I got news of a potentially HUGE anime sale scheduled to start at approximately 460 Best Buy stores starting on 3/1/09 through 3/21/09.

ICv2 has obtained a list of the Best Buy stores that will be running 50% off close-out sales on anime beginning March 1st (see “Best Buy’s New Anime Strategy”) (article link is at bottom of this post). I just ordered Negima!? Session 2 volume 2 today at the kiosk it was 22 bucks. I'm a prem. silver member so I get free shipping =)

However I was kinda worried about using my credit card on a public computer. So I just bought a Best Buy gift card then walked to the kiosk. I also had 5 bucks in reward zone points they the only billed my gift card 18 bucks.

It retails for $80. I think i can take a damaged product ;). On my other note though, anyone know where to get the first 2 kenshin boxsets, considering the MSRP is so high? Amazon has the first for $39, which isn't bad, but how about Set 2?

Ah, yes, that's the one. Daphne I would recommend getting, but then again, I only seen the first disc, so it's an unfair recommendation if it's all entirely like Hogan's Run. I mean it's a "dystopia" anime, reminding me of several 70s Scifi films where they focused on living in the future and how crappy it really can be. Logan's Run, THX 1138, etc, etc. I do seem to remember her being on the run until some group finds her and takes her in, but my mind is hazy on that part and I think that's as far as I had watched. It's on my wish list, but I've never managed to find it cheap anywhere. I think it's one of those overpriced $100.00 box sets when it should have been around $40.00.

I think Divergence Eve has a spin-off called Misaki Chronicles. Look at the images, Divergence Eve/Misaki Chronicles/Daphne. Hot spacey skin tight outfit harem chicks. Easy to confuse at first glance, yes?

Hey, you can put your CC number into their system at home and it'll work whenever you're at the kiosk. I just done this yesterday and all they wanted is that 3 number code on the back of your card. I did not have to type my CC number in. So it should be safe for you to order without using a gift card.
 
Went to a Best Buy not too far from me, got the last The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Complete Collection set, used the $3 coupon and used the $20 giftcard I got with RE5 (via Toys R Us price matching) and paid $.81 as the remaining balance.

So $65.81 (including tax) for Resident Evil 5 and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is not bad I think...

You can buy the singles at TRSI for $7 each (so about $49 for the whole set.) No artbox, though.

Anyone have any luck getting Kiba Collection 2 because I have been to two BBs in Florida and neither of them had it? I even checked online and they were listed as in stock. Although I did find Full Metal Alchemist Season 2 at the store closest to me. I also grabbed Tsukihime for $16.49 and Samurai 7 for $18.99.
 
went there Friday and the anime section at my local Best Buy was down to one section from two. Just four day ago was still two section wide.

went 2 days and they more anime other side the shelf. like they it before. it was 2 section in row.
not sure if they just move the the anime or got more in

The problem is, will they be fulfilled? When I ordered Kodocha, is said DC had nine. I would think DC = Distribution Center. It still says nine now, but it hasn't shipped. That's what I don't get. It also said "On Hand :3" but said "In Store:0." Their system confuses me.
 
I order The Place Promised in Our Early Days and then received an email saying it was backordered, then a couple days later I got an email saying it was on its way, and then received it in the mail a few days later.

Wait, Im confused. You planned on opening it and watching it anyways? You could just try it out, if the disc is screwed then return it and says it defective. Ive ordered games/movies that come loose in the case and it works just fine.

Best Buy wont have a problem taking it back if it doesnt work, either they will take your word for it or you could simply write down the exact time that it starts skipping/"acting up" so they can test it.

Well, all the copies locally make a noise when you shake it. So, unless I get two and return a copy with the scratched disk(s), I don't know what else to do. Either way, I can only exchange it, or at best, get store credit, which I don't want. I was thinking of ordering it, and paying the shipping but I don't want the same thing to happen.

- If you order something for in-store pick up, do you have to deal with BB.com?(Returns/Exchange) That's what was implied when I asked.
 
Oh OK I see, got ya. Well, for me, I would just try it, just because in the past...its been fine. I imagine that if you kept returning it you would eventually find one that isn't scratched. Or you could just tell them you will only exchange it for one that isn't loose in the box, if your patient enough to wait for one to come in...

EDIT: OK sorry, no...I think you can just deal with the B&M store.

For $40 buck its well worth if you like:

1. Obtaining "Things with Shape" Media Packaging

2. Special Features which shows detailed interviews from Cast & Crew of the Anime

3. Checking out Japanese Advertisements of Gantz

4. Love hearing "Dubbed" words like C*ck, F*ck, F*g, Sh*t, a*s in a dialouge.

5. Watching Beastiality, Sex, Excessive Nudity (bouncing breasts), Gore, Child Abuse, Rape, Hobo beating, Homophobia, Aliens, Cosplay and others types of Exploitation in Anime.

I'm also tempted to pickup the Gantz Perfect collection, but I already own the thin packs. On a side note the manga goes much farther than the anime and I think it is pretty darn good.
 
New to Anime watched all 50 episodes of Blood + and loved it so I though I'd try something new. Here's what I bought from the B&M and ordering from the kiosk.

Just a note to everyone that's still looking, it seems the Cascade store in Beaverton Oregon has shipped out their anime already. I say it seems, because the only things left last night were an arseload of DBZ movies and sets, so it seems the logical conclusion. I asked an employee where all the anime went, and he said something like "Oh well we've had this big 50% sale..." and I asked him if he thought I seriously believed somehow everything BUT dragonball z had sold out. It was quite disappointing for me, since the FMA season 2 was shown in-stock online the night before. So don't hesitate if there's something you forgot to get.

Yeah, it showed as half off at first, then a week later it was full price. I noticed instore pickup is now available, so I'm gonna stop and do an instore pickup for it.

I enjoyed Samurai 7 far more than Basilisk. It is very evenly paced and most of the characters get a full character arc at the end. Unlike Basilisk which treats it's characters more as genre tropes, only building the ones that will survive well into the series. If you can catch the first few episodes on one of FUNi's streaming outlets and like it, you won't be disappointed throughout.
 
My store didn't have any worthwhile box sets except for Witchblade, which might still be sitting there because of the american artwork on the box.
I was able to walk right up to a kiosk and buy the stuff I wanted for 50% off. It looks like the Death Note Box 1 is on backorder.
 
I was going to make the trek up to the only store around having the sale but figured I'd try my luck and ask the store right down the street if they would price match the other store and they did! Sweet. I got alot of stuff I wanted but still missed out on some I was really interested in. I'm going to go back to the store thats having the sale sometime later this week because it has a kiosk and my local one doesn't so hopefully I can pick up the last couple sets I want.
 
Does anyone have the SKU of the Princess Tutu collection? I got it off their site, but the two stores I called said they don't have any in stock and will not be carrying the item-- the same going for every store in my state even though the website shows every store in the area currently having it in stock. They also told me it shows up as 32.99, which contrasts the people who have been able to get it for 50% off. If someone has a different SKU other than 9214959 let me know please. I may just do an instore pickup and see what happens with it.

I ordered sku 9214959 2 weeks ago at 50% off. Maybe they fixed it?

It is basically about Farmers getting together to combat a corrupt government, and the 7 samurai accept rice as payment ( while most would only accept money ) and help them. It's a wonderful series if you want character stories and an emotional story, but I didn't feel it had a lot of adventure and /or fighting in it.

The funny thing is, the day before I had order something from the exact same kiosk and all the prices were 1/2 off. Then last night, the prices were full price. This by the way was in so cal.
 
I got the half off prices at the kiosk sunday night. Could they be restoring the prices on a store by store basis? Either way, if you're going to order something, DO IT NOW!
 
I am surprise it took them this long to fix it as I am sure it is not their intention to have 50% off for web order. Hope I can get in 1 more online order
 
Well, I put in an order yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and the kiosk was still ringing up 50% off EXCEPT for the 2 DVDs I was looking for the other day, which were ringing up full price then and now.
 
I'm a Silver Rewards Zone Bestbuy member, got a free shipment for the Animes I ordered from a Bestbuy store kiosk that carry the 50% off sale.

First time I did this and I was suprised how poorly they packaged the DVDs.

Thank goodness the Cowboy Bebop Remix was packaged in a thick Amaray case.
