Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

Richard Kerris
VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Due to the large volume of orders, we have sold out of the HP TouchPad.

Your order was placed on Monday/Tuesday after the Sold Out message was posted on our webstore; therefore, we cannot fulfill your request and will be cancelling your order in the next 24 hours.

You may have seen a reserve hold for the amount of your order on your credit card. No actual charges have been made and this reserve hold will be released as soon as the order is cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Your HP Small & Medium Business Team

Ugh, still no word from OnSale. Order still shows up in my account, still "Shipping Soon," amount still on hold on my card. I really just want to know either way at this point.

go to amazon. look for an order number not from amazon but under it. if its there things might be looking good. put that number into the onsale order status site along with your zip code. then you should know.

It sucks I know. All Tampa stores that got them in today somehow decided to sell them today and break the "We will sell them the next morning?"

So I'm just going to ask this one more time haha, no one ever replied to my other post. Has anyone received any form of communication from PC Richard? I ordered one Friday night and while my card was charged the next day, I have still received nothing by way of email (or Touchpad for that matter) from them.

Since charging my card the money has been back in/back out numerous times now much to my dismay. Any help would be great. Thanks!

On a side note you dont have to settle for a HP TP specific case. The dimensions are similar enough you can swap out an ipad 1 case on it just fine. Only need to watch the placement of the covering around the speaker. Cases are around a reasonable $10-$15 for most.

Agreed
Although, here is a link where i bought my pad case

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005H476S8

12.95 as of now. I believe it bumped to 20 dollars when the Touchpad craze was beginning to pick up during the weekend

It seals with this magnet on the border. I am not sure if this would be a problem however. I believe most electronics should not have magnets near them but i am not sure.

ugh, they're popping up all over in my area, I have a giftcard/rz certs burning a hole in my pocket and I'm stuck at work. Comon 8:30!

edit: is BB the only retailer getting new shipments? Sorry if this question has been answered already.

it hasnt even been released yet

So it seems confirmed now that what I'm getting tomorrow from FedEx is definitely just the printer paper like everyone else who ordered from HP seems to have been getting. My order status still says Item being processed, so I don't even know if my Touchpad is on its way yet or not. You can add me to the group who will more than likely get their accessories before getting the pad. Frustrating. :whistle2:x

Got my 32 GB from bestbuy today. Cool little system! I love the touchstone induction charger, too. So effin slick.

I also picked up a Zagg Invisibleshield screen protector, but I haven't installed it yet. They're on sale for $25 at bestbuy (MSRP is $30). It's pricey, but they protect the screen very well (I've used the same product for my HTC Thunderbolt), and Zagg will give lifetime replacements for shipping cost only if it the protector ever gets damaged.

Has anyone else's SMB credit hold been released?

I placed my order on Saturday at around 3:50 pm ET and received the order confirmation email about an hour later. Which is just after the 2pm initial batch cutoff that Bryna had mentioned.

I hope this doesn't mean my order has been cancelled, I haven't received any cancellation email from them.

To the people who ordered from the onsale sell on amazon. I saw on the slickdeals forums that amazon has been giving credit $15-$30 to some of the people who call and complain.

I am right in the same boat you are but I ordered later, some time on the 21st, long before the 4am CST Monday the 22nd cut off that is now posted all over the site. I have gotten the same e-mails as you and no cancellation and I have an order #. I'm currently on the phone and on hold for the second time with HP today, was on hold with Onsale but gave up after 45min, also was on for 1 hour and 30minutes and got auto disconnected; now on for *checks* 25 or so minutes trying to figure out what is going on, I'll update you if I have any pertinent info for our situation.

*UPDATE* : I guess I got through after another 10 minutes but it got me to someone's message box, so I was going to leave a message, and wouldn't you know it their inbox is full  . Oh well I'll try again tomorrow early, first thing in the day, open at 7am CST time hopefully by then I just will have a tracking number and my card charged since the authorization is gone.
I ordered through the Amazon link early on 21-AUG-2011. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it.
Tracking # is working and has left the warehous with a 30-Aug delivery.

No complaints here for Onsale or Amazon.....sorry

You win some you lose some, its not always how you play the game.

Being in Japan, I didn't have many options aside from having another CAG pick on up for me.
Since the first day, I have had all my eggs in one basket as someone placed an order through Office Depot for two of them (one for me and one for himself).
I was feeling pretty good about it as he placed the order very quickly once the price was dropped, but over the past few days, it had not seemed promising of course.
Yesterday was the worst as, he had said his card had been charged, but then they refunded him.
Still, somehow the units ended up arriving today, so I am in luck!
I'm assuming that with all of the orders they have simply really screwed up their billing and will likely recharge him again today or tomorrow.

In any case, I'm a happy camper as this is going to be a great anniversary gift when I could not think of anything to begin with!

They didn't give me anything when I filed a complaint. Nice to know they pick and choose who they credit.

I was kind with my report too.
Whats wrong with this? I mean its pretty much cost...and probably the time they spent actually being able to get 10 was probably not worth it for them. Good person if you ask me!
I think by "attack" he just meant "these are going to go quick so get in while you can."

He wasn't saying anything was wrong with that, he was letting NY cags know where they could get a good deal.

lol what's with this guy? I mean I get that he wants to give it to people who actually want one but why so stingy on the selection? It's not up to him or any of his business what the buyer does with the product. I would love to see exactly how he expects people to "prove" to him they're not reselling it.
