I'm certain this has been brought up, but the Search function never really pulls up anything relevant for me. So how do I download Youtube videos?

I downloaded the VideoDownloader (v1.1.1) add-on and the MediaCoder software for conversion, but whenever I click the VideoDownloader icon on a Youtube video page, I get an error link saying the link is an invalid URL. Thanks for the help.

Well the site I use to save Youtube videos is this one:

www.keepvid.com which is a free site that converts the flash videos from almost any site to .flv for you to view with a Flash Video Player. They also provide a link to a free Flash Video Player to view the videos once downloded which I use also.

There is a link on youtube that lets you download stuff.

EDIT: Oppsss..Nevermind. I was thinking about Google Video.

You don't even need external site, extensions, or software to save them if you use Firefox.

Simply do this...

Open Firefox.

In the address bar type about:cache

You should see something that says Cache Directory. It will be something similar to C:\Documents and Settings\.... followed by a bunch of other characters.

Copy the C: prompt plus everything after it.

Open My Computer and paste the info in the address bar.

Then sort by date.

Now, go to whatever Youtube vid you like in Firefox and let it load all the way. When it is done, go back to where you pasted the Cache info in My Computer. Hit the back arrow then forward arrow. This will refresh the most recent entries in your cache. Copy the most recent entry in the cache to your Desktop and add .flv to the end of the filename (which will be random letters). Then simply play in your favorite FLV player. I use VLC player which plays pretty much everything.

If you just want to download a few videos Keepvid is the best. Copy, paste, right click save as, rename to .flv, ???, profit.
