It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

I don't understand why people want to use HP Play when you can just copy music folders over to it in hard drive mode and they just work.

But, I'm old school.
 
So I have a sorta off topic question regarding my internet setup, because I want to use my tablet in the basement while gaming. I'm on U-verse which uses a 2WIRE gateway which is on the top level of my house. The wifi from the gateway doesn't reach the basement. My gaming stuff is in the basement. I have an ethernet cord running from the gateway to basement which is for the gaming console. I have heard that range extenders / repeaters don't work with gateways like U-verse uses. Is there any way to attach a wifi router to the end of the ethernet cable and get wifi in the basement?

I've had mine since it was launched and I love it. I use it daily. It sits on it's touchstone here at work in my office and I listen to the radio and music on it (don't forget, it has awesome sound) - And I use it extensively for browsing multiple websites at once.

It's invaluable to have a smartphone that can act as a wifi hotspot with it so you can get on the net anywhere.

The calendar and email are pretty spectacular too, for those that want to be productive.

Since some people here seem to be the new unofficial experts, what's your advice on playing movies? I heard the KalemSoft player has trouble playing certain things, but I'll probably give it a shot. What EXACTLY type of videos can be played on the normal player though? I've tried videos which appear to be the same and one will work while the other doesn't. Definitely confusing and frustrating!

So far I've some decent games (I wish there were more demos for the games!!!!) and the productivity software is great for those who use it for that. Interface is pretty slick, graphics are great, sound is ok (but I do hate how the desktop has one volume control and then each app has it's own)...
 
I'm still stuck on item being processed from my Friday order from HP. I was hoping for a shipped notice this morning. Oh well, as long as it gets filled.
 
I'm thinking about just ordering from newegg and hoping for an adjustment but damn that's a lot of money to hope they would. I guess I'll stay up as late as I can and keep checking.
 
So glad I didn't try to get involved in ordering from HP SMB.

The first one I ordered was BB and I paid the $9 shipping to my house to avoid the crowds.

Second one is for a relative and bought from OnSale via Amazon for $105 w/shipping and tax.
 
Did anyone that ordered from OnSale from Amazon hear anything abour orders getting cancelled? My is still saying shipping now but they sold so many late last night it seems they might be cancelling orders.

Newegg's customer service is one of the best out there. If you order it, then call them, I'm sure you guys can work something out. They won't question your cancellation order.

I find it odd that the signal won't reach your basement. In my living room, my laptop sees seven Uverse routers including my own. Since neither of my neighbors have Uverse, it means I'm seeing routers from across the street and from the street behind ours. It really sounds like yours isn't putting out the signal it should.

Even if it is working exactly as it should, the installer shouldn't have installed it in a location in your house where your whole house can't receive signal. This is installer error, and if you call their support line and elevate up past the low level support drones you should be able to get them to come out and move it for you. The only problem you might have is if they put it in that room at your request AND the installer noted that request in their report.

If you don't want to mess with AT&T, I know that there were users on their forums who just used the 2WIRE as a modem and use their own wireless router behind it to actually distribute wi-fi through their house. It is not officially supported, but I am sure that there are users that do it. You should be able to find people in the uverse forums at ATT.com who will help you out.

How was it $105 with shipping and tax? It cost $101.50 before shipping and tax.

I ordered 2 from them and one from the MacMall site associated with them. The MacMall sent me a order confirmation and my Paypal wa charged but today my account says no order and after talking to their CS they said the order doesn't exist at this point and to reorder. Not a good start to the day.
 
I wish Best Buy would tell me if it is cancelled or not. There is a hold on my card and I can't cancel, but my dates still say null-null.

Probably because you ordered when they had them. Who knows it's worth a shot I ordered one a few hours ago but everyone is saying that B&N actually has no stock and they'll be canceled. Or yours just hasnt been canceled yet.
 
You guys w/ BB orders need to seriously calm the fuck down...

I've ordered online w/ them a bunch of times and when it says "null" it just means that the order is being prepared to ship out.

I was the one who first posted that Barnes and Noble had them (about 12:30 last night). I ordered immediately and both of my two orders were "shipping soon" and then cancelled. My guess is that Barnes and Noble won't ship any.
 
Well they are crashing on ebay now.. My buddy just got a 16g for only 125.00 with free shipping so that guy barely broke even after fees.. Best Buy sucks.. cancelled my in store pick ups and online order today.. Cross my fingers for Barnes and Noble.. Or I'll try ebay and just pay the extra 20..

Well I pulled the trigger at B&N. If they cancel my order...oh well. Worth a shot though because I wasn't going to camp outside a B&M store for one of these....since it will be more or less a novelty for me.

I see a lot of CBS Sports, but not ESPN...news, but not CNN...weather, but not The Weather Channel (they only seem to have a phone app)...unofficial Twitter apps, but not actual Twitter. And regarding games, you can use that condescending tone all you like, but games are important, and this thing has next to nothing.

I've tried both ways and have experienced problems with each method involving album artwork not showing up even though those same albums display perfectly in the Zune app, iTunes, and in the folder itself. HP Play was not properly unmounting the device when I hit the eject button.
