Since everyone is asking for people to get them one when they can't find one on their own, let's try to keep the requests to this thread here:

Dear webOS developer:

We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

fuck YES! I just got home and checked my order status at HP and I finally got a tracking # for my touchpad! It shipped today and is set to arrive on Saturday. My touchstone and case from OD are set to arrive on Monday. I ordered the touchpad on Friday night from HP Academy. Woohoo!
Whats the date on it? I didn't receive one, but would be nice if I do.
Date is today, mine was timestamped 5:33 pm (EST). I made my post within minutes of getting the email.
I see what ya'll mean about the fingerprints. I'm going to do my search for a Matte / Anti Glare screen protector now! Should be $10 or less. Someone on Amazon has them for $4.99 plus shipping, but doesn't get them in until Sept.5.
I ordered the ones from handheld items on amazon yesterday.. I figured I could wait until Sept 5th & I would just leave the plastic on. It shipped last night apparently.

When did you order? Was it SMB?

Around 11PM EST from HP Academy. I'm not sure if it's the same as SMB but I know it's the same as Home & Home Office.

I did not get one yet either, as my order was also canceled.

More importantly, what will OnSale give out?

So here's a question...hoping my fellow CAGers can help me out...

Does anyone know what games actually exist on the HP tablet. I'm sure it's been touched on in the near 400 page forum discussion, but I don't have the time to look through, especially since most of the posts are about "when is it shipping" e.g.

Someone mentioned an SNES emulator for the HP Touchpad, but what other games are there? Does gameloft have any games? I know they have palm pre webOS games...
Checked the tracker at 9:30 this morning, local BB said they had it in stock. Got there at 10:15 and already a huge line.

Not to mention the 40 or so more people behind me. They only had about 15 so I left empty handed.
Wow, your BB must be fancy if it has a produce section! :D

man these things are fun, playing with my 32gb that came in. Just activated the free 50gb on box.net so I think I'm set on size heh guess that takes care of it not having a microsd slot

how do you get 50gb??

Dammit! I just realized im receiving my paper tomorrow and the HP touchpad on Saturday. I am still pissed my other 2 orders do not have tracking numbers. Is HP planning to just ship 1 per person now? If so give me my 260 or so dollars back for the other 2 i already got charged for !
Has anyone else noticed that the HP website has switched from "Coming Soon" to "Out of Stock?"
That happened about 12 hours ago.

Best touchpad dick move: get into retailer line and receive your tablet. Turn around and sell it to those in line turned away for profit.

lol keep passing until it ran out.

I have to say, I am excited to get mine tomorrow... but there's this nagging little voice in the back of my mind saying "You could get $300 for this and be up $200 by monday night..."
That's what I get for sleeping and then having a busy day at work. Damn you job!
Don't worry, it went straight from coming soon to sold out. They were never put back up for sale.

I have toiled all week, placed two orders that went nowhere, and now... just when I am so close...

Today I visited my local Best Buy four times throughout the day. Stood outside by myself before store opening without knowing whether stock would arrive.

Long story short, some truly good employees helped me out and tried to get me a ticket since I had made the effort to come out.

The ticket wouldn't print.

They told me to come back at one. I came back at 12:05 and got in a line of 12 people. One o'clock comes and we finally get our tickets, but can't get our tablets because the truck hasn't arrived.

Told to come back between 3:00 and 8:00.

I stop by after work just now--no tablets.

THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN.

Now, they'll extend the pick-up time to store close, but if the truck doesn't get in and the tablets don't get off the truck--WE'LL HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN TOMORROW WITH NEW TICKETS.

AAAARRRGGHHHH!

Your application for employment has been approved. Here's your neckbeard and the process to properly mouthbreate.

a best buy store in my area had a sign saying they weren't receiving anymore shipments.

of course, I don't know whether to believe them or not, so I'll check their stock after close today, for the morning.

at this point, I'm banking on the hp restock
Slickdeals called. Your application for employment has been approved. Here's your neckbeard and the process to properly mouthbreate.
Thank you sir. You gave me a 10 second break of laughter in an otherwards miserable day.
Typically, it is not their policy to match online prices.
Usually no, but ever since most stores have been doing the Pick Up Today thing it's hard to justify to customers why we're not matching our own site (I work electronics at a different walmart in the area).
What was in store price for case? I've never got them to match online price so I'm curious the difference.
Still the old msrp $79.99 for the charger and $49.99 for the case. When I asked for them I was told by the employee that they don't price match the site, so I just asked for a manager to talk to. They would have needed to call them even if it were ok, since it's a price override of more than 50% and $20.

i would have jumped on this deal if i didnt have a tablet all ready got the nook color back in feb friend got the hp touchpad so i can always try it but truly a great deal for anyone that got it for the price

I went to my local Best Buy this afternoon and as I expected they had none in stock. By change the person that I asked happened to be the on duty manager and she was extremely nice and helpful. She told me that she was told that they would be getting more shipments this week, however HQ didn't say when the shipments would be coming. She did say that they would either be coming in later today or Friday as they never get shipments on weekends.
I sent a message to Abe's of Maine via Amazon and this is what he wrote:
Did you ask if you were allowed to buy it?

Don't all central Ohio locations said the same thing. 4 of them have gotten shipments in the last 2 days. They probably aren't tryin to lie to you, but instead are misinformed.

Last memo that went out was a recall because BB didn't want to eat the cost of full price product cut to $99/$149. Since then HP sent a memo to higher ups saying that it was ok to sell them as HP would reimburse them. Most trucks that were supposed to contain them were cancelled at first. Many of the stores are getting "special" shipments in of touchpads through 2nd trucks or even fedex. Some still get them on the regular truck.

Either they are misinformed or are tired of getting asked a thousand times a day. Even if they were to say they were coming in at this day/time then there would still be pissed off people that show up and don't get one.

I'm still in the hunt for one. Two reasons I want it: the speakers, they sound MUCH better than the iPad and to use as an alarm with a touchstone

You will be lucky to get $200 for the 16 gig. Honestly.

Tell me about it I was thinking the same thing and I how I could put that money to a refurbished ipad

I'm still loooking for a 2nd one, but I'm lucky I got my 16GB first one. I placed an order on Bestbuy.com for the charger, case and two Rocketfish accessories for the Nook ($1.99) so I got a 20% discount on everything.

Can you leave the Touchpad on the charger for extended periods of time, or will that hurt the battery?
Did you ask if you were allowed to buy it?
Yeah I did ask but I wasn't clear if they allowed me to buy it @ discounted price.

My battery got warm sitting in the charger. Excessive heat damages a battery's efficiency (remember how our parents would put batteries in the fridge to extend their life?). Ergo, I wouldn't leave it in the charger for a long time.

Except every single auction has ended over $200, with most over $230 and some over $250. if you're going to say something, do try and back it up
