Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

VP webOS Developer Relations

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!
Glad to see so many get in on the 16gb. I was on Slick Deals when someone first posted the 32gb linked from Amazon, so I did a search through OnSale's listings for the 16gb. Placed an order and then posted it here first so more CAG's could get in on it before the Slickdealers posted it and the hoarders jumped onboard. ;) Looks like it might have saved us a minute or two.

As I wrote before I didn't think I had a need for a tablet but at $99, why the hell not, right? ;)
same here man been on SD, its crazy  i saw the 32gb and posted right away

Erm...there were multiple rumours going around that MacMall was going to drop the price on Monday so this seems pretty legit. Shit, if all my orders go through I will be happy if I can resell them for cost.

The SKU is different because it is a SmartBuy. I am in IT and Hp sometimes sell the same products under a different SKU as a SmartBuy. It should be legit.

BTW I just bought 2 16gigers from there, stoked!
Yeah i ordered a 16gb one and shortly after it went out of stock... now it seems to be back in stock. Hoping I am not getting screwed over but onSale does seem like a reputable company with a good reputation. Keeping my hopes up.
lol

Also -- MacMall/OnSale are NOT selling knockoffs. Let the paranoia pass and order. If it is (and it shouldn't be), you can just use Amazon's return policy since it's through their site. But no worries.
Just wanted to thank you for this. You helped a lot of people out on here by posting that link. So, thanks phantomfriar2002

Well, I think my shopping "adventure" is done. I was able to get a 16GB for my parents from onSale using 1-click ordering but kept getting OOS messages at various points of the order flow when doing the normal method.

I was doing it the long way because I wanted to use a different credit card, but you have a short window to change your billing and/or shipping info when you do 1-click.

That said, I'm still gripped by the craziness of the hunt, so I don't think I'll stop reading this thread any time soon.
Looks like 16GB and 32GB are in stock at eCost.com

Linky
Its been instock but the site is pretty damage due to high traffic, I would rather go with amazon third seller though

Feels like Black Sunday! The thrill of the hunt indeed - I love it. :)

Just ordered 2 16gb through amazon third party! Is this basically guaranteed now or should i still be keeping my fingers crossed?

Dang, I kinda wish I'd held out for the 16gb for $106 shipped.

I paid $164 or something after tax yesterday for a 32gb, cause I thought it'd be my only chance at one. But I really only wanted to spend in the $100-$110 range.

Oh well. No way of knowing these would be still available today.

Pretty pleased with it now as just a portable internet machine, but when Android gets ported over, this thing is going to be awesome.

Hooray. Best Buy let me pick up my Tablet. Called for the price adjust. They said they are bogged down, but the representative filled out the request. Now I just wait to get my money back.

I think i just got the last 32 gig from onsale. Big thanks to whoever posted that link. Took a nap in hopes they would turn up when I woke up, and sure enough they did. Going to be a great toy for traveling. Thanks again!

I already have an ipad 2, but I couldn't pass this deal up, and decided to bite on the 16gb. How difficult will or be for me to change or over to android? I heard this tablet as it is is a joke compared to the ipad2, so i want android.

Yeah, I ended up putting in an order for 1 32 GB at OfficeMax, 1 16 at BB, 1 16 with onSale (MacMall). If they all end up going through I will probably cancel/refuse delivery on the 32 GB and sell the 16 to another CAG at cost.

I only went for the 32 to be 'sure' I would get one. $100+tax was what I was looking to spend on this. Still if I could choose between $165 for one in hand or $105 processing I'd take the $165 in hand no question.
Has anyone bought the touchpad at HP's SMB Website by chance?
I bought 1 this morning and got 3 pending charges on my card. I bought one from OnSale so i'll call HP SMB tomorrow to make sure all three are cancelled. :bouncy:

Posting this via my 32gb HP Touchpad that I picked up from Best Buy earlier today. I got it online for the regular $500 msrp last night and once picked up, it automatically adjusted to $150+tax.

Ordered two 16gb from onsale, now let's just hope they actually ship.

Thanks to whoever posted the onsale link! (sorry, I lost your post on the ridiculously growing thread).

From what I have been learning in the past 20 minutes, I think the touchdroid team is trying to port android over to the touchpad. Check:

Yeah thanks to whoever gave us onSale's links. Managed to order 2 for me and my parents. Great deal, assuming I don't get a brick in the mail or an empty box or something lol. I've been staring at this damn thread too long. Good luck to the rest of you, I'm out.

I think I'm in the same boat as a fair number of people in this thread -- I ordered mine off the Best Buy website really early this morning (before 8am eastern) and I did not select in-store pickup, I selected the option to have it shipped. I am sitting on an e-mail that says my order is "being processed", but no confirmation or anything like that. I assume I'll get an e-mail in a day or two that says they're sold out and they're cancelling my order?

Same here, thanks for the OnSale links. My parents are using some craaaappy old Dell laptops from the stone age. Even though these are being discontinued, this will be a great replacement for them to do web browsing & email.
I'm not sure if these OnSale purchases will go through. You can change the ordered quantity to 999 and it still says they're in stock.
Well, I got the email and a pending charge on my credit card, so it better go through.
