Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

Richard Kerris
VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

sellin on ebay for 47$ only 2 left though...
auction raffles are against eBay policy. it's reportable to eBay :D

I'm surprised some resellers wanna take a chance to sell this item right now. Some people are already trying to sell this for $200 and they are banking on a PM or even finding some in-store tomorrow. I have a feeling some are in for a rude awakening. Lesson is you ought to be careful selling something that you may not have on hand. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Touchpad...80726805558?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item415c9f1c36
What kind of scam is amazon running? All night I been watching the 16GB then suddenly it goes out of stock and some company name "FireMall" pops up selling it fullfilled by Amazon, meanwhile you can no longer find Amazon selling it.
never shopped at Amazon before?

I find that every time I refresh, a different place comes up.

If you order through OfficeDepot.com, you can select the pay with cash option so you don't get charged until you get there. I'm thinking of doing that just in case. That's always an option.

Yeah I have a legit eBay account and would never leave myself open to be negged because I couldn't secure stock.. and that is EXACTLY what a buyer should do if the seller cancels an item due to not having the inventory...

however I would imagine that many retail employees would buy these up when they come in in the morning and they may be the biggest resellers.
If you go to officedepot.com there's a banner on the home page that shows the price drop, but the site hasn't updated the prices yet. Should change by midnight or early morning I guess. I'm gonna hit up my local depot first thing in the morning!
I saw the ad too at the top of the page. I went ahead and added them to cart for pickup in store, even though it is showing the wrong price in the cart (totaling over $1000). I figured I'll try for the dropped price tomorrow since I missed all the other drops. Think this may work or they going to want to charge the full amount? I chose cash as payment option just in case I can get 2 held for me (1 for me 1 for fiance as bday present in sept.).

Yeah but chances are some SD'ers will be getting their accounts negged for that very reason (oos).

If that's the case,I'll just go to the store and pickup the item for the cheaper price. Lol, there's no way I'm paying more than $149 for one of them.

I went ahead and placed my order for cash pickup at Office Depot, even though they are still 400 online. Figured I would just go there and tell them if they don't want to lower the price, then I will return them immediately and buy them again. Win!
SlickDeals DISCOVERED this. stop bitching. most people bought 1-3
Besides the 2727 code is supposed to be used by the Army.
Your moral grey area contradicts itself.

IF you're gonna blame anyone blame gizmodo/engadget THEY linked everyone too it.
SD doesn't even have it as a frontpage deal.
It seem all you do is bitch at other people. You designated yourself CAG's regulator? Ever stop and think, that a bitch's bitcher is also a bitch? Too bad Mod deleted my response to you in the BB Tradein thread, read it might help you remove that stick.
as soon as i turn in for the night, amazon will lower their prices.
Then go to bed now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol! I was thinking of getting one for my fiancé too! :D

Two 32GB's are still going for a grand, but if the banner shows the price drop, and the site gives the option to pick-up in stores, then I'm sure it'll be sold in stores at the discounted price.

As of midnight PST, the prices still have not dropped. My store opens at 7 a.m., so it'll be an early morning for me...

went ahead and ordered 2 through sams club... $20 in shipping was worth not having to hassle or wake up early and get this crap. Guess I will cancel the office depot order

Edit: fuck nevermind... I hit place order then came here to write it. Went back and they were OOS -.-

aww lucky mine opens at 9, which is ironically the SAME time i have to go into work

That's what I'm doing as well! I placed one for the store that said it was in stock instead of a store with limited availability. I'm not taking any chances!
Sams club 16GB $99 in stock.
32gb is showing as 149, but you have to add to cart to see the lower price.

I'm gonna wait and see what happens with my HP order.

Not going through for me...

Office Depot states:
"What if the OfficeDepot.com price is lower than its price in store? If you find a lower price on a new, identical item on our website, www.officedepot.com, show us a screen shot either at the time you are ready to buy it or within 14 days of your in-store purchase, we will match the price. Our stores will not match prices from our catalogs, web-only specials, or prices offered to our contract customers."So just bring a screenshot! Wonder if the banner counts because I am sleepy and have work at 9 am when my store opens :(

I wish I could know now if Target and all the other B&M will sell their stock in the morning or are planning to send them back just as Best Buy did.
aww lucky mine opens at 9, which is ironically the SAME time i have to go into work
Dude, that sucks! Working on a Saturday too! It is a lucky thing and I haven't a clue as to why they open so early. It's just a matter of getting my butt over there, and whether they even have any.

I can also confirm that Sam's Club is showing the price drop. Oddly enough, Costco doesn't show them online at all but I'm sure they have them in stores. Not sure what they're gonna do though.

I was just wondering to myself about Costco.... I saw at my local store two days ago and they had a shit ton of these laying around.

same here. The anticipation is killing me
I am still not sure why they did not just get rid of the stock to the customer instead of shipping them all back to the void of HP. Kind of sucks.
It wouldn't have been profitable for them. Heck, they may have lost money selling them at those prices.

I think im going to wait this one out.....if bestbuy has such a "massive stock" they may need to cut a little deeper to get rid of it before everyone else.
