and its simply waiting on you finishing the sign up process.

I tried to do this like a month ago. I must've sent like 5 PMs to two different guys because they had to confirm the registration or something. They must've never had the free time to widen their community.

Oh well, just learning from this thread that it only keeps track of your hours spent after signing up turns me off anyway. I was just curious to see how embarrassingly long I've spent playing Gears of War. I've literally had to spend well over 1000 hours playing that game online.
