Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Its only semi-accurate.

Thanks cRodz! I didn't really want to go out in the rain today. Looks I can wait for next week provided that's the week that info is referring to.

lol, are they retarded? Put them on a pallet and let them sell? Yeah, that wouldn't cause any more problems. At least they came to their senses.
I suspect that the picture above was taken earlier this week.
The date listed on that message was 8/24, when they started Gettig more of the stock. I wouldn't count on more, if any, shipments to best buys after this week.
To help out...I ordered from Hp's SMB on 08/20, and have received two confirmation emails. Status is still ADMIN, but the initially charged my card when I ordered. First confrim was was about 30 min after I ordered. Second was that Tuesday, but, charge was dropped on my card. Ordered with free shipping and have yet to receive a ship confirm, but noticed on the second confirm "bestway" was shipping it....
I ordered on the 21st and got my actual confirmation yesterday. I do, however, still have a pending charge on my CC (been there since the 21st). I just want to know if I'm getting one. I'm not really concerned when, I just want one. :)

@flyinfast The keyboard is great! I actually set in up in my hotel room and it has a good feel to it. I’m defijiteky taking it to school and writing my notes for class on this baby! I hope HP releases those free apps again!

For the people giving advice about CL transactions, heed their warning. I've only did four transactions. I sold two Blackberry', bought a car (don't ask) and I bought a Playstation Move bundle. I actually met the first guy at my house for my $250 Blackberry. He was pretty cool so i kept in contact with him for a while. The next Blackberry I sold, I met the guy at the Sprint store where I shop often so they know me there. He bought that one for $125. I then bought the car...The final transaction is where I bought my Playstation Move Bundle (two motion controllers, the camera, the nav controller, and sports champions) for $100. Every time I signed a ckntract or at least received a receipt so you just have to be smart about it. I hope this helps.
If people are willing to pay good money for information that they could otherwise get free on the internet if they'd just look for themselves, then whose business is it to critique what other people do?

It's like the people paying a premium for the Touchpads. If they feel it's better than running all over creation to various stores and/or calling stores like crazy to try and find out when/if they're getting stock in, then who are we to judge?

As usual it's just sour grapes from those in the community who weren't diligent enough to be there at the right moment to get one(or more) of these for themselves.
Dude you are so completely full of shit. You spend hours everyday on CAG talking about how lazy and stupid everyone else is for paying premiums/ even msrp on stuff. (the other hours complaining about how cags always lowball you on offers...) Now you're saying " whose business is it to critique qhat other people do" and "if people want to pay premiums for touchpads who are we to judge"?

Are you mental? Or are you just the seller on those info auctions?

Dude spends fucking houses? Damn, must be a serious baller.

Somewhat scary realization is now SD's user base has probably jumped by a few thousand over the last couple of weeks. When reports credited SD with mentioning this deal when it first came live, news about the site spread to many people that hadn't known about it. My friend hawks that site now with his new touchpad. Oh boy.
Has anyone else found out that it is harder to buy a flashlight and D batteries today than it is to find a Touchpad?
D motherfucker. D.

I will use my touchpad as a flashlight in an emergency.

Hey did you ever end up getting one?

Yeah this message was on our employee login the day before the last shipment of TouchPads came in, so it's old. As it stands now, we don't have anymore coming in, but what's odd is that we have a few accessories allocated to come in. Weird.

Got the 16 gb at BB yesterday morning after waiting in line at 7am. This thing is fucking amazing. Can easily go head-to-head with the Ipad. I'm just debating if I should use Android or not...

I just got mine its a really nice tablet. I'm still getting use to it. Some things are weird on it if you own a iphone. Mainly the tap and keyboard aren't as accurate at picking up taps.

Not when I stocked up on D batteries during the great Blockbuster clearance sale of 2011.

I have to agree. This thing is really nice - and Exchange and vpn compatible? They could've sold a ton of these things. I just hope someone shows some interest in WebOS so development continues.
Has anyone else found out that it is harder to buy a flashlight and D batteries today than it is to find a Touchpad?
Yeah but then I keep wondering what the hell are people doing with flashlights in between storms that they need a new set every single time?

The biggest adjustment for me is actually typing the periods at the end of sentences.

@coolsteel. Don't ask dont tell

It's like people who buy shovels during snowstorms. What are they doing with them every year?

Oh and haven't yet found a touchpad.

Just a heads up for all those who ordered in-store through P.C. Richards & Sons (not sure if this discussed at all yet):

Supposedly these stores took a bunch of orders because they believed they had Touchpads in their warehouse to sell; however, they didn't, so now they are scrambling to purchase Touchpads from HP to fulfill people's orders. And even though I was told as well as others that we would get our Touchpads a week ago, after speaking with the manager, there is no ETA on when the tablets will actually come in.

Although, according to him, since I ordered one as soon as the store opened, I am guaranteed one whenever they do come in stock (I'm guessing months from now lol).
Has anyone else found out that it is harder to buy a flashlight and D batteries today than it is to find a Touchpad?
Stopped by the supermarket earlier and there were no cases of water left. Also no milk, eggs, and limited non-perishable foods. Luckily I bought them yesterday.

What a morning. 30 mile drive to BB. 4 hour wait till the store opened. 30 minute wait to get the tp, and then another 30 mile drive home.

But now I have a TP and I'm going to do something I've been wanting to do for a looooooong time. SLEEP!:whee:
Im in line at best buy. Almost 7am and about 75 ppl. This is my last retail effort.
Wow, I can't believe how crazy this has gotten.

It's hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago no one wanted these and more importantly no one cared. You know the employees will be happy as can be when all of this finally blows over.

you got one, so no complaints

Same for me. It's very annoying trying to hit the period button while typing. Double hitting the space bar was a very cool idea (is this an apple inovation).

I had a ton of trouble with the keyboard until I realized you could resize it. Now it feels much more like the ipad keyboard which i'm actually pretty quick at.
i've had this happen a few times. it appears to be intermittent. i would assume there is still a lot of traffic on their site and it's not handling it well at all times.
Good call it's back up now!

I can't find anymore for $100 or $150 anywhere. Its sold out everywhere in GA. I don't feel like spending $250 for a 32GB one either since tax and shipping make it $300+ and if that's the case, I might as well get a Wifi Only 16GB iPad.

I really, REALLY hope that if and when HP puts more up on the website, the hoarders won't hit it and some people would have given up already to increase my chances.

I want just ONE of these things and I'll be happy.
Wait, did they get Android on this thing yet?
No, I'm just saying when it comes. Apparently though, some devs are VERY close to making it happen. It's just a matter of time..

Their CS has told many people on the phone thatll be a limit of one per household.
My guess is they mean one per HP account, or 1 per physical shipping address. Some people (me) will most likely have 2 accounts ready to order with. Also, DataVision said the next batch HP is sending them will be more expensive. My theory is if DataVision has to sell them for a higher price during "round 2", maybe HP is going to, also.
I predict $150/$200 now.

Keep in mind that HP has never once mentioned a second "fire sale"; they simply mentioned being out of stock and having new shipment soon. Why do you think they have canceled so many orders instead of just keeping them on hold until new stock comes in...?
...Because they want to charge us that extra price, imo.

We shall see...

My order is in absolutely the same place as yours. No changes since the 26th. I'm just gonna let it roll and see what happens. This whole fiasco is way to interesting not to see it though to the end.

Thanks for the link much appreciated...

Don't know if this was posted already, but being 430!! pages in, I'm not interested in checking.
