Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

This is getting sad. I have my email opened in a separate tab. Everytime I see I have a new email, I pray its from onSale. But it never is :( I don't even care if it's an email saying my order has been cancelled, I just want, no, I need some damn closure on this crap!

Tried calling and got the college kids when I gave them the sku they said their sold out nation wide when I asked if he can check shipping dates to stores he said call your local store for more info on that wtf..

So only bb in LA area that showed up with stock was pasadena store. I'm lined up about 30ish back. Rough estimate is around 150ish in line right now. If you're hoping to get it, you should get here really soon.
What is the HP trick?

If I ordered from the EPP, will it work for me?
I ordered with HP EPP Friday Night. Got the tracking for my one 16gig yesterday.
Anyone have this problem with their touchpad: my screen has grid marks on it. Seems like it could be wiped off only it's on the inside! I can barely see it when it's fully on and lit but it just bothers me.
If you're looking at it from an angle, what you're seeing is the digitizer that is on the LCD. It's what registers your touches on the screen.

So I've been refreshing Best Buy's inventory checker, and one about an hour away in the middle of nowhere came up as having stock. I'm really tempted, but I'd have to leave work for a couple of hours which would be a hassle. Is this thing accurate?

150 are already in line, and you think people even have a chance to still get down there? Err. Wouldnt they only have about 50 - 100 max?

Should we go ahead an nominate OnSale for best POS customer service award? Thes motherfuckers can't even give us an update on our orders and it's been way too long. I wonder if they would have oversold if they weren't a third party seller on Amazon since their website would have been down in 5 second.

Remember, there are no refunds, BUT it is fully under it's manufacturer's warranty. So if it's a unique problem to your tablet only and you want to get rid of it, just send it in for a repair. But I'd wait until after all this hecticness is over. Unless the warranty would expire before then, of course.

Some reports of stores in NY that got around 250. LA is a big city, so while it's unlikely, thy might get that much.

Same here. Every time I get a new e-mail on my phone I tell myself "There is the cancelation e-mail", I just need to fucking know OnSale!

Thanks,

It says my order is not found....

I placed my order 8/19/2011 9-XX EST...

I was pretty early placing the order buy hell, SMB orders from 8/22 are already shipped. Mine only says order processed, awaiting tracking details.

My BB order from Sunday morning is out for delivery on UPS today:whee:...

But my OnSale order for a relative is still showing shipping soon and none of us have heard a peep from them :bomb:!

Haha. I didn't even bother because I thought that store was closed already (for remodeling) and just giving a false report, like maybe someone forgot to put inventory at 0 before leaving. Now I'm really glad I didn't bother. It'll be kind of funny, though, if all those people are told the checker was wrong and there are none in the store or something.

That's what the Cheapy Awards are for ;).

Not In Stock says the store tonight....

Everybody's not having a good time...

OnSale gonna make you lose yo' mind....

They just see you...cancel it. (dubstep rift)
That's what the Cheapy Awards are for ;).
Yeah. I wish I could personally go to their offices and give them the awards. "Here you go, this is for magnificent customer service you provided to you customers when the TouchPad dropped in price. I HOPE YOU fuckING DIE, Thank you..."
Can somebdy post the BB invemtory checker please?
Hey Shriek, since you're on here, how about posting the BB link, FedEx tracking thing and whatever other glitch thats allowed CAGs to check info on these to the OP?

I don't want Best Buy to get more stock; that'd mean I'd have to rush down there and wait in line for hours with a slim chance of scoring one.
No, I was hoping that all shipments were sent straight to HP, including the ones from BB. That way everyone has a pretty easy chance of scoring one from the HP website.
Hey Shriek, since you're on here, how about posting the BB link, FedEx tracking thing and whatever other glitch thats allowed CAGs to check info on these to the OP?
The first post got turned into a wiki. Anyone can edit it, dont have to wait for Shrike.

So I called the store and they said they sold out 30 minutes ago, which is about right when the tracker started showing them as available. Either the tracker is really slow to update, or they sold out instantaneously, but this place is seriously in the middle of nowhere.

Bump that, I'd knock on their door, punch whoever answers in the face and chuck the award (if there really were one) at the receptionist and run!
The first post got turned into a wiki. Anyone can edit it, dont have to wait for Shrike.
I see. I'm on iPhone so won't even try it, lol.

I would walk right in there offices i bet a they have a few touchpads for employees take one say fuck u very much and leave onsale is a 2 bit shady company
Thank you!
Is the document tracker for BB not working for anyone else? When I enter my zip code it just takes me to a blank screen.

This is beyond pathetic.... neither Onsale nor Insight has ANY update on my order status for THREE DAYS now! They're sitting on the money, earning interest. Bastards. We need to take these companies down. Where is Anonymous when you need them?

Oh, and death to hoarders!
If Best Buy is getting new stock, I wonder if places like Amazon will get restocked too?
It's not really new stock in that sense. It's just whatever is left in their warehouses getting sent out to the stores to be sold. In the case of Amazon, they only have one store, so I'm pretty sure it has access to all the stock in the warehouses, so that when it says "Out of Stock" the only way to get more is to get it from the manufacturer, which we know is not going to happen in this case.
