We have opened the next chapter for webOS, and we understand that you must have many questions. Yesterday we announced that we will focus on the future of webOS as a software platform but we will no longer be producing webOS devices. While this was a difficult decision, it's one that will strengthen our ability to focus on further innovating with webOS as we forge our path forward. Throughout this journey, our developers will continue to be a vital part of the future of webOS.

We will continue to support, innovate and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem.

As many of you are aware, we are currently scheduled to hold many developer events around the world. We are planning to continue with these events, however, due to the recent announcements; the nature of them will change. These updates will be posted on our events registration site this coming week. We are eager to present to you the updated strategy for webOS and to hear your feedback.

Lastly, I wish to express our sincere appreciation for your ongoing support for webOS and the many teams responsible for it here at HP. This is a particularly dynamic time in the mobile industry and sometimes tough decisions need to be made about not only what to do, but also what not to do. This has been one of those times. Together with our great webOS developer community, we are confident that we will meet the challenges ahead and build momentum for optimal success.

We will be communicating with you frequently over the next few weeks and we look forward to hearing from you throughout this process.

Thanks for your support

It may be a futile, doomed effort, but they aren't killing and totally orphaning the Touchpad. Yeah, it's going to be limited, but it's ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS! A 9.7" tablet with Gorilla Glass screen for a C-note. Hell, I'm gonna get one just cuz! There's a Kindle app, so BAM!!! $100 eReader!

They don't need hindsight anymore; the firesale is done. The hype is still surrounding it,though. Cranking the price up another $50- 100 for the next batch, and not many people are gonna' mind too much. They're still gonna make it their mission to spend a week hunting it down. They already think they want it, just from the hype/wait alone. They already spent a week searching for one, they'll probably choose not to make it all in vein; they'll settle for the higher price. IMO, that is.
A) You need to learn to spell.

Dude that's how I talk online you don't like how I spell then kick rock. Did you even read my reply to the other user? I'm willing to set up an ebay private auction too. When did I say that I expect some one to pay me and shipped. So many dumbass here lol. Always assuming shiet.
good thing your not buying it from me then. and good thing I ain't gonna sell it to your ass either. First of all that offer was just a way for me to say thanks cuz my HP SMB order might never ship. Although by some chance it does ship then anoher CAGs that was hunting for a touchpad for a whole week won't be in vain. I'm set dude I got my shiet on lock it's coming tommorow through onsale. This offer was a sign of good faith for CAGs member that help me out but it seem like this went totally opposite from what I thought. If you don't think it's legit that's your own problem. I'm done with this shiet.
While some members may not have conveyed the thought appropriately, I'm sure you can understand that it is difficult, being new, to do a transaction like this.

You could be a great person (!) but you're also an unknown. There's no offense meant.

Ok stop acting like a prick and arguing like a 10 year old. Either you receive money first and then send the Touchpad or you send the Touchpad first and receive money later. Both can't be done at the same time. You basically told killer9 that he shud just eff off if he expects you to send the Touchpad first. So genius, doesn't that mean you want the money before you send the Touchpad. And as for your ebay private auction post, please check the timeline. It was clearly after you ran your mouth off.

Finally an understand CAGer lol thanks dude I know I'm new but I don't think I should treated this way man. I mean we all gotta start somewhere right.

I got one of the 16gb models for $100 from BestBuy.com with the free shipping. If not for the free shipping and the $100 pricetag I would NOT have bought ANY of these.

Don't get me wrong though, I also bought a 32gb from Best Buy's one store here for $159 after tax, but that was to not have wasted a trip up there.

I actually already have both sold to fellow CAG's(including one local CAG), but more and more I'm leaning towards keeping the smaller of the two to mess with for a bit.;)

You should realize that you came across with a first comment as an ass, but as said earlier - you probably aren't. Since you haven't become an actual member it seems as opposed to an HP hoarder (don't think I am saying you are) you don't seem to see how most CAGs cover each others' backs. I gave mine away sadly....but I don't regret it since I gave it to my girlfriend who I drove over and woke up to give it to. That is my story so I could have kept it but I chose not to.

Anyways - if you want redemption give it to a CAG or something who offers you a game as that is what we primarily are - cheapassGAMERs. Just make them pay for shipping/what it cost.

Hope you join the community though, just watch what you say till we get to September (your first month over ;) )

Anyways - welcome aboard mate!

EDIT: If you ordered one from HP and are going to get one....I am down to buy off you :)?

Ok listen obviously I'm not gonna send the touch pad first cause I could get rip off that's what I mean. I don't now how you people trade buy and sell around here. I was thinking of doing through ebay anyway cause they cover cost plus shipping now. Do you get it now?

Its all about trust my friend, don't worry about us since we all are honorable - person who has the higher feedback has upper hand being more honorable....anyways just don't post anymore here in this thread/make a list and its all good :)

Exactly, that's the same problem people have. How can they send you money first without a fear of you ripping them off. That's why I said you need to read the CAG buying/trading rules. The trading rule in CAG is the person with the lower feedback sends his product first before the other guys sends his stuff. You can get ripped off but you should look at trading feedback etc before doing a trade since there is no buyer protection. So killer9 was basically following CAG rules when he said he expected you to send the touchpad first. You obviously didn't know the rules and if you were thinking of ebay you should have said that before you ran your mouth off. I'm sorry but it was you who didn't get my posts.

all right arsenal you're right I should have read the trading rule b4 posting up the offer.

Urgh. I passed on the HP case when they price drop and now I want one. I don't want to pay more than $20 for one and every store around me is sold out.

that 8-2 is getting on your head
Exactly. At $250, I may have passed completely, as I didn't need one that bad.
I wouldn't have bought one either. I really wanted one when they first released but I already owned an iPad and couldn't afford $500 for something that basically did the same thing. At $99 it was a no brainer.

HP's in an interesting place now. Mind share is very high right now and they can obviously sell these for a lot more then $99. On some planet it might make sense to have some more of these manufactured for $250 and $300 try to continue the line for awhile.
Urgh. I passed on the HP case when they price drop and now I want one. I don't want to pay more than $20 for one and every store around me is sold out.
I was in the same place for the touchstone. I was going to wait for them to drop in price a little more but then they started selling out and prices started getting higher. I finally paid a little more for a touchstone from amazon but still have my eye on a case.

I'm guessing once accessories sell out that's it. I'm assuming they won't be making any more of them? Unless of course they decide to start making the touchpad again at reduced prices.

Yeah, it sucked cuz I thought they would go crazy low like $10 a pop (yeah I'm a cheap ass, but who isn't?). I should've pulled the trigger and return it later if I didn't like it. Well, all is not lost cuz there are a million cases out there. I guess I have to go shopping and dress my HP for size.

I also wouldnt have bought one at $250...

I would have paid $150 for the 16GB and probably $179 or so for the 32GB. I think most people at the least would have still bit at $150 for the 16GB. Why they sold them at $100 is beyond me. I'm sure glad they did though :)

The only reason I got the official case and Touchstone was because I had a decent amount of Best Buy credit and they were both 50% off, and I'm glad I did. The case is decent but it rocks that it charges through the case on the Touchstone.

They they definitely still would've sold through at $150/$200 easily, and you might've knocked off some of the flippers that way, too. At least the ones who bought like 20 of them.

This whole argument is getting out of hand is quite stupid. Not only are we bicking about someones rep, but an item that may or may not exist in their possession at any point in the future.

This isn't ebay, amazon, paypal, or any other service... so we have no protection. In addition most people follow the CAG rules and thats lowest rep ships first. Now just because you might HAVE to ship first to deal with a CAG here; you're in no way obligated to ship to anyone. There are a few CAGs with 100+ trade reps and there are many other things.

However when you go in defending your rep and calling people out; then you're going to get attacked. Most frequent members here go though the same cycles and it's not like you were the first, last, only or even first hundred to have it happen.

The sad irony is that if you stated your case with proper respect and didnt assume that "YunWun" and a history of lurking commanded much respect. Many people will deal with those who would simply go "I would gladly ship first, but this is a higher priced item and worth 3 brand new games. Is there any chance we could work something out?" I know some CAGs would be willing to do half now and half later. Some might flat out pay and others will give you the time of day if you gave people respect. You're not just given respect after all, it is earned though a series of actions.

amazon has the official case for $30 with FSSS if you do get desperate. I don't want one that badly so I'll either wait or go without. I like the touchpad out of a case but its kind of a pain to type on without something propping it up.

Yeah, I'm not that desperate. I only want it cuz my touchpad is a fingerprint magnet. I want to be able to able to put my touchpad in my purse and not get scratch. So for the time being, it's sitting in my room with no protection.

there were several stories right before the fire sale that said retailers were leaning on HP to take the unsold units back. I think $99 was the perfect price to move a bunch of them and clearance them out. I don't think anyone could have predicted what really ended up happening.

I think this was handled poorly by HP who caught retailers by surprise and have kind of created the chaos that buying one of these has become. This is the tickle me Elmo of this year with people all of the sudden deciding they had to have something they didn't really plan on buying. Lets not forget the flippers who made it hard on the everyday person to pick one of these up and kept the perfect storm going.

People looking for a case might wanna check this out. There are tons of different ones on amazon and eBay and the prices are decent.

Acase for ~$20 + shipping (picked one up for myself - looks nicer and better covering than the HP version).

These people ship INSANELY FAST!!! This is the same case. I recommend not pushing it all the way into the slot when using it as a stand. Leave 2-3 millimeters so it doesn't tip over.

I like it. Under $12 and FAST FREE SHIPPING!!!!!:D:applause:

OT(kinda)
I saw the EXACT same headphones on walmart.com 1 time, for $19, that I got on eBay for $10 with free shipping.

Interesting... I think HP has confused the entire tablet market.
I got the Acase (1st link), which I think is different than the one in the eBay link you posted.
Nope. It has embossing, white stitching, and a couple of extra cut-outs on the front, but it's the same.

apple doesnt have to rethink their pricing point. when jobs says jump his cult says how high. android will have to get creative and windows tablets might be DOA.

Those $12 cases might be crappy if theyre the same cheap ones Buy.com is selling. Someone I think said they're too big. I dont really know though not having one. I understand being cheap but I'd personally try to not skimp on the quality of a case.

I have the giffen case and it fits great. I put some Velcro on the door to keep it closed and some on the inside flap to help hold the to in place.

i bought the "same" case but the brand is poetic

The pads share a lot of similarities from the pictures i seen except for this white stitch on the borders.
Of course, it may be a different quality of product than the Poetic one

Yeah I read that too on amazon about a great case I was going to buy.

I really didn't want to end up with a case that didn't fit the Touchpad 100% or obstructed any of the features, so I just bit the bullet and bought two from the HP website for 29.99. Used the $10 off $50 coupon that I got when I made a new account so they ended up coming out to about $27 a piece after tax (with free shipping). Not terrible, but at least I know it'll be completely compatible and work with the Touchstone. Frankly, I got sick of looking for cases. One less thing I have to worry about now.

Do you have the poetic one now? I was thinking about getting that one. That and the Technocel for the Ipad 1 were basically the 2 I was debating on before I got the HP cases PM'd.
