It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

The Griffin one is nice and fits the touchpad well. It's not a perfect fit as the device slides around a little and the camera and button don't match up perfectly with their respected cutout. A small portion of the speakers are blocked by the case, but it does not appear to really dampen the sound. The case is very sturdy when sitting up sideways on a desk though a little tricky to sit it up at first. The headphone jack, power and the volume buttons are not blocked by anything.

My only real grip about the case is that when holding the device sideways, you cannot easily move your finger from the bottom in an upper motion to minimize an application because the leather boarder covers the small portion outside the screen.

Overall, not bad for $10.

The Archos 70. Got it last year for $220 (which was a really good deal then). It's a bit dated compared to what's available now, but it does just about everything I need (web browsing, Netflix, kindle/e-book, games, etc..). It also supports more video formats than the avg. tablet too.

Yes, judging from my past history with BB. I actually stopped shopping online there years ago when the Watchmen hit theaters, because they ended up charging me for a 1 year XBL subscription that came with a free ticket to see the Watchmen...but they had the subscription on backorder for a month. Then they canceled it, cuz they said they do that after a month of an item being out of stock. I asked for a refund(was like $50), they said no because I already used my free Watchmen ticket.

So, yes, BB will screw you over , no doubt. But you can dispute it with Customer Service.

Well it would have been 1:30 Central so that is 11:30 am Pacific. They have not sent me any shipping info. Just that the Folio is backordered. I cannot cancel the Touchstone so I assume that means it has been fulfilled.
 
Last night I recieved a box from FedEx shipped by HP.....containing my filler paper I ordered in order to use the coupon code I had.....super fail lol. I got overly excited when I noticed the HP label on the side of the box but it was a complete let down.

Good news tho, I came home from work this morning(graveyard shift) and checked my status on HPs website and my 32 GB order finally went from "item being processed" to "item shipped" and there are 2 seperate tracking numbers. So I'm in the clear(hopefully)!!! FedEx has yet to update on their end but I'm super stoked just to get a tracking number besides the tracking number for the paper I just recieved.

I ordered Friday from HP EPP about an hour after the deal went live (around 11pm central) right before the 32 G went OoS and I used the 30 off 150 coupon with the filler printer paper. Total was 133 bucks. So if u got in on the initial HP deal Friday night keep checking your status today!!

Yeah I would definitely raise a stink if they charge full price after giving the 20% off because their own system cannot do inventory. Will have to wait and see.
 
For guys interested....I just called HP Business because there was still a $1 authorization charge on my credit card from Sat. I ordered 4 Touchpads (by mistake every time I reloaded the cart added one and didn't show up until after credit card checkout). I gave him the numbers from my order he couldn't find it. Told him I just wanted to cancel, because there were too many on the order. He said, "Can't find it but I can force a new order in the system for you." I told him really? I said no thanks. Just wanted to make sure my order wasn't in the system. He tried a couple of more times, but I said no and I thought you guys were sold out? He said we have a few reserves left. I said good to know. Sorry guys needed my credit card money for something else lol.

That's definitely good news. I also got the paper from HP but it still shows item in process for both the paper and the Touchpad. Ordered on Friday night through HP Academy. I just want an update!

Thanks for the update, I ordered mine around the same time on the HP Academy site and still don't have a tracking number. Got an email a few days back saying they should ship those all out by Thursday (today).
 
Just so everybody knows here, Hulu has made is so you can no longer use the TouchPad to stream their site. I messaged them and this is the second response I got...

"I understand the confusion. What it comes down to is although your device acts like a PC, it is still a tablet device which requires a separate set of requirements to stream Hulu content to it. As Devin had mentioned, "Unfortunately, due to the contractual agreements with our content providers, we have to have a certain set of agreements set up with a device manufacturer before we can provide support for that device. We have no partnership with WebOS or HP at this time, so we can't currently stream through their device." The service was not meant to had been able to stream on the TouchPad , so I do apologize for the sudden removal of the service but I do not have any information as to how it had been functioning properly in the first place."
 
My order from HP Home Office at 9PM Friday just got a tracking number. Hoping that means it's out the door and on the way.
Edit: I did order with standard shipping (5-7 days)
Edit#2: This was an academy order, I still have not gotten a shipping email, I just checked hp.com randomly.

walked into my local best buy in Easton, PA at 1130 am. There were people there since they opened at 10 am (?? not sure if thats the hours). Only about 10 people. I asked about the HP Touchpad. They said they are on the way. I got a ticket for a 32 GB. 30 mins later walked out with one. DID NOT expect that to happen today. haha. My wife was pretty excited.

It's funny that the device can but they won't let it. I feel bad for hulu. Their corporate masters not letting them do this and that is killing them

There's a homebrew one if you do the Preware thing that *seems* to work. I won't claim to have noticed much yet.

Looking slimmer for me getting one bb,om,staples,of all say out of stock and never getting more. Any kind cags have an extra they could throw me it would be appreciated
 
Went to my local Best Buy in Salem, Ore and talked to an associate in the computer section and she told me that they don't have anymore but that they get a truck on Thursdays. Everything that I have read on here is stating that these are coming in Fedex to the stores. So should I camp down there at noon and hope some arrive or go down there at 6:eek:opm when they begin to unload there truck. I am so confused...

There's a Hulu fix but it looks a little complicated... some devs will probably release a patcher for it soon (I can only hope).


  1. Working Hulu access for HP Touchpad
  2. GET:
  3. hexeditor, HxD
  4. Palm webos sdk
  5. usb cable, hint: it came with the tablet.
  6. DO:
  7. MAKE SURE THE TOUCHPAD WEB BROWSER IS CLOSED.
  8. Turn on developer mode, google for help.
  9. install sdk, google for help.
  10. Add novaterm to sdk.
  11. Once you have a working Novaterm connection to the touchpad
  12. cp /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so /media/internal/libflashplayer.so
  13. mv /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so.bak
  14. Ok, so now we have a backup of the plugin, and a copy we can mod. End the novaterm session and access the standard usb flash storage. google for help.
  15. open libflashplayer.so in your hexeditor, search for "WEB 10" you will find it @ offset 67F184. Now just change the E to I and the B to N. Save the file.
  16. Eject the flash drive via safely remove hardware. Restart novaterm connection.
  17. cp /media/internal/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so
  18. chmod 755 /usr/lib/BrowserServerPlugins/libflashplayer.so
  19. That should do it. Start browser and check out great content like Lady Gaga in a bikini.
  20. Perhaps a nice dev will write a little patcher that makes this easier.

I've been contemplating in my head how the HP second sale will work. If they announce a time, they prepare everyone and their dog to break the site. If they just go live, it trickles in until finally getting hit and crippled. Do they limit number per person this even if its for clearance? So many unknowns.
