It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

That depends on how far of a drive it is. At one point I would go far and wide to grab a deal, even if it meant driving 30-45 minutes ONE WAY to get it. But with how YMMV and how off their stock locator has been at times lately I wouldn't risk it unless it were a 5-10 minute drive.

They aren't reflected yet, so your best bet is to have a print-out or give the item # so they can check it out themselves. Someone else said that they didn't have to ask for a price match. I mentioned earlier that you might be able to place a hold on an item if you call ahead. As usual, YMMV.

I often go with the cheapest but here when the difference is ~$4 and between knock off and manufacturer of the touchpad device, you're going to lose out. The materials will be shoddy and it won't last. Send me a message when it breaks to tell me I'm right.

I was just on that Website a few minutes ago and they were still full... Either I misread or it JUST happened. Going to see if I can do an store pickup if that's the case! My Wife is going right by there in a bit...

OK, I was using a different order status for SMB. I was using the one that was in my email that logs you into your account.

I just used the HP SMB order status from their main page, and it says my order is "admin/processing"... Is this good, or is this what it will have said the whole time?

Pretty sad customer experience though this whole thing. Basically in the end my order is probably going to end up shipping through HP which i was about 95% sure would get canceled when I ordered it. I'd love to cancel it since I already was able to buy one and free one up for someone else. . . Way to go HP.

My TigerDirect order arrived.. played around a bit... Sort of feels like going back in time to the beginnings of the iOS app store (and the beginning of the iPad app store I suppose, though I haven't played too much with the iPad) in that there's not a lot of stuff, and most of it is garbage (or just quick ports of pre-tablet stuff). Really strange that some of the "ports" seem to literally run in a virtual phone on the screen... The NYTimes app, for instance, does this, which is totally unreasonable for a news reading program... There doesn't seem to be any way to "enlarge" it either to fit the screen (even if it's with a crappy resolution).

Videos/flash seem to work ok, though having a lot of trouble with Amazon Prime's free movies... can't seem to get the movie into full screen without something weird happening to it (black bars, motion stops, etc). Hulu seemed to work fine. Speakers seem decent for something like this, so using it for Pandora or whatever seems reasonable (though again, this runs in a virtual phone).

And all sold out. "Not Available" for shipping or pick-up, and except for the Touchstone, they cost slightly more than at OD.
 
Has anyone had any luck checking out Best Buy stores that were on that spreadsheet? I called all the ones around me on the spreadsheet and bupkis.

Well, my insight order seems to have moved to "credit ok" now and it also shows "insight assigned carrier," though it sucks it has an estimated date of 9/6.
 
Anyone receive an email from HP SMB since they sent out "thank you" email on Monday. I ordered before Monday but I hadn't received any order #. Since they took down order status look up using login info, I can't track the status of my order.

yes they have, but make them price match office depot. Case 19.99, keyboard 29.99. Case is vert nice and would recommend it, slim, good feel and perfect fit. Keyboard just bought it for the hell of it, not bad wireless keyboard

no email either but i called and both of my order are "in the warehouse" whatever that means. id call and find out for myself instead of waiting. i ordered one sunday and one yesterday via the cart hack and both are in the same position.

Seems that this rush has been so crazy that people are reading the descriptions less and less. Seriously, HHI HP Touchpad Folio =/= HP Touchpad Folio. They even look different and the HP case only comes in black.

It all comes from China anyway. Can't get anymore exciting than that.

I'm having the same exact issue. Credit Card fully charged but no order # or tracking info. Also paid no shipping.

Question:

My package is here. For the longest, I was checking Amazon and USPS(I could've sworn Amazon's mentioned usps not fedex.) to see where my package was. Amazon was updating while USPS was not. I, just, read up on the FedEx Smart post which is a mixture of the 2.

My question is... My delivery date is scheduled for Thursday. It arrived to the facility this evening. Are they going to hold it till Thursday or will I get it tomorrow?

I have had packages sit in my city for a couple days before they were delivered. I would just expect to get it on Thursday. You can always contact Fedex in your city also and ask them if you can just come by and pick it up, though I dont know if they allow that.

UPS Mail Innovations and FedEx SmartPost rely on the USPS to get the package delivered to the destination. Just because it's in-town doesn't mean you'll get it in the next day. Most likely tomorrow, it'll go to the USPS branch that handles the destination, and then the following day it'll be delivered. It's rare for a package to be delivered the next day via UPS-MI or FedEx SP from the USPS.

If its UPS they would come earlier...also I had orders through Fedex came earlier than estimate.

Just because something has a 'brand name' slapped on it doesn't automatically make it 'better' than some generic version of the same thing.

Case in point: HDMI cables

There was someone in another thread a couple of days ago trying to talk up the 'value' of buying name brand cables over the $1-2 ones from eBay/Monoprice/NewEgg, as if that name or logo being on them suddenly made them more durable.

With a good portion of what we as consumers buy being made overseas nowadays, it's a good bet that the 'name brand' shit is being made in the same factories as the off brand stuff and is being made out of the exact same materials.

As for me, IF I even buy a case for this thing(it's gonna be in it's box when I'm not using it)I'll likely just buy one from Target on clearance for $5 or maybe even Dollar Tree if I can find one there.

Why? Because I'm cheap and don't wanna pay to have these things shipped or run all over looking for one. But if I find one I like and it's cheap enough I might just buy it.

I don't actually think this is dead. HP says they will have more stock soon. Pay attention to @BrynaAtHP as she says she will have an update soon. I'm guessing that means tonight, and I'm hoping it's a ballpark timeframe when orders will reopen.

I will leave 1 out of 5 if mine gets cancelled. I mean they could have let everyone know sooner at the least. I hope everyone leaves horrible feedback and they lose a lot of business.
