It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

My Onsale order was canceled but I've been looking at tablets and I saw a nice budget one come out today. Its called the X10 Airpad the specs sound really good on it. It has a 7" capacitive screen Android 2.3, front facing 2 MP camera and video recording and HDMI output. The only cons are that it only has 4GB onboard storage but it has a Micro Sd card slot so not really a problem and the 800x480 resolution. I'll probably wait till I get a good discount on it
 
Does anyone know what changes were made in the latest update? (3.0.2 68 or something like that) Has anyone with preware installed it and not having issues?

It took a long time for me to update as well...Each time the progress bar moved, it keeps reverting back to the beginning. I decided to research and found a way to update with webOS doctor. Worked the first time I tried it!

Precentral went through it here. As for preware, I'm having issues installing it. It hangs on the .ipk package and I've had to close it several times. I'm trying to download the update but I'm still unable to connect.

I'm going to do the webOS 3.0.2 update, then install preware to see if that works.

Hmmmm....Fedex has an anticipated ship date of 8/25 with an arrival date of 8/27. I really hope I get the touchpad on Saturday before the hurricane hits.

I passed on one the other day, and shouldn't have.
 
Received my package today, I was kinda worried that I'm gonna get a defect item cause of bad packaging. Best buy only put in plastic bag and that's it, no padding or bubble or anything. Looks like they got tired shipping all this item.

I find it more annoying that there were those who bought TONS of them just to sell them for almost 3 times the cost. I saw a guy on Ebay with 50-70 of them and seems to have sold them all. Now I remember the Fairytale fights deal a while back and I took advantage getting around 10 copies and trading them in for credit but I feel like anyone who got more than 3 of these is kind of an ass. Unless they intend to use them. I know if I can get 2 of them one is for me to take in my work truck the other is for my wife.
 
Anyone try updating via tethering it to a Mac? Mine were delivered to my g/f's and I'll be over there Saturday and if I can DL all the updates onto my lappy and then hardwire it to the TP, that would be convenient.

As smug as the guy I saw in a Memphis Best Buy was towards another customer last night, I was tempted to ask if they could add employee's trunks to the tracker.
Guy wasn't being pushy, you could tell he was almost embarrassed to ask. Employee just shook his head no at every question not saying a word.

I know they are tired of answering the question, but don't be an arrogant prick.

Ha, glad I didn't decide to sneak into work late this morning and head out to check the BB's in memphis now.
 
Went looking for for a cover before mine is delivered and happened to walk into best buy as they were rolling out a cart full of touchpads. Guess everyone who said they do shipments in tuesdays and thursdays were right. They did say it would be the last shipment so take that as you will they may or may not know for sure.
 
I thought people were just dogging onsale as a retailer. The whole items rating on amazon is being killed because people are reviewing their failed transaction for the product.

Sigh. I hope I manage to get one. I want to use this for typing in my classes, websurfing and watching videos.
If I manage to bag one can anyone tell me how language support is for these? Will I be able to add Japanese and Korean text support for it, non-Android?
 
I am amazed HP finally sent my touchpad...WOotwOot They also upgraded my shipping to two day shipping so I'll have it this weekend yes! My touch pad will arrive nearly 4 days before my junk item comes in.
 
I'm somewhat worried about the home/back button wearing out eventually. Plus I don't really like the "feel" of it. Is there a soft way to go back to the desktop or home area or whatever it's called instead of physically pressing the button?

ebay, Cl prices will drop. More of these will become available . If you want 1 you will get it . Prob not @ $99,$149 but still @ a decent price well under any other tablet in it class. HW wise

Wish I would have thought of that a few years ago when people were paying double for the ORIGINAL MSRP for a Wii. I would be a billionaire.

Still, I don't understand what the problem is with people selling them on ebay. Less than 2 weeks ago, getting these tablets for $250-300 would have been 1/2 price. The MSRP has dropped, but supply is not available, so you cannot actually get them for $99-150.

I don't get HP's logic on this, because obviously, they could have seriously increased sales just by dropping the price to $300 as the features of the tablet are worth it. Must be a tax write off or just trying to get in on the Obama bailout list.

Its a $100 tablet whats to worry about? You'll only get 1-3 yrs of use out of it before you'll either buy another one or junk it due to it being dated or the battery craps out. I wouldn't worry about the home key if I were you. I'm sure they were tested for several millions of presses.
 
I'm torn between keeping or selling my TouchPad once it arrives in the mail. On one hand I could make some serious bank, but on the other hand it would be convenient for me since I am in school right now and just have my home desktop to work on. Decisions, decisions.
