It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

Finally got one. My wife went to the BB near our house last night after calling them. The online tracker said "Unavailable", but they still had some 32GB in stock. :bouncy: Now if only I could find a 16GB for my father.

I'm glad this sale happened, it has allowed me to discover the world of CAG.

Unless something has changed recently they only charge a maximum of $200 (I think) in FVF. I can't remember the exact number but it is capped.

Yeah I'm a bit hacked off on that. Grabbed Sparkle and Glimpse but I really just wanted the Camera. Of course it wouldn't show up and I spent all night ant his morning after update it shows up first thing....to say all promo codes used. :bomb: I know its only a buck, but it's something that should have been standard in the first place.

I believe the promo code mechanism requires it to have a max number of uses. I have a feeling they will remedy this today and reset them.
 
I hit up a couple BB last night with no luck, mainly did it because I had nothing better to do, even though the tracker said they had none. I may hit up a couple Kmarts and Radio Shacks just in case. Nothing better to do on my day off. Haha I really want to get one of these. -_-
 
Love having a brother in college. He went to the Best Buy store in Muncie, IN to get a touchpad for his girlfriend and I asked him to check on picking up a touchstone for me. He was 7th in line and he got the only official hp case they had (for his girlfriend's touchpad) and the only touchstone. Apparently everyone was more worried about getting the touchpad than they were the accessories. WOOT!
 
Morning fellow Touchpad hunters. Here's to hoping that today is the day that HP puts up more stock for sale. With my luck they're going to wait until the exact moment I'm away from my computer and I'll miss out :(. Even better, all my accessories are shipping to Best Buy now and will be waiting for me to pick them up early next week. Haha!

Anyone around the DE area just a heads up the Verizon Store on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington has around 10 Giffen Folio cases for $10. I just picked this up yesterday and it fits perfectly.

sadly I'm leaving on vacation 9/8, watch it not arrive in time and get sent back now...I'll be SO pissed

Did you have to wait in line?

I am dying to get one but refuse to wait in a line for hours like it's BF. I also wont pay $300 on Fleabay if I can just spend a bit more and get a live and kicking tablet.

Sigh. I still have an order from HP SMB but we all know those will probably get cancelled eventually. My ship date says 8/29 now. Very doubtful on this one.

Was that your first email from them? I received my confirmation email on the 21st, but nothing since. When I check the status, it just says "date to follow". Just want to see where I am at compared to others.
 
Hey everyone, it has been a lot of fun hunting with you. I managed to snag a 16gb today at Best Buy. If any CAGs were at the Downingtown, PA store this morning, I probably saw you.

Story:

I got there at 7:45 and ended up being 30th in line. No one knew how much was in stock and I ended up having a nice chat with some SlickDeals guys. Surprisingly they didn't talk about flipping or profits. At 8:30 a BB employee came out and said they were going to start handing out tickets, 1 per person. Everyone in line when he started got a ticket, but he ran out as the last guy came running up. There was about 70 people there and at 9am they let us in 15 at a time to purchase our Touchpads.

Good luck to all of you still looking, HP should pull through eventually.
 
Gah, just went by my nearest store, and there were people lined up all the way down to the TJ Maxx next door. Wanted to grab one for my sister, but I don't know if it's gonna happen...so glad I snagged mine first thing on the first Saturday morning at Wally World.

No waiting in line. She started calling the store when she left work and it took them 15 min. to answer the phone, by that point she was 5 minutes away when they told her that some 32 GB were in stock. They did refused to tell her how many they had and would only let her purchase one.

I also ordered on the 20th, got a confirmation on the 21st. It was scheduled to ship out today. But instead of shipping, the hold on my debit card disappeared! So I'm hoping I can snag one today.

But when I check my order status it says it's still at admin. He said it's not updated regularly, assured me it would ship. I have nothing else to go by except for what I was told.

hmm. When I type in my email and password, it pulls up my order, but when I click on it, it comes up with a data error. When I check my status on the other order status page where you enter your order #, I get information there. It originally had a ship date of tomorrow, then changed to date will follow. Hmm. I called yesterday and my orders still appear to be active, but with no info. I placed the order for myself around 6:00 pm on the 20th, and the order for my mother-in-law around 11:00am on the 21st.
 
Is the kiosk "in-store availability" counter real-time at BB?
Went to store at opening who said they were out, but that shows 2 16GBs and 5 32GB's. Just wondering if "We're out now" is code for "the ones stashed in the back by employees who haven't had a break yet"

Similar story here. Ordered 8/21, same emails and timing from HP, only difference here is that I show an estimated ship date of 8/23, credit approved 8/25.

Edit: I see, if you click on the Line Item Detail link at the footer of your order page, it will show some more fields. I have a Requested Ship Date of 9/6

untill this morning that page gave me an error when I'd click to view my order. Now it shows an order invoice w/ all the information on it.

Leads me to assume that once that invoice pops up instead of the error, that you're guarenteed a touchpad. It's just a matter of when at that point

I would say its delayed, but could be a lot of things too. Yesterday I was going 50 mins to pick up my mom (car died) and the Bestbuy there was shocking "in stock only". Upon calling they ALSO confirmed they were on floor. 80 mins later (lots of construction/rush hour) I got there where it STILL said in store only and they had CLAIMED there was a huge line where they all went.

Now if the case is someone had one walking around, some hidden in the back, or some other crazy story... it still said in store only for another 30 mins.

I dunno. That status page USED to show me my invoices, with the estimated ship dates and everything, then it started to error. Who knows. I got order confirmation emails on Sunday. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens. I have spent WAY to much time on this...lol.

This waiting and checking the sites constantly is killing me! lol
I am so burnt out on trying to get my girlfriend one it's ridiculous.
I don't think I've gotten more than 8 hours sleep this week. Even with the tweets the past couple days saying there wouldn't be any new info I am still getting a few times up in the middle of the night & checking HP and CAG. Then coming to work and checking all day long.

I really wish I had just ordered 2 in the first place & ignored her saying she didn't want one.

Edit: anyone here have an experience with the Viewsonic G Tablet? Maybe I should just get one of those and give the GF my 32gb.
 
Just scored a 32gb at BB! :) Called last night & they said they would be selling them this morning. They opened at 9:00, I got there at 8:00 & was the first one in line. Very happy about this. :)
 
Sent the wife to BB near here that showed them in stock. 40 people in line and tickets had already been depleted before she got there.

Bummer.

My Line Item Detail page shows:
Qty Order = 1
Qty Alloc = 0
Qty B/O = 1 (backordered)
Qty Invcd = 0

Hopefully the backorders will be filled.

Finally got around to playing with my TP last night. Good first impressions. I found that I enjoyed web surfing more on the TP than on the netbook I got on clearance at TRU recently. The "deck of cards" layout is pretty intuitive. Listened to music and the beats audio speakers sound really good. I also tried out my TP with the official HP folio case. I like that I'm able to use it as a stand. Then I tried putting it on my lap. The stand gave me a comfortable angle to access the TP while it was on my lap. So if you get a chance to nab the official case, I recommend it! I got mine at OD for $19.99.

I do have one question: how do I know when the TP is fully charged when I have it charging? (other than turning it on and checking the battery level)

Wow. If they're gonna be charging more for their next batch, will HP.com be doing the same thing? Can you imagine if we all sat patiently waiting to make a move on hp, only to find out it's now $200/300? :D
