It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Heheh. I actually only wanted a tablet for gamefaqs originally. While I was playing Demon's Souls I kept thinking 'damn, I don't want to get up and go the wiki...again.' I had been seriously considering getting one of those $99 Chinese bangers but this put me right into buy mode.

Since I have one locked in for pick up at a further Walmart, if I find one at my closest store I may be able to pick one up for somebody. I don't know if they have them yet, it says limited stock at all three stores near me. It would be nice to make a little bit back on the one I'm buying for myself so let me know a price and I'll let you know as soon as I do if they have them. I'll probably head over in about an hour (after I feed my Boys breakfast).

Since I have one locked in for pick up at a further Walmart, if I find one at my closest store I may be able to pick one up for somebody. I don't know if they have them yet, it says limited stock at all three stores near me. It would be nice to make a little bit back on the one I'm buying for myself so let me know a price plus gas and I'll let you know as soon as I do if they have them. Well, since BB has decided they wont sell them and some asshole in front me me took the last 4 16gig and 3 32 gig, looks like I won't be getting one of these for my daughter to use. Don't get me wrong, Missing out on a deal sucks, but that I can handle. Having to watch some asshole hoarder taking every damn thing in stock right in front of me is not something I can easily let go.....

Rockford on Northridge has some but they said they weren't dropping the price. Dont know how true that is.
 
Walmart success! The key is to be persistant. Eventually they get the memo about the change. My story:

Went to the supercenter that opens at 6am. There are two 16GB and five 32GB in the case. Asked for the two 16GB, and they rang up at $399. Talked to an assistant manager, who was hesitant to change the pricing, so I told him I would wait until the higher managers come in. Over the course of time, 4 other people come in and stake claims on the 32GB ones.

At about 8am, the Site-to-Store girl comes by and tries to take the two 16GB. But the employee in electronics says that I had been there since 6am, and they should wait until the management meeting ends to talk to the manager. At 8:30, a co-manager comes by with the Site-to-Store girl, and tries to take the two 16GB. I flustered-but-politely tell her my story, and then one of the other guys waiting goes ballistic! It was very uncomfortable, but his approach got the co-manager to go get the store manager.

Store manager goes back and forth with us for a bit, about the different prices on the website an in-store, and that they won't match it. Ballistic Man continues to put up a huge stink, so the store manager says that he will go back to his office to check on it.

Manager comes back - APPROVED!!

I waited almost 3 hours and was very uncomfortable with Ballistic-But-Effective Man, but in the end it was well worth it. Myself and my brother will enjoy our cheap ass touchpads.

I tried to get a 16GB at my Wal-Mart and someone had in-store picked up every one..... (he wasn't there, though, and they were holding them for him) Gr. Grabbed a 32GB. Pretty cool so far!

Only 20 mins away to manhattan. The city also have a million best buy in such small tiny little island. Closest one is a best buy at 47th and 5th ave. I'll walk in to check what's up over there
 
I ordered the 32GB from HP for $137 and it's still processing. I hope they don't end up just shipping me the block of paper without the Tab...

Annoying, wanted the 16GB but OOS right as I was checking out.

Locally, they have limited supply in NYC for the 32GB but don't want to go all the way out there for a chance to get one. Other than that, OOS.

heyheyhey: Office Depot has a limited supply on 41st and Bway. Just checked online. I would go but don't feel like jumping on the subway for an hour ;)
 
I just grabbed a 16gb from Microcenter. Was a little peeved that I couldn't do in store pick up and had to pay 20 bucks to ship but I guess it's better than using the gas and dealing with other crazy customers in the store.

Does anybody know what program this thing uses to sync with a computer? I haven't been able to find it, maybe my Google-Fu is lacking after little sleep.
 
How do you do the store pick up for walmart? it shows in stock at "my store" but there is no option to put the item into my cart.

OH SCORE. Happened to wake up and think about this about 45 minutes ago and found the walmart about 5 miles up the road had limited availability so I zoomed up there. While the electronics guy waited for a manager to come confirm that they could sell them at that price, another dude showed up with his kids saying he had called about them, so they showed him they had 2 left and he was like "I'll take both!" Luckily they weren't cool with that and once the manager told them to do what they had to do, they gave one to each of us and as we were checking out like 4 more SDers showed up.

The best part was once the manager allowed it, the guy radioed customer service with "Uh, CSS... we're gonna need you up here"

No, I think all of them are still in processing. At least thats better then my order being verified. I'm a little nervous I wont get mine. I used my correct .edu address but I had to enter the wrong school (mine wasn't listed). Also the terms of their school discount is that they can cancel an order at anytime for no reason at all. Hopefully this order pulls through. I'm not willing to fight a bunch of people in line.

The issue with HP is they are logjammed with orders. Most say CS told them they will all go through as their inventory count is live on the website.
 
So, for what it's worth I just talked to a customer service rep on Amazon, and she said corporate has decided they will not lower the price of the 32gb model.

Take it for what it's worth.
 
LOL - trying to update the OS on this thing is like trying to suck a bowling ball through a straw. It's pretty slow with everyone on earth trying to update at the same time!

Man, tried to put one the the TPs on hold at OD. Some lady was busy and asked to try later, I called at the time she said and they're both reserved.

Looking like it's sold out all over NYC. Checked Walmart, they are sold out in mostly every store in a 50 mile radius. Probably the ones that show a stock are just lagged behind on their inventory checker.

Going to put out this offer one more time...

I have one locked in at Wal Mart, just received the email confirmation for in-store pickup... If somebody wants, PM me and I can see if they have one in stock in the store on the way to pick up mine (or any left at the store I'm picking mine up at for that matter). I'll let you know as soon as I know, I'm leaving in about 15m. Let me know a price, I'd like to make a little back on it since it's a hassle for me to go out on extra trips (have an 8m old and an 18m old who I have to bring).

When you PM me just make sure to give you actual email since it's usually easier to message you back that way from my phone.

Just buy another if you can. Someone will obviously want it. My local Walmart had a 1 per person limit though. They did let me + my wife each get one but he had to ok it with management first.

The point is more that I have one locked in at a Wal Mart 40min away... If they have one at my closest Wal Mart (5min away) I'll just get it there and cancel my order at the other one.
