Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

I hate you so much right now.

Well, if amazon match the price then i would def jump on that :D ....Is canceling and returning stuff from office depot a hassle by any chance?
At that price you might as well get the 32Gb model...
Those are OOS and people were hoping to PM the 16GB at pickup, except OD rigged it so the cheap prices were only for delivery.

I went back and completed a backorder for a 32GB one and it rang thru as FREE. I have no idea what's going to happen, but at least it doesn't appear it will cost me anything to find out.

To those who ordered from OD, can you check your bank account. Mine says they're 3 transactions from 3 different Office Depot stores (1 in a store in CA, 1 from FL, and 1 from GA). I'm guessing they're checking stores to see which one has it in stock and ordering it from there?

FYI, it's showing at the lower prices now at HP.com, but both are OOS. I'm turning in and will get up in a couple of hours and see what the latest drama is.

As of when I copypasta'ed these numbers from SD:

I just have one hold for the amount of the 2 I ordered.

My transactions are not showing where but only that the correct amount has been charged.

I spoke to my local Walmart since they are open 24 hours. The woman was beyond rude and said they haven't heard anything about a price drop. She was the electronics manager and assured me she would know by now. Who knows, maybe she was just pissed about something.

That's rude as hell! I will argue with them. Just like the time I had to get my Guitar Hero Price Matched. I will have them price this the same, lol. Did they have any in stock though?

Walmart and TRU always gave me problems lol....

My OD seems to have gone through, I think im going to sleep and forgetting about waking up early for this regardless. If it ships cool! If not whatever:)

to TheRock88, my bank has the charge on my account, but doesnt say where from, sorry.

Work
Walmart and TRU always gave me problems lol....
Lol, I'm sorry. That's a bummer. I used to work there so I think they let some of the misprints go through because I used to work at TRU.

Just stopped by my Walmart and the (nice) woman who was watching the electronics section said someone from the morning crew pushes price drops to the system. Strange that this mega-corporation doesn't have it all automated. She said they roll in around 7, so I'm noww at McD's killing time.

This could not come at a better time as I owe my Mom a birthday present and she's been thinking about a nook color. I figure this would be even better since Kindle is on it and the screen is larger. I opted to order two each at both Wal-Mart and Office Depot for in-store pickup. I figure one of them might pan out. Of course, they are charging full-price on these at this time, which is probably the only reason they are still available.

I figure I will try Wal-Mart first, since I would rather have the cheaper 16GB version, but if the price hasn't dropped or they refuse to refund the difference, I'll just return them. I worry about this because I've had Walmart people get very stubborn when it comes to online vs. in-store pricing and refuse to budge.

At Office Depot I picked the cash option, so nothing out of pocket if they don't have them, and if they do, great, but it's the 32GB version. I can live with the extra expense if it means I get a couple.

lol man u are crazy

Damn. Trying to find Office Depot coupons. Finding them, but for 'non-technology' items. Who knows, they may restock their site. It's good to look for online coupons when online shopping, etc.., whatever.
lol man u are crazy
I'd call it a sleeping problem combined with nothing better to do in the morning.

Search the region, at lease this confirm the stores might have them for the reduced price today. I'm tempted to go buy the $99 one in store later. Hopefully they still have some.

Slickdeals got over 2 and a half million views and 585 pages of thread in 10 hours... Check this guys' post out: I'm at a freakin 24/7 walmart, and electronic section is closedd.... drove 110 miles on the freeway to get here too. will be camping out You spent probably $40 on gas getting there and back... to get a deal on a gadget you probably didn't even want 6 hours ago? That describes SD so well

Hmmm, I wonder if I could still flip 1 or 2 of these. I have no interest in keeping one since I have a Xoom... Maybe sell my Xoom and have 3 of these? I can have one dedicated to the bathroom!

OMFG! Hardees has sealed the deal!!!!! Cinnamon Raisin Biscuits, HERE I COMEEEE!!!!!! Me thinks me will get the $99 one and get a new laptop later.

Here's to hoping they have it in stock!

Thanks OP!!!!

Figures I'd be watching Wal-Mart all this time, and they update prices after they already sold out. They had about 300 or so units left for online order about 2-3 hours ago, and I've been waiting for them to lower price to $99, while simultaneously watching the stock go down and down. About 20 minutes ago it was out of stock, still at the $399 price tag. Guess people were buying it at the $399 price tag, and just planning to price match it.

I'm beginning to like your style.
I'd call it a sleeping problem combined with nothing better to do in the morning.
lol man hats of too u brother lol - resell that thing make a profit - but im guessing some one like you with nothing better to do in the mornings would actually keep this for personal use - am I right? lol
Wal-mart price just updated
lol and its unavailable for pick already almost any where lol
I was checking them every 20 minutes and their prices were $399 and $499, but right when I was waiting in between it went on sale. When I checked it the 32gig was oos completely but the 16gig was still available.

Just got back with three 32 GB Touchpads. Some family birthdays coming up, so I am good to go now.

I paid full price at two seperate Wal-Marts, and plan to go back around noon to get the difference back. The clerk at one store informed me he expected their stores discounts to go live during normal business hours.

If you don't have one yet, I strongly suggest going to Wal-Mart now and buying what they have in stock, and getting the difference later. I would also go to Target upon opening if I were you.

there's 1 walmart that shows in stock but it is not allowing me to pick up at store. and it doesn't allow me to even add it to cart b/c it is sold out online!

Not a bad idea, would go well with my lcd in there already... :applause:
