It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

I also ordered one from Barnes & Noble but I am NOT going to be surprised if I get a cancellation e-mail. Been a few times I've found some sweet deals at B&N and never have I had one actually pan out.

what the hell - placed an order at B&N too. Might get stuck with an extra, but with 5% back on B&N credit card and 6% back from a program at work its not a bad deal.

Thanks a million. I've been helping my wife move into my apartment this weekend and have had no time to go Touchpad hunting. Wanted 32, but 16 will do. Maybe they'll cancel it (as BN does), but this is the closest I've been to getting one.

Ironically, I was only stalking Barnes and Noble because someone in this thread mentioned a few hours ago that someone from slickdeals posted that a Barnes and Noble rep said that they would change their prices today.

...also, someone else saw Ferris pass out at 31 flavors last night.

As long as its a soft case and not a clip on one. The dimensions are surprisingly similar. If the case has a bit of wiggle room, or can be stretched a bit, it should work. The speaker ports won't line up, but everything else should be pretty close from what I can tell in pictures.

I don't think any iPad because will do because the first iPad didn't have a camera. The picture of the case looks odd because it looks like a first gen iPad but it has a hole for the camera.

If you get a case that covers up all of the bezel, then yeah, the camera is obviously blocked. Many cases just cover a small portion around the bezel, and the camera should be unblocked. Read above for thoughts on buttons/ports.

I didn't want one at first but since everyone is getting one I feel like I'm ithe only kid in gradeschool without a trapper keeper.

Got one at B&N for $115.xx after tax and shipping.
 
Did anyone else grimace when both tax AND shipping were applied. I can't remember the last time I had both. I think I had one of those epileptic seizures the warning screens are always going on about.
